okay since the Spider-Man thread died a long time ago and then the next one died before even starting, and X-Men thread died the same way awhile back, and since basically any and all single character threads seem to die i've decided to create an official Marvel Comics thread. this is the thread to discuss any and anything going on in any Marvel titles. the title of the thread will change from time to time to reflect whats being discussed or what's popular in the thread. lets start it off with Siege. Siege will be Marvel's closing to the excellent Dark Reign. Thor and related characters are going to figure prominantly into this series, as are all of the major players from the last year. i cant wait for this to begin next month. here's the checklist for anyone who hasnt seen it or wants to keep track (notice that its Steve Rogers in the picture and that Loki is male. it has me curious.):

I seriously cannot wait for Siege. Hopefully it lives up to the hype, not to mention that everything may go back to normal after all this. I predict that by the end, both New and Mighty Avengers teams will merge into one team, while the Dark Avengers is cancelled and the remaining members form a new Masters of Evil. Mighty will be cancelled and New Avengers will drop the new and be called The Avengers again so the original numbering will come back by #600. But aside from speculation, here's a preview for the first issue of Siege, and man this is already shaping up to be something epic. www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=32248Aside from Siege, I think Doomwar look interesting. And The Gauntlet story in Amazing Spider-Man going on right now is cool as well, especially with so many classic villains returning. Turning to Ultimate Marvel, has anyone else read Ultimatum? Yikes.

^ The Gauntlet has been good so far. i cant wait for the arc with Mister Negative & Mysterio. and Morbius is supposed to be coming back too. i'm excited.
and DoomWar is very intriguing. its amazing to see how many characters Doom is involved with. he's basically enemies with everyone right now.
and Siege definitely looks like its going to be good. alot of warring factions, backstabbing, some mysteries (like Osborn's secret weapon), the Captain America stuff will be very interesting as well. right now Red Skull is in Cap's body, but we'll see what happens in Reborn #5 next week. thats been a great series too.

Who do you think his secret weapon is? Based on Task Masters and Hood's reaction in "The Cabal", it's gotta be someone really powerful. I had theories that it could've been Mephisto or Scarlet Witch, but I got a feeling it's gonna be someone we won't see coming.

^ its definitely someone powerful. i've read that it could be Miracleman. Marvel got the rights to the character over the summer. that would be different. i dont think its Mephisto because Norman would have reacted to his appearance when Molecule Man tried to drive him nuts with the constructs of Mephisto & Zarathos, but he could have been just playing along i guess. it also has to be a character thats easily manipulated. i mean the character seems to be quite loyal to Osborn, but it would seem a whole lot more powerful. Scarlet Witch would work well, but she's just too unstable that Norman couldnt control her without Magneto's help and he's on Utopia. i was thinking for awhile that it could be Vulcan. Black Bolt is supposedly still alive and lost in the Fault. Vulcan could've been warped back to Earth somehow or sent back in time and Norman found him with no memories. he's ridiculously powerful and no memories could work. but it is Bendis who is writing this and he loves his obscure & forgotten powerhouses like The Sentry & The Hood so it could very easily be a character who had a brief mini or someone who hasnt appeared in a long time. Marvel seems to be bringing back all the cool characters from the 90s. Nate Grey is back. Kaine is back. Magus came back. it could be someone who was a major character in the 90s. it also seems like the other characters know the weapon. thats why i dont think it could be Miracleman. the Asgardians are playing a large role in Siege so it could be an Asgardian. here's a teaser image for Siege of someone playing a large role in the story: media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/40/1018657-10082new_storyimage_57515716_527.0092226614x800_1_super.jpgand on another note, does anyone read Marvel's cosmic stuff. its been excellent since Annihilation and just keeps on rolling strong. Realm of Kings is gonna be so awesome. the one-shot has set it up beautifully. an evil doppelganger of Quasar. now thats a powerful character and since its an evil version we'll get to really see some stuff. Quasar shows his power, but not like villains do.

I had thoughts on Miracleman/Marvelman, but you'd think Marvel would like to introduce him in his own event. With everything happening in Siege, it could overshadow him. Here's a thought: what if the Sentry's Void side is coming about?

^ that could definitely be it. i can easily see it escape from Emma and go back to Sentry and take over. but i would think it'd be too powerful for Norman to control. Emma has to stay diamond to keep it from getting out. we're also forgetting the Bendis factor. he loves shocking revelations, so it could actually be a hero that he's using.

Each issue will have a Quesada variant which will all interlock: Since Sentry is attacking Osborn as well, this makes me think that Norman does bring out his Void side for his own use, which makes him very angry. Maybe Void is his secret weapon.

^ those are nice variants and a cool concept. it could be Hulkling too. Hulkling dealt with Osborn during Civil War and due to Secret Invasion, Hulkling is a character that most would fear right now. and then i was thinking back on 90s characters that havent been seen in a while, and with Kaine's recent return, it got me thinking that it could be Judas Traveller. it was never revealed if he lost his powers on M-Day, so he could have kept them. he's a pretty powerful mutant. who Osborn knows and who has worked for Osborn in the past. i'm loving all the mysteries right now.

here's another possibility, Korvac. the entire Korvac saga is being collected and released in Feb. he's ridiculously powerful, hasnt been seen in ages, and its just a bit odd that collection would get made, unless Korvac was to play a role in either Siege or Realm of Kings. he could be Osborn's weapon.

Okay, I know it's been awhile, but I think it's time for a Siege update. First up, spoilers for Siege #1 HIGHLIGHT TO READ: The story begins with Volstagg leaving Asgard in order to have adventures on Earth, while Osborn and Loki talk about using him to cause an incident similar to Stamford. Volstagg reaches Chicago where he intervenes in a robbery, he manages to stop the robbers but causes much collateral damage. He is then assaulted by the U-Foes. Their fight leads them to a packed football stadium. Vector and X-Ray bombard Volstagg with energy blasts, but while he manages to deflect their attacks, the blast's shockwave destroys and kills everyone in the stadium, causing the deaths of thousands of people, leaving Volstagg essentially unharmed, but horrified at the carnage he has inadvertently wrought. Osborn and Loki watch this in astral forms, now declaring that Asgard will now be held responsible for the disaster. Norman Osborn returns to his office, where the attack has reached the news networks. Victoria Hand comes in to the room, where Osborn tells her to tell the President that they have everything in Chicago under control. He also tells her to assemble the Avengers and the members of the Initiative loyals to him, declaring that they are invading Asgard. Later, Osborn is seen trying to convince Ares to come up with a plan to invade Asgard, even though Osborn promises Ares that nothing is wrong, Ares tells him that if he is lying, he will kill him. Then Osborn discusses with the rest of the Avengers about the plan. While they are worried about the plan, Osborn offers them the deal that if the invasion is successful, they don't have to work for him anymore. After that, Ares speaks in front of the Initiative, Avengers, and the entire H.A.M.M.E.R. to rally them up for the coming battle. Meanwhile in the White House, the President tells Ms. Hand that he wants to speak with Osborn directly that he is doing this without authority, he then realizes that Osborn has gone out of control. The scene changes to Loki coming before Balder, warning him that Midgard is moving against Asgard. The Siege of Asgard starts with the Sentry attacking Asgard, followed by a massive aerial assault led by Osborn himself. While this happens, Donald Blake says that Tony Stark's brain waves are still weak but are getting stronger everyday. He, along with Maria Hill, see the attack commence. Blake tells Hill to take Tony away from there as fast as possible. Blake then goes outside and transforms into Thor and heads directly towards Osborn, but gets attacked by the Sentry into the ground. Thor then manages to knock out the Sentry with one blow, but the combined blast from Osborn and several Initiative agents manage to hurt Thor, with Osborn managing to knock him out with one final blow. The Siege is being covered on the news, declaring that Thor has been brought down. All of this being watched by a furious Steve Rogers.Next another possible spoiler that possibly confirms that Void is indeed Norman's secret weapon: And finally, April previews for Siege and related titles. Interesting note: all 3 Avengers titles will be canceled as well. comics.ign.com/articles/106/1061476p1.htmlIt's gonna be a wild event.

Im putting this off till after Reborn. the end is already spoiled though. it was a big mistake for Marvel to add an issue. if they wanted to do 6 issues they should have started the series earlier. Who Will Wield The Shield already came out and its the epilogue to the series. even Captain America # 602 comes out before the 6th issue, and that starts a new story arc. and Siege started as well, which also gives things away. the series was great, but Marvel didnt time things out right at all. how they released the epilogue before the series finished is just ridiculous though.

Well we're not quite sure if this is indeed the new Avengers line-up or if it's just a poster for The Heroic Age altogether. In other news, here's a cool preview for Siege #2: comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=4324&disp=table

I guess the line-up in the teaser isn't the new Avengers line-up. Though I'm sure he'll have a teaser of his own, Spidey was pretty much confirmed to be on the team by Romita Jr. And I think it goes without saying Thor, Tony, and Clint will be there as well.

Man, Siege is really heating up. Here are spoilers for issue 2: As the battle in Asgard intensifies, Ares finds himself battling Balder and learns from Heimdall about Osborn's deceptions. Meanwhile outside, Osborn tells a battered and injured Thor that he is under arrest and that Asgard is now under his jurisdiction. Before he can take Thor into custody, Osborn is attacked with a rocket launcher by Maria Hill and a young man named Jason. After fending off Moonstone and X-Ray of the U-Foes, they help get Thor to safety. In Brooklyn, Steve Rogers delivers a speech to the assembled members of the New and Young Avengers and well as the Secret Warriors and tells them that they're going to take back their country. Back in Asgard as Osborn dispatches Daken to find Maria Hill, he is struck down by Ares, who vows to kill Osborn for his lies. But Ares is suddenly attacked by the Sentry and a brutal battle ensues. It then comes to a violent conclusion when the Sentry literally tears Ares in half before the horrified eyes of the combatants on both sides. Back in Brooklyn as the Avengers and Secret Warriors prepare to depart for Broxton, Bucky gives Steve back his shield. At first Steve refuses, but Bucky tells him that if he wants to take the country back from Osborn, he needs to put on his uniform and stand up. Jarvis then gives Steve a briefcase and asks him to give it to an unknown person(presumably Tony Stark)and asks him to help him. Nick Fury tell Phobos to stay behind to keep him out of danger. Phobos tries to use his powers against Fury, but he tells Phobos he's seen all there is to see in the world and that there's nothing he could do to scare him. Back in Broxton as Osborn declares martial law in order to flush out Thor and Maria Hill, Daken is blasted by a bolt of lighting and severely burned. Thor then declares that he will not hide from Osborn or his minions and will defend both Broxton and Asgard with his last breath. Osborn orders the Sentry to find and kill Thor, but then receives a message from Taskmaster telling him to turn around. As Osborn does, an reflection of Captain America's shield in his faceplate can be seen coming closer.

The Year of X-Men continues at the end of next month with Second Coming. this story is the final part of the Messiah Trilogy. its a 14 part weekly crossover running through Uncanny X-Men, X-Men Legacy, New Mutants, & X-Force. X-Factor will have a Revelations Tie-In and there will be a 3 issue mini-series dealing with Magik and a one-shot dealing with the X-Club that also tie into the story. Astonishing X-Men will run a completely seperate story relating to the Heroic Age. this is going to be so awesome. coming right after Necrosha ends too. i cant wait for this. the end of this series and the loose Phoenix plot threads are supposed to lead into the return of Jean Grey as well, which will be the next huge X-Men event. its an exciting time for us X-Men fans right now.

Ok, stupid question time: So everyone's playing nice after the whole Civil War deal? Last I read most wanted Tony Stark's head on a pike, since he was the driving force of regestration.
