I just watched Epilogue on CN, and I gotta say, IT WAS F@$KING SWEET! It was coolest episode of any DC cartoon. I was kind of confused at first, but when whatsername explained everything, I got it. Dude, they gotta bring BATMAN BEYOND back! It could pick up where Epilogue left off!Was that Andrea in the Phantasm suit?

This is the second JLU episode that I've seen in it's entirety and I have to take back all the bad stuff I said about Justice League. That was on par with the original animated series. I loved how we heard Shirley Walker's Batman theme being used for Terry for the first time. It also reminds me of the old episodes where most of it was just talk rather than non stop action. Although the story isn't over, that is a great finale to the timeline in my opinion.

Because it is not on as often or when I would like (I'm not usually home on Saturday evening) I haven't seen a lot of the JLU episodes since last year. I did, however, catch "Epilogue"... and I was blown away. This was an emotional, epic piece that did so much in 22 minutes that I have a hard time believing they were able to do it. Loved every minute of it - it tied up loose ends that I didn't even know were loose. Bruce as an even OLDER character was perfect, as were Terry, Dana, Amanda, and the long-gone-but-not-forgotten Andrea Beaumont as Phantasm. I also felt chills when Walker's BTAS themes combined with the Batman Beyond guitar styles of Kris Carter at the end of the episode. Bravo!

Alright i accidently found out what was going to happen but...wow. It was far better than i would have ever imagined. I'm glad i taped it so i can watch it over again. WB needs to bring back Batman Beyond now. I like the noir type feeling of flashbacks and terry's new look. Terry was dark, intense and very much like bruce. Waller was done very well as a senile old woman. And bruce looked more decrepit then ever. The flashback with ace and bats was very sad and very emotional. This ep is an 11/10. Can't get any better, wait, maybe if we got to see terry's mother or brother, perhaps even gordon or max. But other than that an outstanding episode, i wish we would get another DTV movie of beyond.

I just got done watching Epilogue. It wasn't quite what I expected....heck I wasn't sure what to expect.
but, I must say I'm thrilled. To see an older Terry...to know about their connection...the way they worked JLU continuity into Beyond....just flawless!
Excellent work by all. I would still like some backround on what happens to Nightwing in Beyond continuity...and Catwoman for that matter. There's plenty of Beyond left to explore WB! hint, hint!

Now we know why the dog's name is Ace. Makes since since ace always wanted someone to play with and then have the dog named ace.

Well Matt...that was sorta answered in the episode... Terry said now i know what Dick, Barb, and Selina left you...and Bruce said they never had the drive... So going by that it could be said Bruce pushed them away.... I loved this episode...it would have made an awesome DTV movie but hey i'll take what i can get!

[shadow=red,left,300]I just watched the episode, and all I can say is wow. I was not expecting Bruce to be Terry's father. Loved the cameo by Phantasm aka Andrea Beaumont. I was sorta puzzled by her presence, but the more I thought about it...perhaps she too, believes the world needs a Batman as well, which is why she almost did the deed.[/shadow]

I'm aware that Bruce pushed them all away...I think that was apparent from the Beyond series in general..what I want to know is what came of them! I'd like to know "where are they now". Is Dick still doing his own thing? Did he settle down ever? Is Selina Married? Kids? That sort of thing. They had planned a Nightwing DTV back when to explain things, but alas, it never came to be.

Awesome!
A bit dif from what I expected but I ultimately loved it! It couldve easily been bad. Loved the "widescreen" feel. I wasnt thrilled with the B+W at first but no big deal. Most the guest shots were fun and very welcome!
Loved the Older Terry and older Bruce look. I did think however; Bruce coulda shoulda been a tad more "pleasant" or approachable under the circumstances. Shouldve had more dialog and "presence". To wrap up all that it did, Bruce shouldve offered some sort of touching / closing words with Terry. Loved the homages to BTAS. The end theme was BEAUTIFUL! and the tribute to "On Leathery Wings" was awesome and bitter sweet. Dont know if it has any truth but I love the idea of Bruce naming his dog (Ace) after the Royal Flush Gang's "Ace"! great observation there Arkham. I didnt even think of it! Although the RFG was kinda dorky (which theyve always been IMO) I loved the set up and scene with Ace!
The even Older Bruce in "Epilogue" seemed to match the original / unused Beyond designs for Old Bruce.
*Supposedly on his site's forums, Dwayne McDuffie has confirmed that Matt McGinnis is ALSO Bruce's!? (I dont think I care for that nor do I think its Nec?)

There's plenty of Beyond left to explore WB! hint, hint! in "Return of the Joker", Barbara Gordon tells Terry that Dick left and went to fight crime in another city (i would imagine Bludhaven, but no city was mentioned) but eventually gave it up. as to when this happened or what he did there and why he stopped being Nightwing was never mentioned. though this got me thinking that maybe they should make a Nightwing series. but it just seems too good to ever happen.

In the old Batman Adventures animated comic, they had a several issue story arc deliberately focussed on the "lost years" between BTAS and TNBA. Specifically what, when, and how Tim Drake came into the picture and the origin of Nightwing and his departure from Gotham Etc. I only have a couple of the issues and cant really remember the details. Gonna have to see if I can track them down.
The whole Dick Grayson issue is one that has ticked me off too not seeing any revelation or closure to. I absolutely hate how Grason has all but deliberately been ignored / erased from animated history? The most we've ever gotten is a passing reference by name. This should without a doubt be the focus of a direct to DVD feature. The cool potential and posabilities are endless! It could be told through so many dif angles, timelines, perspectives or continuity!
In ROTJ, Barbara referred to him as "Nightwing", giving the indication he was not only still around, but still wearing the mask?
Good GOD imagine the stories that could be played out!

Hey worlds finest has a nice review and commentary on the ep. I just found out something new. Those scenes in black and white weren't flashbacks but more of Terry daydreaming. I just figured flashbacks and Dana was used to him worrying and calling later. That really makes this better. Here's the site... wf.toonzone.net/WF/jlu/episodes/epilogue/

Here's the site... wf.toonzone.net/WF/jlu/episodes/epilogue/I don't think that review really brings anything new or enlightening to the conversation....and I didn't catch where they think its daydreaming, not flashbacks. Anything on Toon Zone, just to clarify, is fan speculation or fan fiction. It appears that a lot of you aren't aware of that. They are not an official website by any means.

I understand that it is nothing but fan talk matt. The commentary was where it mentioned day dreaming. Which sort of makes sence. He broke up with her and yet when he calls later she doesn't seem to have noticed a change. Bruce asks where terry was even tho he would of known if that conversation had taken place. Superman wanted advice on the case even tho he had suppossedly quit the jlu. Here's what the site had said...
"Bleu: Originally, in a more stupid time of ours, we thought the black-and-white scenes were actually flashbacks...and I've said since then that the episode makes so much more sense to me, knowing they didn't happen. BB: not stupid! Just...wishful thinking BB: seeing someone piss on Bruce is always great to see BB: But since it IS just stuff Terry was considering...it still works. It works better, aside from that JLU bit BB: why Terry would create a scenario where GL makes quips and everyone wishes he wouldn't leave BB: just doesn't make much sense Bleu: I don't know, I could imagine a superhero imagining him and others in battle when thinking about things. I guess it's the writer in me, I think more scenario... BB: aside from being egotistical BB: well I can see him imagining it. Big conversations, people often imagine how it will go to prepare for possible outcomes Bleu: Well, I'm sure Terry likes to think he's important. That Batman is really needed, like he was back in the cape and cowl days. BB: But swooping down from the sky, slapping Shriek and shattering his costume and then leaving is a bit of an odd way to tell your teammates you quit Bleu: So, thus the "don't go" etc. Bleu: True, But it looked cool! BB: it did BB: and the music cue it had was bad butt Bleu: Yeah, I like Terry's daydreaming...he has good music in his head."
Now maybe it was flashbacks but it works in both ways.

I don't know that it was flashbacks, but it doesn't make sense to me that Terry is daydreaming either. I think more likely its some sort of glimpse into what may happen, given the current situation. I don't see any indication that leads me to think Terry is daydreaming anything. He's on the move the entire time, trying to figure things out. If he is daydreaming, they sure don't give you any reason to think so.

yeah because what of the scenes when Amanda Waller is telling the story, Terry can't daydream something he doesn't know about.

No "day dreaming". No "imagining". No Dallas ripoff. There is no reason whatsoever to consider Epilogue's storlyline as anything less than Cannon. (not counting of course that technically the Beyond timeline could still be considered / argued merely a "possible" future).
The issue with Dana was timelapsed. Their "break up" was told in flash back and some time later they apparently reconciled (as I'm sure theyve done more than once. Just like Dana said, "blah blah blah" lol) and hence the return to color and current time when he makes the date.
"Epilogue" being anything less than cannon at this point would not only make the episode pointless and completely unnecessary, but it would be more than just a little insulting. From everything I know and have seen / heard, Timm and Co. have far too much respect for Bats and his fans for that!
