Read all about it here. No release dates or characters yet, but I'm sure they'll be coming soon. Sounds like it could be the first online rpg that I actually decided to try.

Oh dear god. I don't play a lot of games, but the fiance does. So far, we've avoid on-line stuff. It just doesn't appeal to us. But a DCU online thing might be what pushes me over the edge.
I wonder how that would work? Would everybody have to make unique characters? Not everybody can be Batman. In which case, how would that be different from City of Heroes? Guess we'll find out.

Not everybody can be Batman. Just speculation on my part - there could be quite a few Batman characters. Bruce as Batman - both blue/grey and black/grey costumes, Azrael Batman, Batman Begins, 89 costume, Kilmer costume, Clooney costume, Batman Beyond, DKR Batman, Batman Year One, etc. That's 10 different versions of Batman - all distinctly different. Not to mention all the elseworlds Batman characters we could get. My wife is gonna hate this. I spend too much time online as it is...

Im really curious how this game will work. My honest guess, is it'll just be a DC/WB version of City Of Heros. As its been stated, not everyone can be Bats/Supes etc. I think you make your own hero/side-kick or whatever and you can interact with NPC versions of the main characters, much like SOEs Star Wars Galaxies. I play SW Galaxies and I used to play EQ2 and City of Heros, so Im really curious as to how they are gonna tackle this concept. Definatly worth looking into when/if its released but if its just another CoH, it wont be a good game.

You're right...It wouldn't work if everyone was Batman, or Superman, whatever... I've always wanted a fully-detailed Gotham City MMORPG, where you could, basically, do anything you wanted in terms of an online "career". It would take place within the comic's map of Gotham, allowing for you to, say, thwart a hostage situation in Robinson Park. How they [DC Comics] could weave this into the over-all fabric of the comics continuity, is take the best of the best online every month, and feature their characters/ their stories in a new title, allowing you to read about the exploits of the online characters in a spin-off Bat comic... You want to be a GCPD officer? You can. You want to be a masked vigilante attempting to catch the eye of the Dark Knight himself? You can. You want to be super-villian/ crime boss? You can. Just imagine the possibilities...
