So with Batman: Under the Red hood finally released this week, I decided to shake things up a bit by asking: Where would you rank the past eight DC Universe Animated Original Movies? With Number one obvously the best and with number eight being the worst!
Here's my list;
1. Batman: Under the Red Hood 2. Wonder Woman 3. Justice League: The New Frontier 4. Justice League: Chrisis on two Earths 5. Superman/Batman: Public Enimies 6. Superman: Doomsday 7. Green Lantern: First Flight 8. Batman Gotham Knight
So where would you guys rank the DC Univerese movies so far?

With each new movie it gets tougher to make these lists and judge these them against each other. In my personal opinion most have Approx. the same overall quality and share an equal number of good and bad points. For example good animation but lacking in story, or good cast/performances but poor writing. So far for me, New Frontier is still the best by far. I think WW was the most "complete" and well rounded after that and Gotham Knights remains the most disappointing. Everything in between kindve falls on the same line imo.
New Frontier Wonder Woman Under the Red Hood Crisis on Two Earths GL First Flight Public Enemies Superman Doomsday Gotham Knights

^ I agree, i really can't decide ether since there are things I like in one, that I didn't like in another. For me, I liked Wonder Woman the best. It just an action packed movie that reminded everyone why Wonder Woman is such an awesome character! Plus, how could you dislike Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion!
1. Wonder Woman 2. Batman: Under the Red Hood 3. Justice League: The New Frontier 4. Justice league: Crisis on Two Earths 5. Superman Doomsday 6. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies 7. Green Lantern: First Flight 8. Batman: Gotham Knight

isnt Gotham Knight a part of the movie universe? so its not really an original animated movie. if you include that, then you should include the Timmverse movies too.

jlavaia I think you are forgeting that Batman:Gotham Knight was produced and created by DCU Animated Orginal movies.
After all take a look, Batman:Gotham Knight does carry the logo for the DC Universe Animated Original Movies film series and it's listed on DCU Animated orginal website: www.warnervideo.com/dcuondvd

[shadow=red,left,1000]As Twisted said, Batman: Gotham knight was made and distriputed under the DC Universe Animated Orginal movies title, thus making it both a part of the movie verse and an offical DCU movie. The only way it could have been strictly a part of the movie verse if it was stritly made and distriputed by Christopher Nolan and Co. and nobody from DC Universe Animated Orginal movies had anything to do with it! Now with that being said, let's just continue on with the conversation. If you would like to include anything from the Timverse feel free to. So here is my list: 1. Batman: Under the Red Hood 2. Wonder Woman 3. Justice League: The New Fronteir 4. Justice League: Chrisis on Two Earths 5. Green Lantern: First Flight 6. Superman/Batman: Public Enimies 7. Superman: Doomsday 8. Batman: Gotham Knight (Of course.)[/shadow]

So far I've been very mixed on these. I've disliked the following:
Batman: Gotham Knight Batman/Superman: Public Enemies
I've greatly enjoyed:
Wonder Woman Green Lantern Batman: Under the Red Hood Justice League: New Frontier
and these have been okay
Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Superman: Doomsday

8. Batman: Gotham Knight 7. Wonder Woman 6. Batman: Under the Red Hood 5. Superman: Doomsday 4. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies 3. Green Lantern: First Flight 2. Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths 1. Justice League: The New Frontier

I would now add Superman/Batman: Apocalypse to the bottom of the list. I think just above Gotham Knights.

Yep, Batlaw is right on the money. The only good thing about Superman/Batman: Apocalypse was the Green Arrow short.

I thought S/B: A was alright. Nothing special. I had some serious issues with some of the character designs, a bit of difficulty with Darkseid's character and his voice over, and a few other details. Still, it could have been a lot worse. This list does not include Superman/ Batman Public Enemies since it is the only one that I haven't seen.
1. Justice League: The New Frontier 2. Batman: Under the Red Hood 3. Wonder Woman 4. Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths 5. Superman/ Batman Apocalypse 6. Superman Doomsday 7. Batman: Gotham Knight 8. Green Lantern: First Flight
Green Lantern First Flight was just awful, IMO. The entire plot is Hal Jordan simply being in the right place at the right time. So lame.

^ Since this isn't the proper thread to debate this topic, I will try and keep my answer as brief as I possibly can.
Everyone has there own reasons for disliking it. For me, I hate Gotham Knight because of the week storyline, lack of connection to Nolan's Batman despite the fact that it takes place in the same universe, Conroy's voice didn't fit with the animation or continuity, not long enough, and had little to no character development. These are just a few of the reasons I dislike Batman: Gotham Knight.

alright i guess that makes sense but i like to look at it as a work of its own i don't really care that it didn't go with Nolan's story. Also anime and batman? I love both so combined is awesome! lol Also, i didn't realize you could go wrong with Conroy. He is batman to me. Thanks for that though i just thought it was weird that it was last on everyones. Its not my favorite but its definately not the worst in my opinion.

So what about you guys, how has your lists changed?

In France, Batman Gotham Knight is considered as one of the best (if not the best). Cultural difference. Here, we focus more on the artistic vision of the Movies/Animated Series. While other animated movies have a great scenario, they almost all look alike as far as aesthetic is concerned.

I would not say style over substance but let's say substance is not enough and style counts as much. As you may know, France is one of the three countries (with Belgium and Japan) where everyone (from 7 to 77, as we say over here) read and possess hundreds of comics. Our comics are hard cover and twice the size of American ones (example : www.amazon.fr/Okko-cycle-terre-Premi%C3%A8re-partie/dp/2756003204/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1307773646&sr=1-3). We consider comics as a form of art and, consequently, the style is of great importance. A bad one can ruin a good scenario. To go back to Batman (or JLA) animated movies, since many scenarii are quite the same (fighting bad guys to save the world or someone ...), style is very important to give more strength or vitality to the story.

First of all, the argument that something "looks prettier" or "looks more unique" is a tired and pathetic excuse people use to defend terrible movies, tv-shows and comic books. We are not talking about paintings or sculptures here, we are talking about a medium that involves STORY! Yes, style is hugely important since it can be surreal, non-linear, stylized, deep and confusing. But the style should cater to the story, NOT the other way around! Just because it looks good doesn't mean it is good!

I loved Gotham Knights, because I took each episode on it's own merits, and didn't care if they connected to each other...Nolan's films are their own world, nothing in the comics or animated series / films needs to or even should connect to BB or TDK. Continuity is way overrated as a necessary element of Batman story telling. While I certainly appreciated some segments more than others, each reveals an aspect of Bruce's character that is important to understanding of who he is and why he does what he does. The wildly diverse artistic designs were stunning. I do agree w/ the miscasting of Conroy; in fact, I would have had a different voice actor for each segment, to parallel the varied artistic styles. I would rank "Deadshot" and "In Darkness Dwells" as highly as any other animated Batman project.

My new list would go something like this. Not absolute since everything between the 1st couple and last couple spots is pretty much even. Over time Ive grown fond of Public Enemies. Its just fun and rewatchable unlike some others. For example, I think Year One was enjoyable but I have no desire to play it again. I also like Red Hood more now than I did initially.
New Frontier Doom Wonder Woman *Superman / Shazam: Return of Black Adam Under the Red Hood Public Enemies Crisis on Two Earths Batman: Year One GL First Flight All Star Superman Superman Doomsday GL Emerald Knights Superman/Batman: Apocalypse Gotham Knights
