My friend Jason is a huge Riddler fan. He recently found his old Mego Riddler doll in his parent basement and wanted me to restore it as best I could. He told me that could be his Christmas gift. This thing was shot. No clothes or belt. The joints were very loose from an almost broke rubberband. The head was the worst. Very dirty and stained and the paint on the hair and mask was almost completely gone. I was like, oookay. But I would not abandone a Mego. I was determined to fix him up. All Jason wanted was to have him back with his outfit. I had to do more. I was finally able to grab an outfit off evilbay for a decent price. It wasnt in the best of shape. I had to resew one of the arms, sew back on the original snaps, and gently hand wash the suit. There is a worn spot on the upper chest, but overall, after the fix up, it turned out pretty decent. I picked up a replica belt from Dr. Mego. I replaced the band and got Riddler all tight and back together. The head was terrible. After I washed the head about 5 times with warm water and soap, I got it almost completely clean. I repainted the hair and mask, put the suit on him and belt, and voila, Riddler had new life. With his "rebirth", he needed something more. I went and bought a dislay case to put him in. Custom made a card for the backdrop and custom made a cane for him from sculpey. I glued in a doll stand to the bottom of the case, glued green felt over that, and well, this is the final result.
Now I cant wait until Christmas to give it to him.
