www.newsarama.com/comics/neal-adams-batman-odyssey-100402.htmlDC Makes NEAL ADAMS' BATMAN: THE ODYSSEY Official...Finally By Michael Doran posted: 02 April 2010 10:17 am ETBuzz up! del.icio.us Officially confirming a project that the creator has spoken about publicly since 2007, Friday morning DC announced Neal Adam’s Batman: Odyssey 12 issues limited series will begin in July 2010. According to DC’s “The Source”, Odyssey finds Batman “facing a series of seemingly unrelated challenges, villains and allies, old and new, that push him to his limits as never before. The battles get more intense and, in turn, more deadly, The Dark Knight Detective discovers that there might be an over-arching force behind his troubles. And if this is so, if there is a dark and mysterious matrix being super-imposed over Batman's life... what sort of life-changing voyage must he go on to free himself from this powerful and insidious direction? “Worse... where can he go that he has never gone before for his desperately needed Odyssey?” "I have been collecting bits and pieces of Batman's life and time over the years since I was doing Batman regularly," Adams said. "With even this massive series, I haven't been able to shove them all in. but the juiciest and richest morsels are there. Have comic books always been this much fun?" Adams will write and pencil the entire series and will also ink the first two issues, followed by pairings with “some of the most lauded artistic collaborators in the comic book industry.” Not mention of Frank Miller was made in DC’s announcement, through Adams has stated in the past that Miller is helping him write the series. The series will star Bruce Wayne as Batman. Last October Adams told fans at the Big Apple Comic Con that, “Batman’s going to be Bruce Wayne and Robin’s going to be Dick Grayson. And The Joker’s going to be Joker, the Man-Bat’s going to be Man-Bat and Ra’s al Ghul is going to be Ra’s al Ghul.”

So much more excited about this than the Miller mini series. And I'll bet Neal finishes this on time!

Omg, Neal Adams? That's awesome! I would love to see him do something again! Not to mention it sounds like it'll be a great story too. I will definately have to get this off of Graham Crackers or something, since I don't have a comic shop.

To be honest All-star, I thought it looked bad as soon as I saw the cover.

I'm sure the finished product will look better, but I gotta ask - did Neal Adams ever draw for Mad Magazine?

I haven't read #1, but the buzz at CBR is that it's pretty bad. They keep saying bad writing but the art is good, but IMO the art is not good and people are just saying it's good because of the Neal Adams nostalgia.

I have read it and It is good and the art is outstanding. Don't believe what you hear read it for yourself and judge.

Yeah, I also read it and it's not that bad. I wouldn't call it outstanding but it's far from garbage like some people have been calling it. Growing up with Neil Adams artwork in comic books, I was looking forward to it and it satisfied me. The artwork is fantastic even though it suffers from over rendering. The dialogue is awful in some places (the Mexican bandits still make me cringe) but I enjoyed seeing a young Bruce Wayne with all of his inexperience. Look forward to issue 2 and I hope more of you guys check it out.

Yeah I saw the preview on another comic book forums and sad to say I'm probably dropping this. I mean the dialogue is atrocious. I had high hopes for this books, still had some left after the first issue. But this second issue seems to be worse than the first. Oh well.

I really can't get into this series.
I don't even know if they are going to finish it. The latest issue I have is #6 and as far as I know, #7 never came out. There is no broadcast of when it will come out on the DC Universe website, either. Go figure.

^ Yeah, the first four issues where enough for me.
The art is incredible, but it just didn't make up for the terrible dialog and story. I won't say this is as bad as "All-Star Batman and Robin" or "Batman: Fortunate Son," but there pretty awful and I won't recommend them.

So they continued the story from #6 with a new #1 in a seven-issue series. It is pretty good now.
