Hi folks,
I felt it was high time I earned my keep around here and did a bit of Spring cleaning. We've had some sticky messages up for a long time, and I felt I could condense some of that information in one place. In regards to the "Q&A," I've taken that down. It appeared to me that answers were obtained faster by simply asking your questions in specific threads.
First up, instead of a maintaining a list of custom sites, I'll simply point you to RTM's constantly updated list of sites: www.toymania.com/custom/links.htm It's somewhat self-policing, as customizers are always welcome to submit their sites for inclusion. (And they do, frequently!)
For general reference and education, I recommend the following sites. All provide guidance/tips/articles or link to more resources.
Inanimate Objects FAQ (Great first stop for absolute beginners): www.pilliod.net/secrets.htm
Fwooshnet (A customizer's forum, probably revealing more than you'll ever want to know): www.fwooshnet.com/
RTM's Custom Central (Get your own gallery plus other resources): www.toymania.com/custom/
FFURG (Yes, it's Star Wars, but some of the tutorials and tips are universal): www.ffurg.com/
The Custom Coalition (The creed of ethics by which reputable customizers work): www.pilliod.net/coalition1.htm
The Custom Action Figure Forum (A very friendly forum for customizers. Feel free to join and ask questions. Tell 'em Casimir sent ya!): forums.delphiforums.com/customize
Jin Saotome's Customs (Jin has posted some excellent articles about general customizing): www.jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.com
Dan Perez Studios (Geared towards garage kits, but features some great articles on sculpting and casting): www.danperezstudios.com/
Arkenyon's articles (Arkenyon is one of the best, and his articles prove why): www.arkenyon.com/articles.html
Chris Marsh's "Creating a Vac-Metal Effect" (More than you ever thought you'd know): chrismarsh-land.itgo.com/VacMetal.html
[glow=red,2,300]NEW[/glow] Custom Batman Figures (a new forum dedicated to crafting Batman related figures): wildwilly.proboards21.com/index.cgi
Feel free to submit links to resources found elsewhere. Just PM me here at LoG.
As always, I encourage everyone to share their custom figures, sculptures, fan fiction, traditional and computer art. We all enjoy seeing it, and no one is here to judge. Your stuff deserves to be seen! And if you have questions, by all means ask away!
