My thanks to all of you who wrote about me doing more cover artwork for The Batman Strikes. I wanted to let you all know that I will be doing the cover for issue #27. I think it had more to do with the fact that Dave was unavailable that month than with any perceived clamoring from the fans, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.
I'll post the cover design sketches I submitted (as soon as I figure out how) and you can guess which one was chosen! As soon as DC releases the actual cover design (with the issue #27 solicitation presumably) I'll post the finished pencils for everyone to see.
Thanks again, all!
Chris

Ok gang..what you've all been waiting for! These are the different cover designs that Chris gave to DC as options. Which number is the final pick? I've seen the pencils on the final cover...and oh, man is it sweet! Batman Strikes #27 has not yet been solicited by DC, but LoG exclusively announced that its a fill-in issue by an exciting new creative team last June. We're going to make this an official contest! **EDIT - the prize has been announced -- one winner will receive a copy of this issue (once its released) signed by Christopher Jones. Reply to this post with your number selection. You may vote once..one number...and you cannot modify your post. Once you post your selection, its locked in. The contest will end on the day of the next solicitation, after which we will post the final pencils on the actual cover. I will draw randomly from those that select the correct design for the prize. (TBA) Good luck! Cover Design #1Cover Design #2Cover Design #3Cover Design #4Cover Design #5

The cover for the previous Catwoman story had just a close-up of Catwoman's face for the cover (with reflections in the mask lenses), so I asked Nachie if he wanted an action shot for this one. He said yes. I asked if it needed to include both Catwoman AND Batman, and Nachie said yes. So that was my direction for this, and I gave Nachie five options to choose from.
I'd have been happy drawing all of them, although I did have my favorites.
I'm curious to hear what people think. If people have one pick for their guess as to which was chosen, but a DIFFERENT one is their favorite, I'd be interested to hear about that as well...

I'm going to have to go with number 1. You really sense Catwoman's sleek physique in this picture, which captures that of a feline I think. And Batman in the air is a familiar symbol which Im fond of, that shows his determination.

Hmmm... I also quite like them all! My personal fave of the bunch may be #4? As for which one I "think" is most likely the chosen official cover?... I'm taking #1!

[shadow=green,left,300] I picked #4 but I have to say I liked #3 a bit more but I made my decision and so #4 it is in my opinion. They are all great and this is quite a tricky contest Good luck everyone [/shadow]

Numbers 1 and 4 are just a bit too 'busy' for my tastes. # 5 looks like an interior panel to me.
That leaves #3 and #2. Based on the previous art of Chris' that I've seen, I'm going with #2 for my final choice Regis.

As the writer of the issue in question, I'll say the spotlight aspect of #2 matches part of the story rather well -- as does the rooftop chase in #5.
I can't wait to see the final version, too!! (Chris, e-mail me if you could. I'd love to talk!)

Excuse us for a moment while we clear up what's what.
UPDATED TO ADD:
OK, I got it all cleared up. Christopher is right; my issue with Sanford has been postponed a bit. No worries, though -- it's still good stuff.
