*edit - LoG has verified with Lego that the box art is real. We can now confirm what we've known for awhile, Lego is doing a Batman themed line! - /\/\att

OK, so I'm a skeptic: The box seems fake to me, even for a prototype.

Yes, it is true. I verified this with Lego yesterday morning, but I was ill all day so I haven't been online.
We'll be interacting with Lego a bit here, so hold on to your hats! This is what a lot of fans have been waiting for!

are lego sets to scale with C3?
The few mini-mates released might finally have a Batcave that WON'T collaspe on them to chill in if they are.

That's unknown at this point Dr. I'm guessing that they won't be, since the Spidey lines weren't to scale with 'mates either. LEGO will probably want to develop their own 'brand identity' with this line, rather than make it compatible with what's come before it unfortunately. They can always be customized though.... ;D

Reid, just read your post over at the Asylum. Are you certain that the line will be based on 'toon and the comics? Also, another question: will the mini figs be done with yellow heads or flesh tones?

:oYes! !! This is so great, what a dream come true. And he's holding a Batarang!!!! Thanks for the image generalgrievous! Also, another question: will the mini figs be done with yellow heads or flesh tones? Probably flesh tone. I thought LEGO has said somewhere that any of their lines based on an outside story (like Star Wars, Spider-Man, Harry Potter) would have flesh tone mini figures.

Reid, just read your post over at the Asylum. Are you certain that the line will be based on 'toon and the comics? That info was posted on eurobricks (somewhere within the 10 - 12 pages I read thru yesterday...) by one of their mod/admin type people. That I don't know yet. The photo looks like it will be flesh toned - but we all know that things shown at Toy Fair can change. We've seen some killer stuff from Toy Fair years past and it's either a) never shown up OR b) been changed/toned down enough that I no longer want to purchase it when it finally does get released. (The one Toy Fair piece that I'm still really PO'ed about was the Big O line that Bandai was going to put out a few years back. A little part of me died when my Bandai contact confirmed that it had been cancelled.)

My guess is LEGO is moving towards flesh tones. Being a long time AFOL I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I've seen that term recently in my exploration of LEGO forums. Please excuse my ignorance - what does AFOL mean?

Thanks. With all the references to the yellow vs flesh tone along with that acronym, I thought it had something to do with the yellow figures somehow.

"Official"..*breathe* press..huff,huff, release:
Batman™
Through an agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, LEGO Group acquires construction toy license for the classic Batman brand, inspired by the pages of DC Comics' comic books; Warner Bros. Animation's hit television series, The Batman; Warner Bros. Pictures' blockbuster feature film, Batman Begins, which debuted in theaters this past summer and any related theatrical releases or television programs that are produced during the period of this deal.
Beginning in April 2006, LEGO Group will introduce six Batman products featuring constructible play sets with strong vehicle focus, cool functionality, gadgets and a library of collectible mini-figures.
The LEGO Batman product line replicates the collectible craze the company created around its best-selling LEGO Harry Potter™ series - where sets are designed to be combined to further the storyline and role play opportunities.
"Our partnership with the LEGO brand on Harry Potter has been an extremely successful one and we are excited about building our relationship through Batman," said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President of Domestic Licensing, Global Toys, Publishing and Themed Entertainment for Warner Bros. Consumer Products. "LEGO Group brings a wealth of creativity and quality to the products they produce and are uniquely positioned to meet the high level of expectations we have for Batman, one of our marquis brands."
LEGO Batman will be supported with TV, print and online ads, Web content, LEGO Club, targeted events, a model tour and retail promotions

Okay, more cool news. An "in the know" MOD at Eurobricks says we'll be getting 10 villians in the first 6 sets......thats 10...."so Blocko, why have you always been an AFOL?" One of best things 'bout Lego folks is the shop@home, no "but I haven't seen 'em in my neck of the woods". No sir, just click away and it'll come to you. "But Blocko" you say, " I'm a real perfectionist when it comes to paint applications etc." no prob, they'll take 'em back even opened. I'm rambling I know. But it's Batman Legos!!!!!!Build'em take them apart. Make your own Bat villians! WHOOOHOOOOO!
