Does a dinged window or some card edge wear get under yoir skin? How about a lost accessorry? For me it would have to be either a bubble ding and edge wear. I aint too fond of dust either. ;D How about you? Whats your biggest pet peeve?

I take my figures out of the package, but regarding condition I don't care about lost accesories unless they are neccesary and something that character really uses. My main pet peeve is when some of the paint is scratched off and/or there are marks on it. And of course if the figure is busted(missing a body part etc....)

I am not a MIB collector; I have some items kept that way, but most of my stuff is on display. Dust is a bummer that affects all of my collection, especially all of the crevices that are hard to reach. Obviously damage is the worst thing that can happen-especially if you inflict the damage yourself!

I'm an opener all the way, but I still insist on buying things in thir original packging, unopened. I really don't care about the condition of the box itelf, I just want to always be the one to open my figures. I kind of feel like the experience of collecting isn't complete without that feeling I get when I open the package and take out my figure. Plus, no matter how good the condition of a loose figure, in my mind, it has already been exposed to many factors that could have damaged it, however minimally, and odds are it's been played with, and I like to be the one to play with my figs for the first time. Sounds weird, eh?

Very, very addictive...uhhh, I still have the Yamato Batgirl MOC downstairs...I'll be right back.

There's nothing like getting hit with that first waft of new Plastic and Paint when you open that packet.............ahhhhh.
Er....anyways,i open about 75% of my stuff these days so packaging quality of them is not a big deal as long as the fig is intact and the Paint Apps tidy. The stuff i do like to keep mint i am very fussy about the quality of the packagng as that is the point of keeping them that way.I'm just glad that the majority of items i acquire the packaging doesn't matter, especially with the amount of items i have to source from overseas.

Sounds weird, eh? I couldn't agree more.many, many times I have paid more for a figure or item I could have got loose for less than half the price, just so I can be the one opening it.whenever I have buckled and got a loose example, there always seems to be "something" wrong with it,and I can never be sure if its just my imagination or not...as for dust, yeah I hate it,but I almost never dust my collection, because whenever i move my figures off my shelf I can never, ever get them to look as good as they first did when I put them up there,I can never seem to get the pose and angle just right again So now I just usually blow off any dust I can,and leave it be...

I'll admit I LIKE getting stuff in dinged up packaging 'cuz it makes opening the package less of a trauma and it's still great to get the thing out for the first time!

I am pretty new to Batman collecting, but have collected car models, especially F1 cars for a few years, and I like to keep as much as possible MIB.
Although i've been a Batman fan for many years, Batman Begins is the first movie that I've been able to a) buy stuff for myself, and b) source the items I want, with my discovering ebay about a year ago.
So I have gone crazy with the Begins merchandise, buying 2 of the items I want to open, to keep 1 MIB/MOC. When buying something in person, I go for the 1 or 2 best figures I can see, so I check all of them and pick the 2 best regarding paint apps and condition of the card/box. If I'm gonna keep something MIB/MOC for the future, it better had be perfect when I buy it, or else its pointless in keeping it unopened cos its flawed anyway.
so overall, I'm veeeeeeeery picky when it comes to the condition.
I got 2 'Battle Gear' Begins figures, and before opening one of them, I compared them to each other, and finally decided to open the one I considered to be the worst (imperfections in paint apps on the face, bleeding onto the cowl etc.), because I wanted to keep the better one MOC, and I figured I could fix the bad one with some paint (which I did). But I still opened it very carefully and removed everything carefully so I could return it to the packaging if I didn't want to display it. I tore the bubble carefully from the card on 3 of its edges, so the top edge remained glued, so i could slip the shell in and out, and in theory could be glued together to look as good as if it was never opened. Thats the only 1 of the Begins figures I opened, and I only bought 1 of all the other figures I could find.
Subsequently, I bought 2 Deluxe Collectors Edition 5" figures, so returned the Battle Gear one to its packaging, and now have a CE figure displayed (again, I opened the one which had damage to the box, and kept the other perfect one wrapped and safe).

I love opening stuff too -so the box condition means sweet FA to me.I too love being the one to open my stuff but when I got the first release of Bruce Wayne by Mattel for the comic line he only had the makings of one boot which really p****d me off-but since I display him as Bruce and not green Batman I got over it pretty quick. I often open my DCD stuff with trepidation as 4 times things have broke coming out of the bubble and thats just not good-but overall its things being broken or bad paint jobs that get me

I open my figs but keep the packaging nice and put it in storage. Alot of work goes into making packages and I don't want to ruin it.

For me it depends on the item and purpose for the purchase. Primarily though its only a consideration if its something I intend to keep MOC (which is a good amount of my stuff nowadays).. but then I'm only SO concerned. Naturally, I'll pick and choose the best all around condition if possible, but I'm not a nut about it. Some basic wear and tear Etc. is unavoidable and acceptable IMO (unlike some people who nearly faint if the object has ever come in contact with human hands!?).

[shadow=red,left,300]It really depends on the piece. If it's a vintage carded or boxed item then I'm cool with dinged corners, shelf wear, etc. But if it's something just recently released, I do try to find the package in the best condition. If it's a fig or vehicle I really like then I'll buy another to open.[/shadow]

I open figures and display them loose so box condition is not important. Having said that there are some items I want to buy again so that I have some MIB items such as the Hush figures. When I got my Jason Todd Hush figure the packaging was dented so it was not too heartbreaking to open it up but when I do hunt for a MIB one, if it should turn up as damaged I will not be pleased. Dust is a problem with the loose stuff but I find those aerosol cans full of compressed air shift it out of the crevices nicely and are good for the cloth capes. The biggest dust magnet on my shelves at the moment is the Mattel Tumbler. Great toy but gets really dusty quick with all those little indentations and all. I think the biggest bug bear for me is paint chips, especially when it is a new figure.

It depends on the item...Most of my collection's beat-up and wouldn't go for the price you originally paid for in any kind of market setting, but, they're valuable to me and that's what matters at the end of the day...
If it's something that I'm going to use for display purposes only (Like a signed Superman: Red Son graphic novel and accompanying action figure) then the condition is extremely important...
