Rumors and rumblings around the web regarding the next season of JLU include*:
Likely more Luthor and even Grodd? Hopefully more Darkseid?
Heatwave?
A Warlord appearance / story.
More Mr. Miracle?
Mr. Terrific gets a speaking part?
Likely more Batman/WW romantic tension.
J. M. DeMatteis supposedly writing more episodes.

Heatwave...
Y'know what I'd love to see? A Flash spin off series. an interstellar GL series would be great, but the Flash in my mind would be the best spin off that could be done. Next to Batman, only the Flash has a large enough stable of rogues to battle week in and week out.

Not only that, but Flash's rogues are actually somewhat interesting. I could also see a GL series, but they'd probably have to come up with a lot of new villains since I don't think he has a very large, solid rogues gallery. Though, I doubt I'd mind!
btw, correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the fourth season finale, "Epilogue," was suppose to actually be the series finale? I've read a lot of spoiler-filled reviews, and from what I can tell, it seems to wrap up a lot of loose ends. It doesn't bother me, though; If there's a fifth season, I'll watch it. The new episodes are amazing. [/shadow]

I would love to see them take from some of the Brave and The Bold comic and pair up some of the hero's accordingly. Like a Green Arrow/Green Lantern adventure would totally rule (if done right)
And it would be cool to see Firestorm pop up somewhere as well
More Lex Luthor is a good thing, and seeing Gorilla Grood would be awesome!

From what I understand, ever since "STAS" was yanked on something of a downer, Timm and Co. try to write season finales as series finales, because the process takes so long to complete they never know if they'll be picked up again. Thus the current finale and epilogue of JLU 2 (or JL 4, depending on how you look at it). However, Cartoon Network has announced plans for a season 3/5, so we should have more yummy goodness. The big question on most people's mind is, will it include Bats, or will WB yank him for fear of "competition" with "the Batman." May not be true, but if so... idiots. Yanking their most widely recognized and profitable charater would not be smart. What do they teach these suits at business school anyway?

For clarification, they were green lit for another season some time ago. But as Casimir stated, for various reasons such as production time Etc. the last couple of season finales have been designed to play just as well as series finales sorta "just in case".
As far as this season's finale episode "Epilogue", it is essentially just that, but more so for another previous animated Bat series : ) and if you havnt noticed, they have been throwing numerous "bones" to STAS whenever possible too continuing with "Epilogue". The second to last episode of this season more closely represents the last act of the bulging "conspiracy" storlyline.
Batman is sure to continue as a part of the show. Worst case scenario is that his character will get less screen time UNGH! Its been said before, but the whole Bat embargo is B.S. I dont care what "reasoning" or supposed research they throw at it, its just smoke. The Batman is in "competition" with JLU (any other animated Batman projects), and (forgive me Matt : ) but they know they cant compete! Its a fight for ratings.
Now, off topic or not, YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS "EPILOGUE" ! ! ! Set your VCRs, tell your Bat-freinds, avoid spoilers! If youre a BTAS fan. A Batman Beyond fan! JLU fan. BTAS fan? Trust me!

When is The Epilogue Episode going to air?
And less Batman kind of follows how Batman starts off a major character in the Justice League comics and then just kind of fizzles to the background as time goes on, and I see this working into the series as well

Newsarama has posted a great interview W/ Alex Ross wherein he primarily discusses his new DC series "Justice". Its a great read. Plus he offers a tidbit of info on possible upcoming plots / stories for the next season of Justice League Unlimited! Specifically, Ross commented: "One of the weird things going on with our series (Justice) is that we’re fortunate we’re getting rolling this summer, just before the new Justice League Unlimited cartoon series starts up with their new episodes by early next year, as they’ve been working on a long storyline that’s effectively doing exactly what we’re doing – the Legion of Doom versus the Justice League". COULD IT BE? Well part of me wants to see this but the other part wants to know what will happen with the 50+ members. Will they never be seen again?

COULD IT BE? Well part of me wants to see this but the other part wants to know what will happen with the 50+ members. Will they never be seen again? Count on it Arkham. The show is still going to be "Unlimited". Given the events of the season finale and what we now know of next season, I think its safe to say we'll still see plenty of cameos. I think its clear the next season will be paying a LOT of tribute to the Super Friends. Cant wait to see if the new earth-based HQ mimics the Hall of Justice!?

Hey maybe if were lucky we'll see Superman and Green Lantern use their powers and combine to become Super Lantern in order to travel thru a black hole. Lol. I still remember that from watching syndication of it when i was a wee lad. I always like Superfriends and the challenge of the Superfriends but i hope the keep Wendy and Marv out of it.

JLU season five and other Misc. info resulting from the recent Comic-con DC animation panel and various other resources Etc.
Further confirmed appearances include:
The Outsiders (unknown / varying lineup(s), The Legion of Super Heroes, “Seven Soldiers of Victory”, Star Girl and Deadman. And of course the bulk of the season’s story arc revolves around the Legion of Doom. The LOD should include (but not limited to): Lex Luthor, Gorilla Grodd, the Key, Dr. Destiny, Evil Star, Bizarro, Dr. Polaris, Cheetah, Black Manta, Giganta, Parasite, Livewire, Silver Banshee, Clock King, Blockbuster, KGBeast, Sinestro, Kanjar-Ro, Gentleman Ghost, Toyman, Metallo, Star Sapphire, Copperhead, Mirror Master, Rampage. Some cool inclusions there IMO!
And this bit of news quoted from a website I cant recall (sorry):
“The truly BIG news was not mentioned at the panel. The Legion of Superheroes appearance on JLU is no coincidence, and I've been told by reliable sources that a Legion of Superheroes animated series is set to go into production immediately after the completion of JLU. And most of JLU’s creative team will be moving over to the new LoSH series, with one major exception... Bruce Timm. The new LoSH series is being spearheaded by Sam Register, the Vice President of Cartoon Network. Rumor has it that Register feels Timm’s work is “tired and dated” and that the new LoSH series will be done in more of a Teen Titans style of animation rather than the classic Timm style. There’s more. To further separate the two franchises, a major plot element from JLU is being ignored. In the new season, a JLU member will join the LoSH and stay in the future. But that character will not be appearing in the LoSH series. Instead, another DC “silver age” character will appear regularly. Additionally, there’s talk that Register will not renew Timm’s contract when it expires next year. Why? Well, from what I’ve heard Register is more concerned with creating his own legacy of shows…” Someone will leave the JLU and stay with the Legion of Superheroes.
Based on everything above, and other elements such as the new Superman movie, proposed Supes toon, LoSH history Etc. I think it’s a safe bet that “someone” will be Superman, and some updated version of Superboy will star on LoSH?
Sounds like this might be the end of the shown, but more importantly and (tragically) the whole beloved classic DCAU?

I want the whole season I would say its a safe bet that box / season sets WILL see the light of day. Though I'm sure its also safe to say it wont be anytime soon. I would give it a couple years at least. In the meantime, the latest 3-Episode DVD is scheduled for September.

So Season Five will be the last for the Justice League? That stinks, I hope it's not though, my fingers are crossed. When does season five start anyway?
Also with Block Buster which one will be featured? The dumb one or the one we currently know from Nightwing?

“tired and dated”?!
What the hell is this guy talking about? JLU is the best cartoon on TV, period. And I cant believe they'd just axe Timm like that. Is this how you treat the guy who created the difinitive version of Batman, outside of the comics? I dont want to believe that statement is true, but I dont know why someone would make that up.

Hey guys! New here, I saw a reference to you guys at TNI.
I love the style of the JL/JLU toon. When they referenced the earthbound base, a vision of the old style hall of justice (but revamped) flashed through my mind...I am hoping it would be something like that. A rehash of the Legion of Doom vs. Justice League would be excellent, I just hope the toyline reflects that. I hate the lack of villains in the line and welcome any they want to add.
I would really love to see a crisis like event take place and maybe even introduce the GL Corp and do a spin off...I think it is about time for that....
