While at the local discount store the other day my son and I came across two Batman Deluxe action figures...Battle Sled Batman and Drill Cannon Batman. At first I thought I thought they were a cheap knockoff but they had all of the DC, WB and Mattel trademarks. There is a "Republic of Argentina" mark on the back of the package. They look kind of neat but distinctively different from the US versions of Batman. Does anyone know anything about these figures...like are they hard to come by here in the States and does anyone else collect them. I paid $5.99 a piece for them. My son wants to open them but I'm resisting since I prefer them MOC.

No not hard to come by at all im afraid. These are official product. specifically from Mattel's original 6" Batman "comic line" from the early '00s (the precursor to the current 6" DCSH / DCUC). Some of that line is scarce, most are not and can still be found online (some even still in stores such as discount outlets like Big Lots). Both Deluxe Drill Cannon Batman and Battle Sled Bats (also affectionately called "banana boat bats") were the most plentiful peg warmers near the end of the line. Oddly enough, Battle Sled Batman was originally rare and sought after as he was only released overseas. Sometime near the line's demise, huge surplus shipments of that figure found their way specifically to Big Lots stores. The scarce / rare figures were the final wave that was only released over seas (including the original Bane and Scarecrow later retooled and released in the first assortment of DCSH). This was a great line with much potential but plagued by endless and often ridiculous Batman variants. Im proud to have most the entire collection.
