You're forgetting too many classics. * Superman II * Batman * Batman Returns * Spider-Man * Spider-Man 2 * X-Men * Heck, even the original Batman Begins
Definately not the best of all time. The media blew it up BIG TIME. Besides, on all the lists I've seen so far, Iron Man takes the cake from The Dark Knight. I haven't seen Iron Man yet, but just because it's the most current DOESN'T mean it's the best.

Superman: The Movie remains the best comic book / super hero movie to date IMO. There have been some good and even great ones since, and some have come close, but none have surpassed it yet in my mind.

How can you say that Iron Man is better than The Dark Knight when you haven't even seen it yet? Let's not jump the gun here; I only said that's how it went on all the lists I've seen.

I wish Ledger hadn't died; period, maybe more Joker, and it would be easier to judge the popularity of TDK. It really is hard to decide. Indeed Slash all of those are good & original Superman, yes Batlaw. I liked Iron Man, and really it & DK are in two different camps of films. That's another issue with deciding, what is your favorite type? I will say though, of the year; I didn't see like Hellboy 2 but I saw Hulk, Dark Knight would be my favorite. Otherwise...who knows what the best comic film ever is. Different camps & each film has their own goodness to them...

I don't think there is a definitive answer. For me, from the comic page to screen, Spiderman 2 is hard to beat. But I have watched TDK more on DVD. Even if you remove the superhero element, TDK would have still been a great thriller. It really is each to his own on this one. I find Iron man no better than the original Hellboy.

IMO TDK is easily the greatest comic book movie.
Iron-man and Batman Begins right behind it.

To be honest, I for once, just want to see an honest to goodness comic book movie that actually follows a comic. Is that so difficult? Who wouldn't want to see "Killing Joke" or "Death in the Family" as a movie? Instead, we get writers and directors who either have never read the comics, or only read them as a kid.

What about Sin City? Didn't Sin City (2005) follow the comic books exactly?

No. But it was close. Robert Rodriguez is a comic book fan. It also helped that Frank Miller was co-director.

Well while I wouldn't mind seeing elements of my favorite stories incorporated into the films I really don't want to see the books made into films unless they are animated. I don't think the general public wants to go to the theater and pay $ to see Babs Gordon shot in the spine or Robin beaten with a crow bar.

It was ment as a funny. You said that there wasn't a movie that surpassed Superman 1, and so I chose a lame movie.

That's true, I suppose, but, I still think that it wouldn't be to much to ask to make a comic movie that has more to do with the comic, then just make stuff up.

I really didn't care for any of the five Superman movies. Neither. I think they're garbage. The Dark Knight easily beats every single one of them.
