Here are the 'Ask Matty' Questions and Answers for early February 2009!
Thanks to Mattel, as always, for taking the time to listen to the fans.
-------------------------------------------------
LOG: There was quite a ruckus caused in early January from a picture of a custom Michael Keaton Batman figure that was photoshopped to look like a scan from ToyFare and an early look at a Movie Masters release for fall 2009. The fans went nuts for it...does Mattel see this fan interest? Is there anything else we can do to show the extent of this interest?
Matty: We are well aware of fan interest in this and other past live action DC properties and are working hard to try and bring them to toy shelves. Live action properties require a lot more elbow grease compared to comic lines as it brings up more legal issues such as likeness rights and studio copyrights. We are reviewing these to see which lines might be possible in the future.
-------------------------------------------------
LOG: What can you tell us about the release of future JLU figures? A lot of us missed out on the 4-packs from the holiday season at Target and since they're not being re-released, will we see singles of characters like KG Beast or Shadow Thief anytime soon? Any info on other characters that will be released as singles that you can give us pre-Toy Fair?
Matty: We did hear back from fans that the last two 6 packs were a bit harder to find (although they were produced in the same quantity as the first 6 packs of 08). Matty did comment on his Facebook page that we will look at putting those characters into the eventual re-release bucket along with characters like Deadshot and Barda. It may not happen right away, but we will get to re-releasing these figures eventually.
-------------------------------------------------
LOG: This years con exclusive figure(s)....we realize that you probably can't release yet what it is, but can we know if its JLU, Dc Universe Classics, etc?
Matty: Right now the plan is to have both a DCUC and a JLU figure at SDCC. But plans do change and we should be ready to make an announcement in April.
