We know the series of cartoon BATMAN's ADVENTURES thrown in 1968 , it was successful; after 7 long years BATMAN it would come back with new adventures: BATMAN's NEW ADVENTURES (1977) though one was possessing new designs in scenes, prominent figures and new technologies in this(this one) animation it was very similar to the first serie There were no big changes but if any modifications, since it was a series of Saturdays cartoon in the morning suprimieron scenes of fights and of violences here the HEROES and VILLAINS had to use his toys mas creative including the already known BATICINTURONES, without leaving of side the intelligence to solve the cases mas complicated. ADAM WEST and BURT WARD continued with the voices of the dynamic duo and other new actors were contracted for the rest of the prominent figures. New prominent figures appear in scene along the histories but one especially (personally I believe that it was exceeding in the series and was not of my pleasure) BATMITE or BATIDUENDE creature of another dimension, who was the manager of putting in tied to the dynamic duo and of fulfilling the payasada of the show, BATGIRL ;D ;Dappears in almost all the episodes, already as official companion of the equipment of heroes, and they introduce new villains created in this series: LUNAR MAN, ELECTRO, SWEET TOOTH the rest of the villains are already the classic acquaintances..... JOKER, CATWOMAN, PINGUINO AND it appears for the first time CLAYFACE. Those who do not seem in the series are ALFRED (butler) AND RIDDLE, ALFRED was replaced with this MASKED DUNDE, and RIDDLE was informing in the series of MAL'S LEGION in THE SÚPER FRIENDS of HANNA BARBERA show, who they had the rights. In general the series was created to be another round success, major budget, better technology in animation, major hearing etc, etc .... but it was not like that, I do not overcome the expectations, many are the hypotheses that it is believed that I darken the success, from THE HUMOR of the series that him towards losing suspense and seriousness (thanks to the batiduende) to THE BATIMORALEJA (every episode was ending with a MORAL), in end .... I believe(create) that all those that have seen her in his infancy and until today, (in some channel of cable) we know that I mark an age of MAGIC AND FANTASY that lasted in us. EPISODES 1) THE PEST 2) THE MOONMAN 3) TROUBLE IDENTITY 4) A SWEET JOKE ON GOTHAM CITY 5) THE BERMUDA RECTANGLE 6) BITE-SIZED 7) READING ,WRITING & WRONGING 8) THE CHAMELEON 9) HE WHO LAUGHS LAST 10) THE DEEP FREEZE 11) DEAD RINGERS 12) CURSES OILED AGAIN 13) BIRDS OF A FATHER FOOL AROUND TOGETHER 14) HAVE AN EVIL DAY ( PART 1 & 2) 15) THIS LIKE A JOB FOR BATMITE CAST BATMAN / BRUCE WAYNE ....................................ADAM WEST ROBIN / DICK GRAYSON........................................BURT WARD BATGIRL/ BARBARA GORDON / CATWOMAN ........MELENDY BRITT BATMITE / BATCOMPUTER ....................................LOU SCHEIMER COMMISIONER GORDON and VILLAINS..................LENNIE WEINRIB show aired CBS..........................................................................2/10/77 TO 9/03/77 CBS (BATMAN / TARZAN AVENTURES HOUR............9/10/78 TO 9/02/78 NBC (BATMAN / SUPER 7 ) .......................................9/27/80 TO 9/5/81 ART ..........................................FILMATIONS

Wow! I had to go and dig out the old video tape I had of some episodes...the picture quality was pretty bad but it brought back memories...I got the old "New Batman Adventures" theme in my head right now! What was funny was the end promo's for other CBS shows on the tape as the credits for the show ran.
One of the most memorable things for me from the old Filmation Batman series was the end credits sequence where Batman would run and swing on the flag pole, do the back flip and land in the Batmobile...I used to always put the cape on the outside of the car when I played with the toys, just like the show.

Bat-Mite appeared in every episode of this series as the comedy relief, although his features and costumes were changed. Actually, Filmation's style of animation was far superior to Hanna-Barbara's IMO. Although Filmation's characters were more stiff, the artwork was not sketched, or incomplete sometimes as was the case at HB.

If I remember correctly the ending credits had Bats flipping around through Gotham. I also seem to rememberthat the "routine" resembled a similar one in the Tarzan credits. Am I right or is old age ccatching up w/ me?

My favorate villian was Clayface. I also liked Moonman who was created for the show. Moonman was Bruce Wayne's friend an Astronaut ( I forget his name I think his last name was Rogers) who was affected by a metor and changes into The Moonman. He was African American as well. Rogers never knew he changed into the Moonman either! Batman fights another friend who is a villian! I love The New Adventures of Batman. I have all episodes on tape. Batgirl/ Barbara Gordon was very interesting as well. Barbara Gordon in this series is an Asst. District Attorney in the series and was Bruce's friend/ girl friend. She was older not unlike in Post- Crisis where Grayson and Barbara were lovers. I think Pre-Crisis anyway Barbara was more of a love interest for Bruce. Kind of an interesting Batman Begins similarity.

The New Adventures of Batman is my number one, all time favorite cartoon series. It was where I was first exposed to the Batman characters and I like all 16 episodes, even the Sweet Tooth episode, which I feel is the worst of the bunch. The Moon Man was my favorite original villain and the best episode as far as I'm concerned. I also have the complete series on video, though I would love it even more if WB considered it for a future DVD release. BTW, the Moon Man's real name is Scott Rogers. Hope this helps Cheers.

Id want the first series released first though on dvd. The eps a decade before Batmite. The ones that were on the Super Powers collection. If it was just the Batmite ones released I would take forever to get them. But if the first ones were released first, then the Batman dvd completionist would come out in me and Id get the rest. I still cant stand how they ditched ALfred for Batmite and a talking computer.

Personally, I would like to see BOTH Batman series by Filmation released on DVD together as a big boxset. Because after all, even though they were a decade apart, it is still the same version of Batman and Robin as well as Batgirl, Joker, and Penguin. Other characters like Catwoman, Commissioner Gordon, and Mr. Freeze were redesigned and characters like Alfred, the Riddler, BatMite, and Clayface can be found on one series or another. Combining both gives you what I feel would be the perfect animated Silver Age Batman collection. If anybody from Warner Bros happens to see this, please consider my suggestions. It would be awesome to see all of them together, as well as the similarities and differences in animation styles between the two series. It would also be cool if they could do interviews with Casey Kasem, Adam West, Burt Ward, Lou Scheimer, and anyone else alive who was involved with the classic Batman cartoons. I myself wonder what made Filmation decide to do a second Batman series, why they used the same character designs, and most notably, why the Riddler wasn't included in the series. The Challenge of the SuperFriends legality is my theory, but I'd like to know the rest of the story. I would definitely buy both series on DVD and I feel that they would make a great seller if they were sold together. Cheers.

It would also be nice to see both the 1968 and the 1977 series released on DVD. They do have historical significance.

I read somewhere that Clayface appeared in this series but I haven't seen any pics, I don't remember seeing him in the show and it would be interesting to see how he was animated back then. Does anyone know where I might find some images?

Clayface looks pretty cool. It makes me curious about other filmation interpretations of the characters.

One interesting note. I find it interesting when it came to Catwoman, we saw 2 completely different versions in both Filmation series.
1: In the Adventures of Batman (1968) Filmation used the incarnation of Catwoman that was in the comics at the time during the late 1960's with the green outfit. Only thing was, Jane Webb's voice portrayal of Catwoman was too screechy. Sounded more like a witch.
2: In the New Adventures of Batman (1977), Filmation dreamed up that new yellow and orange outfit since I don't recall seeing that version in any comics. However, I loved Melendy Britt's voice over for Catwoman. She had a very sexy and seductive voice.
Cheers.

Speaking of DVDs...and what should come out. Here in Miami there is like 300 spanish speaking channels. One night like at 3 in the morning I was flipping channels and happen to see this woman in a bikini wearing the batgirl mask, cape, glove and boots...she was fighting some men on a pirate ship...Yeah, who can change the channel after that? It was filmed in the 70's and I beleive the title was "Batchica attaca" which translates to Batgirl Attacks.
Mind you, it was all in spanish with that 70's porn style music. I was like, dude...I am hallucinating...Well I called a buddy and he caught it also. (Im hunting that movie down, like you have no idea) As soon as I get it, you bet your ninnies that I will post it on Youtube and then share with all of you!!!

I have not seen the 1968 version, but hope to. I know that Jane Webb, who did the 1968 Feline Fatale, was already older by that time, so this was not surprising. Also, these cartoons were not like cartoons done 35 years later, where more care was taken. Many performers, such as Ted Knight, were stretched very, very thin, doing many roles.
