I got it Tuesday morn and watched it tue night. I pretty much loved it. I may watch it again and give a more thorough opinion and review. I certainly wasnt at all disappointed. I got my copy at Walmart for 14.95 and it included a bonus cdrom Death of Superman virtual comic and an exclusive lenticular cover. Circuit City supposedly offers a limited DoS "poster". Best Buy supposedly included a copy of New Frontier comic #1-2 And I think Target offers one or more exclusive "trading cards"?

I picked up my copy yesterday and watched it today. It was totally awsome! I sooooo wish that they would make a PG-13 rated Batman cartoon... it would be great! Sorry.. I just enjoy watching people sticking it to those .. heros.... I'm sadistic that way... I kinda hated how they drew Superman's face, probably because I'm used to JLU, however I got used to it after a while... And no, I haven't read the comic, but I'm going to now! Die Superman Die!!!! ..oh wait.. ok.. just suffer then.. don't die...and bring Batman next time, I would love to see his ars get kicked too!

I really enjoyed this one, for being a first direct to dvd I think its going to make a splash. I must say, eventhough I love the Timm style and feel (always have), I think it's time to let someone else have a go at DC characters in animation(yes, I know Jeff and company handeled The Batman), he has had the reigns since '91 and I feel there is need for a little change. Even New Frontier is going to have the same look.

Watched this film last night and it was awesome. Great fight scenes, loads of violence and what Lex did to his PA was unexpected and shocking, just after i laughed about his "intergalatic soccer player" remark. I rate this film 10/10, i probably would of enjoyed more if i really liked superman, as i kept thinking "Batman would'nt let that happen". Don't get me wrong i like superman, just not as much as the Bat.

I almost picked this one up today. It looks great. I was having a difficult time finding it; it was actually in a rather obvious place, but I missed it. Anyway while I was looking for it, I ran across Batman: Mask of the Phantasm on DVD for less than half of what Doomsday would have costed. So ultimately, I decided to only "geek out" on one thing today.

Everyone should get this. Show support for this new DC endeavor with such a bright future. DTV is the new, perhaps even last frontier venue for us multi-generational fans to get our fix of solid Superhero fare. Not watered down kiddie versions or *new interpretations, but faithful passionate comic based action bought forth moreso by artists than businessmen or committees. Not condemning the current movie or cartoon franchises, but there is room for, and a vacancy imo for a middle position. Something more akin to the former "Timm-verse". Unless you despise DC, Superman, or superheroes and cartoons, altogether, you wont be disappointed by this and you'll show there is a market for intelligent superhero animation.

I was surprised, I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I thought the new voices would suck, but Adam Baldwin and James Marsters were pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of Anne Heche, though. I thought she was just OK. I didn't like Lex's design(the cheek bones were weird), but Lois' was different and cool. I really liked the coloring, Something about the actual colors/tones that were used. Sorry I can't articulate it better, I don't know the lingo. The coloring really worked even with the Timm-like character designs. I liked the story itself, other then the fact that there were no other JL members in it. Especially at the funeral. I say 2&1/2 out of four stars, and I'm looking forward to New Frontier much more then I was before

It was just ok for me. I really wish they would have extended this into a trilogy or even two movies at least. It seemed so rushed to get him dead and then reborn. I would have liked to of had a little something to stall the Doomsday fight, but I guess if your calling it Doomsday, you better get him in there right away. I was not too entirely pleased with the art either. I don't know whats decision it was to put those lines on Supermans face, but I think it was over all a bad decision.
** out of five for me.

HERE BE SPOILERS... Bought it, watched it, loved it. The style was great, an excellent evolution of Timm's style, the way the story was handled was excellent- I really liked the evil Superman clone situation. A plot point like that could have easily come off as stupid, but instead I actually found the character menacing. The best part, though, was Marsters as Luthor. I never doubted he'd be perfect for the role, but watching Luthor in this was truly a treat thanks to him. All the voices were great- and Baldwin made a very likeable Superman- not a mopey whiner, but instead a strong, compassionate and friendly Superman- the way he should be. All this plus a New Frontier preview- and that should be far better even than this A+ release.

I agree with everything you wrote. It felt very rushed, and it should have either been a longer movie, perhaps a 2- 2 1/2 hour format or they should have spanned it out into two movies...
Wasn't a big fan of the lines on Supes face either, that was just a super bad design idea...
I give it 1.5 out of 5

I thought it would have been better than it was. I saw it about a month ago. The film felt quite rushed. I thought Doomsday should have been more difficult or had a larger part in it. I haven't read the comic of which the film was based on, so some of my gripes could be at the source material. I did like the animation and the design for Jimmy. For the most part, I thought it could have been better.
Anyone else have a problem with the voice Lois had?
