you will never get a movie or animated Batman figure made in 7" form from DC Direct. the line coming from DC Direct is not based on BFTC. its from Batman Reborn too.

Never say never. That was said about the TV Batmobiles too. Enough money changed hands enabling Mattel to make different Hot Wheels versions in different scales too.

Excellent point - remember, both DCD and Mattel are making Christopher Reeve Superman product. I would like to see: Keaton Bats Nicholson Joker But most of all, I would like DCD to do a 13" Miller Batman figure. Big, nasty, and gnarly, with a 10" Carrie Kelly Robin.

Dc Direct can make the figs, what i said is that they wont in that scale. Warner Brothers owns Dc Direct so they have the rights to all the film properties. the 7" line of figs is for comic based figures. thats how the line will remain.

So how do you explain the "Watchmen" figures that came out this summer and are becoming peg warmers at my local TRUs?

On a related note, I heard Target may get the DCD Blackest Night figures.

So how do you explain the "Watchmen" figures that came out this summer and are becoming peg warmers at my local TRUs? the Watchmen figures are mostly the comic versions. only 4 of the figs were movie figs and they were made to capitalize on the movie being out, which is why they were sold at general retail. the comic based Watchmen figs were not sold at retail. Watchmen is also a seperate property from the normal comics published by DC. Warner Brothers does not 100% own the rights to those characters which is why the movie took so long to come out. its also not a movie line, its a comic line with 4 movie versions of select characters added for retail stores. the main reason you wont see movie based figs is because DC sculpts full likeness and they would need to pay each actor they made to produce figs of them. if the figs dont sell enough or arent popular they lose money. you honestly think Michael Keaton wont demand money to have a fig made based on his likeness. he'd ask for more than normal too, since the Beetlejuice figs from NECA sold so well. and lastly, Hasbro holds the rights to produce figures based on the original Batman movie, and they will not sell it back to WB, nor will they allow their competitor, Mattel to gain those rights. so again i have to say, you will never a DC Direct regular scale action figure based on the 1989 Batman movie, nor will you see one get made based on any other DC comic based movie.
