I just saw TDK last night (wednesday) in iMax, thanks to my dear friend, Becky.
I know we're reading all of these reviews from other websites, but you're thinking, yeah well these aren't crazy Batman fans..so how do they really know if I'll like it or not.
I'm here to tell you, friends, that this movie not only lives up to the hype..it exceeds it.
I went into the film skeptical..wanting to be objective. It swept me off my feet almost immediately. Its astounding. One of the best quality films I've ever seen.
Heath Ledger...there are no words for him. This is the essence of the Joker we know and love..the one from the comics. The way he's supposed to be. I actually began to root for him during so many scenes! lol.
One of the great Joker scenes to watch out for..the pencil trick. I died laughing...I want to know if anyone else will, too.
The Batpod...I was a little skeptical about this one...yeah I was wrong. Its amazing.
Harvey..its no secret that two-face is in this film...and he is IN this film. You will see plenty of the grothesque Harv. I feel that his character, though, pales in comparison to the Joker..and two-face is my personal favorite villain!
I didn't even notice that it was two and a half hours long. It didn't even slightly occur to me.
The next time someone asks you "hey, why are you such a big Batman fan?" You can hand them this film and say "here..this is why". This is the single most definitive work I have ever seen on the Dark Knight..this is it. This IS Batman.
I won't post many spoilers..I will say of course that people die. Its very emotional. If anyone has questions, I'm happy to answer them via PM.
now..SPOILER WARNING (not big spoilers, just some details) (page down)
Highlight to read.... Scarecrow is, of course, in the film..don't expect to see him for more than one scene.
The Joker does live in the end
Harvey Dent looks to be dead

I also saw TDK on Wednesday and I give it a 9 out of 10. This version is closer to the comic book version of Batman. He creates new gadgets on his own. Being somewhat brutal with Salvatore Maroni and does some detective work. Nestor Carbonell in the movie as an inside joke. (If you don't know, google) But the real gem is Ledger as the Joker. This is a movie you will diffently see twice or even three times.

Oh my F%$#@!@ gosh!!! I loved the film too! I believe that this IS the best Batman movie of all time and no other movie will defeat it!! Except MAYBE a future Nolan film. But only one of his films. I was glad Scarecrow wasn't in it for very long. I loved Heath Ledger's Joker!!!! (I DIED LAUGHING AT THE PENCIL TRICK TOO!!) The Joker is my favorite villain and he was beyond words. Two-Face was excellent! The only thing is The Joker overthrew him! I didn't even notice it was two and a half hours! It was the fastest two hours of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was never skeptical about this film, I knew it would live up to the hype!
By the way, it makes you proud to say your a Batman fan that TDK broke Star Wars III's midnight showing earnings of $16.9 million dollars, TDK made over $20 million! We're now at $164 million total and trying to break Spider-Man 3's record opening weekend earnings.
I suggest everyone see this movie, it's a MUST SEE, not just for Bat-Fans but for everyone! Heck even see it two times! This movie is going to propel comic book movies to another level!!
Can anyone help me? I don't get the end! Why do they break the bat-signal and chase after him, it went too fast for me (the end).

[shadow=green,left,300] Amazing film, one of the best i will ever see in my life. Heath exceeded my thoughts and is indeed my preference for Joker, he is The Joker. I was shocked, I am going to see the film again on Monday... Heath, thank you for the gift you gave us, the Joker I always wanted. The pencil trick made me nearly die of laughter and well, I don't want to say too much seeing I don't want to spoil... Just see the movie, you will be glad you did, and willl die if you don't. He gave us a classic criminal and I give it a 10 out of 10. [/shadow]

There are very few films that you get extremely excited over and they don't disappoint. It is far rarer to have a film surpass those expectations. Bravo! I want to see it again.
There were a couple of minute things that I noticed. It seems like the city looks quite a bit different. Wayne Enterprises looks much different and it looks like the city didn't bother to rebuild the train.

Highlight to read....
Harvey Dent looks to be deadI don't know about that. I would say that Harvey Dent and his ideals are gone, but Two-Face, nuh-uh. Also, I FREAKIN' LOVED THIS MOVIE!

Just saw the film... Wow... nothing else to say but wow...
The pencil gag had me laughing, too.
Now that _ _ _ _ _ _ has _ _ _ _ , I would like to see Selina Kyle make an appearance in Gotham as Sal Maroni's best prostitute turned Catwoman. Throw in Black Mask as an up and coming mob boss, not to mention his secret identity as Bruce Wayne's old friend Roman (maybe he could be _ _ _ _ _ _ ' _ old friend also who comes back to _ _ _ _ _ )
There are so many possibilities for the next film, but I don't think any of them will live up to this movie.
Amazing.

Can anyone help me? I don't get the end! Why do they break the bat-signal and chase after him, it went too fast for me (the end). hmm, lets see, this is probably a SPOILER, so be WARNED those who havent seen it... basically Batman told Gordon to blame him (Batman) for the things Two Face did. Batman was afraid that if the people of Gotham knew someone as good as Harvey Dent could go bad, they would lose hope just when they were beginning to have hope. so Batman's taking the fall and now he's on the run. and the whole thing with the bat-signal is basically symbolic, they're now anti-Batman. (opinion) im assuming that if they make a third movie, Batman will be clearing his name as one of the plot lines.

Yep, amazing. Its really hard to see how this one could be topped. I'm kinda hoping Two Face isn't dead, but I also hope he would not be the main focus of the third film.

Saw it - was blown away by it - and can say only this: 'Begins' was relatively safe - this movie was not, and I love Team Nolan for stepping out there and ramping it up to the point they did.

Saw it - was blown away by it - and can say only this: 'Begins' was relatively safe - this movie was not, and I love Team Nolan for stepping out there and ramping it up to the point they did. I think you said exactly what I wanted to say about it. I am so glad that they brought it up to the next level without making it 'R' rated. Everything was awesome, however, I wasn't too thrilled with Maggie Gyllenhaal taking Katie Holmes place. For the life of me, I just couldn't get over the bags under her eyes (You'll notice them now that I pointed them out!). But I was happy with her performance, but it gagged me to see Christian Bale kissing her. :-P .. Ok now that I got that out, Everything was better than I could of imagined! I do hope that Two-Face comes back at least for a bit in the third film, if there is one. I really dont think he is exactly dead yet. I have seen this movie twice now and I plan on seeing as much as I can, especially at the discount theaters when it comes out there!!! TDK is just so much more .. entertaining, than Batman Begins. I just laugh my head off everytime I see The Joker on the screen, just cause .. I get him. I get his humor and Heath Ledger did such an awesome job with bringing him to life!! This movie explains well the relationship between Batman and The Joker, and I hope that the average citizens get it. This is my favorite line in the movie I think, "..I'm like a dog chasing cars! I wouldn't know what to do with one if I ever caught it!"

i hope and pray that there is a third film(warner bros cant afford not to cash in) but i think it should be the last one in the series and they need to keep the original cast.i'd hate to see the franchise going the joel schumacher route.
