Hey guys, I have a very bad feeling about the batman and i think this might be its last season. Well it's not going without a fight. I have made a petition that can save the batman for all the adventures the riddler, joker and killer croc will never be able to fight in. please sign and and print it. Here' the link: www.jnolanryan.com/images/savethebatman.pdf

This is a very nice idea. And I applaud you for the effort. However, this isn't how it works.
They don't make or break shows, believe it or not, based on whether we like them. This is what will save this show..and this alone. Mattel.
The show survives because of it's tie-in toys made by Mattel. If those toy sales numbers are high enough, more shows will be made. If they are not, then none will. So, if you want to save 'The Batman' go buy some action figures. Lots of them.

The toy sales affect if the show gets another season or not? Well that's just dumb. A show should be given another season based off it's popularity, not toy sales. But if this is the case, how about instead of continuous repaints, how about some new villains? Black Mask, Clayface, Everywhere Man? How about a future 3-pack with Nightwing, and the future Freeze and Batman? Or maybe a 4 pack with Batman, Robin, Wrath, and Scorn? That one is so simple! Then some people would buy them. But first, how about we actually get the figures to the store?

It does make total sense - merchandising is where shows gain most of their profits - that and tie ins like dvd's; games etc. Petitions sometimes work though; but cheers for the info /\/\att

Ya, i think they should make more new figures then just repainting them or repackaging them. i bet allot of people would bye a black mask, clay-face 2 or even a Harley Quinn.

If that is indeed how it works, then WB should be rather upset. Its no secret how all the fan/collector communities have been complaining about the toy line as far as availability. We know that insiders frequent these boards, such as our own LoG, so why isnt something being done to correct this problem? Seems to me like WB would be pushing Mattel to step up and increase their output if its coming down to money. Isnt that why WB took away the license from Kenner? They werent happy with what they were putting out? You cant tell me WB is happy with the same lack of product Mattel is putting out there, especially if its affecting a show.

Also if merchandise saves shows, then why is Justice League Unlimited off the air? Like everyone else that posted so far, I can't believe WB would do this when Mattel can't even get figures on the peg let along give us a new figure that has not been repainted. Looks like the fans loose again

Whether or not this is "how it works" entirely, I have no doubt there are elements of truth to it. "Corporate Synergy" has been around as long as the industries themselves. nothing new, they feed each other and off of each other... and ultimately off of us. Its a despicable and insulting policy and practice that every fan should have nothing but contempt for. I refuse to buy into or play along... "repercussions" be damned. Garbage in. Garbage out.

Well if its merchandise that keeps a show afloat, its kinda hard to help out when theres nothing you really want to buy. Hopefully we get a preview of alot of new stuff at toyfair. Kinda sucks though that this is probably the last season. And even if it wasn't, there would be almost no way to have it out by the time DARK KNIGHT came out to help cross promote. Hopefully we get a season 6. Or I guess we can just wait another 3-4 years for the next Batman cartoon. DrGreenEvil
