I don't really know if Batman's fans are interested but, once in a while (as regularly as possible), I will post a "did you know ?" about Batman.
See you really, really soon

In the movie Batman the Dark Knight (2008), Bruce Wayne drives a Lamborghini MurciƩlago because MurciƩlago means "Bat" in Spanish

Did you know that Bob Kane and Sheldon Maldoff created Batwoman in 1956 to avoid censorship ? In 1954, the psychologist Fredric Wertham criticized Batman comics for their supposed homosexual overtones (Seduction of the Innocent). This critic against our hero led to the establishment of the Comics Code Authority. Batwoman was introduced in part to refute the allegation that Batman and Robin were gay.

Did you know that Gotham City was not part of Batman's universe in the first comics ? From May 1939 to December 1940, Batman was in fact New York's crime fighter. However, one must not forget Gotham City (meaning the place where goats are kept - Goat Home) is really one of New York's nicknames.

Did you know that the name Bruce Wayne had been coined out of real historical heroes' names ? Robert the Bruce was a glorious Scottish King at the beginning of the 14th century and "Mad" Anthony Wayne an American general during the American Revolutionary War

Did you know that Bruce Wayne's parents' killer is not unknown ? Actually, they were killed by Chill Joe in 1924. According to Batman 47 (June-July 1948), he is killed by vengeful hoodlums furious that the guy is the reason why Batman exists.

Did you know that Vicky Vale employer in "Batman", directed by Tim Burton in 1989, had been carefully chosen ? Vicky Vale, in this movie, is a journalist working for the magazine Time while the movie is actually produced by the Warner... Guess what ? In 1989, the merger of Time Inc. and Warner was announced in March.

Did you know that, during two years, Barman's most terrible foe had been Alfred Pennyworth ? Physically and mentally transformed by a "regeneration machine" (Alfred had previously been killed while saving our hero and was accidentally resurrected afterward), he became the Outsider and tried to kill the Dynamic Duo from December 1964 to October 1966. A second use of the machine restored Alfred to his true self.

Sorry to have troubled you with nightmares in the middle of the night but the answer is definitely yes ... By the way, Annette Benning was supposed to play Catwoman but she became pregnant and had to withdraw from this project.. My information may seem sometimes incredible but they are all true ... Let's hope noone will have an (or a ? I never know) heart attack next time...

Did you know that among the two only permanent members of the American punk rock band The Cramps (1978-2009), one had for name Poison Ivy? The lead guitarist's real name being, in fact, Kristy Marlana Wallace.

Did you know (or realize) that two of Alfred Pennyworth's related names are also villains names? Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth bears the name of the Scarecrow (Jonathan Crane). Where is the second one? You must not forget that, when Wayne's butler appeared (Batman 16 in 1943), he said his father's name was Jarvis, the same as the Mad Hatter's (Jarvis Tetch). This ambiguous names relation is unique.

Did you know (let's move to more important matters) that The Dark Knight Returns collected edition (Franck Miller, hardcover, 1987) was, like any other traditional book, the first comic book on permanent sale in bookshops?

Did you know (I hope the following is grammatically correct and makes sense) that it is a Batman comic that holds DC's best sale rate record : only 10 % unsold (on the opposite, the worst DC's sale rate is hold by Jemm, Son of Saturn with 91 % unsold)

Did you known that Batman's challenger, in term of DC comics sales, in the late 1950's was not a superhero? In 1958, Lois Lane became so popular that the character had her own comic series, Superman's Girlfriend, Lois Lane. DC sold, at the time, more copies of this comic than Batman and ended this series in 1974.

After a few months of silence, studying in secret libraries to find new incredible information on our hero, I am back. Speaking about Batman Live, did you know that the Batmobile (in which two persons can seat) was created by the McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray?
