How come B:TAS figures arent sought after « Thread Started on May 27, 2008, 9:36am »
I dont get it, this was the best batman animated series in history and in my opinion still is, however i dont see collectors go for these on ebay as much as the other collectibles. I know the figures arent as good but nonetheless i think because the show was sooo good they deserve to be in every batman fans collection lol. Even though the figures were simple i do think they display nice and we got mostly all the villains. Maybe it was the different batman variations that spoilt this toy line, i myself didnt collect the variations i just stuck to the main line figures.

There use to be a time that the basic figs went for big money. I remeber when Penguin was over $100. Now you shouldnt have no problem at all picking any of them up for under 20 bucks. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that most collectors probably already have them in their collection. And as far as any new collectors, well, they sem to be so picky at sculpts and articulation they dont want them. The most appealing factor to me was their simplicity. Oh well, its their loss.

funny you bring this up, i was just thinking the same thing a few days ago when i unpacked all my btas figures. i was able to score all the villains plus glider robin and combat belt bats all moc at a few different places maybe 2 years back at great prices. i really couldnt believe how cheap i got them. i wonder if its the same way with the robin dragster. i've wanted that bad boy ever since i was a kid.

Because they were very easy to find when they were first released...So most collectors who were collecting then already have them. And they were produced in much greater numbers than toys from the 60/70/80's. Hell, Penguin was a major pegwarmer when they were initially released. There's more circulating out there for collectors to buy so the demand is low. That's why I only collect/buy things that I am intrested in and want in my collection. I've never cared what the future cost will be just that it looks good in my display.

I think that there were enough adult collectors around during the nineties that bought them at the time and socked them away so there are enough to meet current demand. I know I still have my MIP stuff that I bought at the time.
In terms of the nostalgia factor, I don't think the Batman TAS kids have come to the age where they are adults with disposable incomes yet.
Right now it looks to me like it's the Transformers and GI Joes that are all the rage because of the necessary time-gap that has elapsed for kids of those eras to be in their late twenties/early thirties, out in the real world and earning a paycheck to buy vintage and collector's rereleases for high coin.
I'm sure we've got another half decade before the nineties kids are going to be demanding their Power Rangers and Batman TAS as adult collectors.
Just my humble opinion.

i still have all my TAS action figures at home in the attic. i'm in college now, but i fully intend on picking those up when i graduate. they will not fall victim to donation, trash, or a garage sale.

I've been able to find a lot of BTAS figures and vehicles at tag sales. Last year I picked up a BTAS Batmobile and a bag of 15 figures and accessories for $5. That was one of my better finds last year. Now that the weather is nice I'm looking forward to finding more "treasures."

there's a ton of TAS stuff at my local comic shop. i ought to look at it more closely, its a lot cheaper than new figures which surprises me. i'm not sure why they aren't considered more of a collectors item.
