[shadow=green,left,300]Reliable sources at Toon Zone state that they showed an episode of Batman v Man-Bat at SDCC today.
Look for 'the Batman' episode names and descriptions here very soon, along with some more exclusive pics from your #1 source for 'the Batman' news..LoG![/shadow]
**UPDATE now more details from Maxie Zeus over at Toon Zone!
Warner Bros. Animation offered San Diego Comc-Con attendees a first glimpse of the studio's new iteration of the animated Batman when it screened a complete episode of The Batman on Friday afternoon. Con attendees received the episode, which features the Man-Bat, with polite but strong applause.
Cartoon Network's Sam Register prefaced the showing with comments that suggested a certain amount of nervousness about how the new show will be received. Register said that he would be happy if The Batman were only "half" the show that predecessor Batman: The Animated Series was, and admitted that the new show is probably only "three quarters" there: after all, he said, Bruce Timm and his crew "got it all right" the first time.
Producers Michael Goghen and Duane Capizzi had the panel to themselves: designer Jeff Matsuda, they said, was with his new baby boy and could not attend.
The producers' history with Jackie Chan Adventures immediately leaps off the screen in The Batman with characters who look as though they could have stepped right out of JCA. Character designs have a strong element of caricature to them, and overall the series looks far more "cartoony" than either the original or redesign episodes that Timm produced. Backgrounds are attractive and give Gotham a sinister air, though they lack the same sense of solidity and power that the designers on the previous show had given them. Animation in the Man-Bat episode was fluid throughout, and the action scenes were staged with flair and excitement.
Those action scenes will likely be the element that captures the attention of fans of the earlier show, who otherwise may have a hard time adjusting to the feel of the new series. Aside from the changes in design styles, an entirely new crew of voice actors has stepped in. As Bruce Wayne/Batman, Rino Romano has none of the baritone authority of Kevin Conroy, and Romano doesn't try to compete. Instead, he sounds much more like Michael Keaton did in the Tim Burton-directed live-action features. Conroy's absence from the show did not seem to sit well with some fans, who continually shouted "We want Kevin Conroy!" as the panelists tried to explain their reasons for recasting.
Origin stories also appear to be significantly different in the new series. Professor Langstrom, for instance, is revealed to be merely another "mad scientist"--in fact, his reasons for turning himself into the Man-Bat sound much more like Jonathan Crane's reasons for turning himself into the Scarecrow. In the question-and-answer session after the screening, Goghan and Capizzi said that the villains in The Batman are more grotesque than they were in Batman: The Animated Series: they felt that the earlier series had thoroughly mined the "pathos" angle on the villains.
The question-and-answer session was extremely brief, with the panel only having time to take a half-dozen questions before the session was forced to end.

I was at the WB panel at SDCC and I really enjoye dteh Teen Titans and Justice League unlimited previews. However, the "The Batman" episode was a let down. the theme song is pretty dull and so is the show in my opinion. I don't like that the style is so much like Jackie Chan Adventures. I love JCA, but I just don't like that they re-used the style when they could have done something new.
The Man-Bat episode was slow and the humor seemed forced. I kept hoping the preview would be over but it kept going. I don't like the new voice of Batman, and Alfed seemed out of character as he was extremely judgemental. I thought the show would have more about how new Bruce is to being Batman, I guess I thought since it would be a younger Bruce, he would be less experienced and still be learning the ropes and stuff, that would have been more interesting to me. I know some will like the new show, and I hope that those who do enjoy it, but I won't be watching it.

[shadow=green,left,300]Thats the first negative response to the show that I've heard...of course you actually LIKE the Catwoman movie....so..... Personally, I think Alfred would have been more judgemental until Bruce proved himself to him. Alfred acts as a father figure and is worried for his safety, therefore he's going to be critical until after years and years he finally sees that Bruce can't be killed! and what good he's doing.[/shadow]

It's probably going to be meh for a season or two, like with X-Men Evo., but once the guys find their footing, it should be good.
After all, it is Batman.

[shadow=blue,left,300]I think the thing to remember here is that the new show IS NOT BTAS, nor is it trying to be. That show has had an entire generation to manifest itself into the show in which all other Bat-toons are judged. If the WB wanted to do the same show, they would have.
As much as I love BTAS, TNBA, JL, etc...I am thrilled that we have the chance to see a fresh take on Batman and his supporting cast. Say what you want about WB, but rarely have we left disappointed in their efforts.[/shadow]

HOLY KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS!! Batboi liked the Catwoman movie I guess whatever floats your boat. ;D. All I can say for that movie is 4 star Body, 1 star movie. To me the new animated show sounds Excellent, because it is fresh yet still impliments classic parts of the BTAS. This new show sounds great, and the fact they compared Batman's voice to Keaton's may make me like this more than B:TAS!!

I still can't wait for this show ,a friend of mine saw it at SDCC and was dissapointed as well but it sounds like a lot of the complaints I'm hearing are that it is NOT BTAS and the voices are off !! which until you relax and judge it on it's own merits as a brand new take on the Batman ,is going to be a problem .Ive gotten used to the idea and I'm sure it's going to be a few episodes until we get used to the new voices I'm just really happy to have a new Batman cartoon to watch with my kids and I really like thae character designs The change in Bane really doesn't bother me as from the time he show'd in the book's I've been wondering why a masked wresteler was in Gotham !!

[shadow=purple,left,300]So many people don't like this show? Oh, I keep forgetting... These are the same people who are stuck in the 90s. Welcome to 2004, friends... Batman is taking on a new form in movies and in animation. The voices are off? Well, that's probably because we have a different voice cast. (DUH) Alfred judgmental? Could it be because the boy he watched grew up is about to exact revenge against the low-lifes who killed his parents in the most dangerous of ways?
UGH! Personally, I know this won't be the next BTAS, but this is a welcome incarnation of Batman in my book. The Man-Bat origin is a bit iffy, but I want to wait until I see it to pass judgment on the character.[/shadow]

[shadow=blue,left,300]I am anxiously awaiting this show. All I've seen is the little preview a few months back. I know it's not going to be Timm/Dini's BTAS. I think a different perspective is cool. It's like comic books. We all love Jim Lee drawing Batman. But we also enjoy Kelley Jones, who gives us that creepy atmosphere; Neal Adams nuff said and more. It' s just a different artistic take. I think given the chance many people will begin to like the show.[/shadow]

aww, c'mon, just because he likes Catwoman doesn't mean he's completely wrong just because we all like animeish crapizzi and old things use and resued again.... (no offense intended) Personally, im not all too happy with this cartoon, its all...too different...the anime looks REALLY but I mean REALLY bother me, the red bane is a bit...shocking...the joker is ugly as heck...I would REALLY hate it if it had forced comedy into it...I would rather prefer NO comedy in it...its not like Teen Titans, you see, TT has comedy that FLOWS with it, its not forced, like in Jackie Chan or other cartoons I rather not mention... And if the style is like Jackie chan, im going to puke. I've been waiting for this since TNBA finished (1999), and if WB is going to let me (and us) down again, then I am never going to do any WB again...Im gonna turn to marvel. WB, you hear me? this is the last time you screw up! (yes, im aggressive now after all these letdowns like catwoman and B&R and jack black, so excuse me if I looked too threatening or evil or mean or if any of it offended you) ;D

Dino, I think you should reserve your judgment on this show until you have seen the first few episodes. Unless you have seen the first few eps. that is.

I have not seen it, true, but all the drawing and stuff, and ppl telling me this is like jackie chan, well, if it REALLY is like jackie chan....
c'mon, we as fans always want something more, isn't it true?
well, I ant something more from this show, if its gonna be all silly and happy and 'funny' like teen titans...then...im gonna be sad...end of story...
Next time I won't say what im thinking...it always gets me into trouble.

It's not wether alot of us are stuck in the 90's or not, It has to do with the fact that Batman was done right, if not perfect in B:TAS and all of us will remember and cherish it that way cause we know it was a time when we could say that B:TAS was truly the one ultimate display of what the Batman Mythology was all about.

[shadow=green,left,300]and what you need to realize is that BTAS is over. Whether the Batman was made or not, it was no longer bringing in enough attention from the kids. The Batman isn't trying to be or outdo BTAS. They know very well that it can't be done. What they are trying to do is do a fresh take on the characters in an animation format. What if we all decided that the comics from the 40s were all just perfect, and no one else should ever draw or re-interpret the characters. Gimme a break. Batman has many forms. In film, in comic and in animation. Fans need to learn to separate things better. Don't be so against something new. BTAS itself was new and it went against a lot of "batman rules" at the time. Matt, I know BTAS is over, I was simply saying that People (generally speaking) will always remember something or even someone when they were at their best, in this case BTAS. Alot of us are willing to accept the new toon (like myself) but alot of other will only compare the new toon to BTAS, and those people are only negative about the new toon. I am willing to give this toon a chance. Dino, maybe you should too. who knows, you might like it.

I'm definetely willing to give it a chance. From what I heard from my cousin (who attended SDCC and saw The Batman Man-Bat preview), the voices match younger Wayne, and the preview itself was fitting to everyone, in terms of style and a new direction. So far, I liked evrything about the show, the premise, the villians, the style etc. It's definetely no BTAS but in a way that's good, we're getting a whole new view of Batman. We've seen him middle-aged/experience BTAS, then older in NBTAS, than pass the mantle on in Batman Beyond, and even get wiser/more experienced being a part of the Justice League. Now, we get him, his third year as Batman, inexperienced, younger, etc. A fresh look. This is like a prolougue to the other animated series. And as for the look, from what I HAVE seen, that short Kids WB preview in March showed no giggling, just smugness, and a cool fight with a thug. Of course, that's not enough to base facts on, but he's just starting out, he's not going to take crap from villians after losing parents, and gaining a chance to protect people. And from what my cousin has heard/said to me, this series looks to be progressively based at older kids, like young teens mostly, and is more gritty/violent in some areas. I'm looking forward to it, and the figures, and everything about it, and I hope everyone at least gives it an episode or two to see if they like it.
