[shadow=purple,left,300]Anybody interested in direct updates from Warner Bros. on BATMAN BEGINS can also sign up at www.batmanbegins.com
Also at the link, be sure to check out the previous trailers, such as the SuperBowl spot and the first teasers.
The purpose of this thread is to update you on the progress of this film, any help is greatly appreciated, and you all seem to be donating to the board greatly. Thank you very much. -J-MAN[/shadow][glow=blue,2,300]Here's some updates... Batman Begins Footage Shown at Wonder-Con Credit at SHHFebruary 19, 2005 "Scooper 'L' reports in from Wonder-Con where Warner Bros. showed new Batman Begins footage. SPOILERS AHEAD: Just got home from Wondercon in San Francisco. Maybe you can use this, let me know. Christian Bale was there, along with 6 minutes of completed footage from Batman Begins. The highlights: -Bruce urging his parents to leave the opera house early, thus meaning he blames himself for the unknown mugger waiting outside to shoot them. - Bruce meeting with mob boss Carmine Falcone, who tells Bruce that he is "the prince of Gotham. " and that he'd have to go a thousand miles to find someone who didn't know his name..and so that's what Bruce does. - Ra' Al Ghul saying Gotham must be destroyed. And then shots of Wayne Manor on fire. -the final, and BEST footage- The Scarecrow and Batman face to face in a dark hallway. The Scarecrow sprays some liquid on Batman, and then holds up a lighter ( the Superbowl shot) before lighting Batman on fire and then kicking him out the window to a huge fall before. The best is when the Scarecrow asks in a concerned/creepy voice "Oh, are you having trouble?" Amazing stuff." END SPOILERSMoving on..... NEW TRAILER IN A MONTH ? Credit: BoF Sunday, February 20:" I got an an email in today from a solid source regarding when we might see the next BATMAN BEGINS trailer. He tells us that it could be coming in March to capitalize on the "Spring Break" crowd. Possible movies it may be attached to include HOUSE OF WAX, MISS CONGENIALITY 2, and A SOUND OF THUNDER. It is almost surely to be attached to various non-Warner Bros. movies as well. This same source says that the spot that aired during the Super Bowl, may get another run during the Oscars. "But I wouldn't hold my breath" our source says about an Oscar spot. A 30-second commercial during the show is going for $1.6 million...."[/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300] Ricci Wants a Batman Begins Sequel Role
Credit: SHH In an interview with the Central Westchester newspaper, for "Cursed", Christina Ricci says - following a long plug for her guest appearance on "Joey" and how it was a dream come true, blah, blah - that she would love to be involved in, the next BATMAN film. "I heard they want to bring Catwoman into the next one. I so loved Michelle Pfeiffer's performance in the original one, and I think if they want someone to play the lead role - it's her. However, if they're looking for a younger Catwoman, someone more around Christian's (Bale) age - I'm available!", she gushes. "It would be great. That suit, the whip....wow. I will definitely have to get my agent onto that one". Ricci later slammed reports that there's going to be a sequel to "Cursed". "It's a one-off. Wes never intended to do a series of Cursed movies like he did the Scream movies". Seems like it would be a little early for her to know what characters will appear in the follow-up. 'Captain Villa' also wrote: On BBC Radio WM just, they interviewed "RHINO" from the UK version of Gladiators. He said that now Gladiators is over, he is an actor. He went on to reveal that he is to star in BATMAN BEGINS as a bodygaurd to Liam Neesons character.[/glow] [glow=blue,2,300]Based on the fact that I've only seen her in Casper, all I can say is: RIIIIIIIIIIGGHT. [shadow=red,left,300]I might be in the minority on this one, but I think if WB does any sequels to Begins, Catwoman should be left out of them. At least for awhile. After that debacle with Halle Berry it would be wise to keep Catwoman out, that way Halle Berry's version isn't fresh on everyone's mind. [/shadow]

I'd like to see Catwoman in a Batman movie eventually though.

Thanks to SHH: superherohype.com/news/batmannews.php?id=2661[/glow]I'll just post the begins part. Rutger Hauer on Batman Begins & Sin City Source: Marilyn Beck and Stacey Jenel Smith March 1, 2005
Dutch actor Rutger Hauer talked to columnists Marilyn Beck and Stacey Jenel Smith about his starring roles in both Batman Begins and Sin City.
When Batman Begins is unveiled in June, moviegoers will see that director Christopher Nolan "has totally reinvented the Batman story. This is more human. It's more character-driven. It's closer to the skin. That doesn't mean it's not a big fiction story with quite a bit of effects going on."
Hauer plays CEO of Wayne Enterprises in the film. Hauer says his character is one of a string of people encountered by Bale whose relationships help form the Dark Knight he is to become. Heres the link to the rest of it: superherohype.com/news/sincitynews.php?id=2662

I'm sure I'll be watching this movie several times in the theater. An Imax theater should be in Tulsa or Dalllas?Ft Worth area. Either way it's 3 hours away. The most I've ever seen a movie in the theater was three times: The Fifth Element. Of course I think my wife dragged me to see I Still Know What You Did Last Summer about 6-7 times, but that's a different story. Boring![/shadow]

[glow=red,2,300]Here's a Begins merchandise update thanks to BOF. Batman will soon be coming to a clothing rack near you. Warner Bros. Consumer Products and its licensees, Raw-7, Rocawear and Junk Food this week are unveiling the newest clothing line featuring designs inspired by the Caped Crusader at the MAGIC Marketplace show in Las Vegas. Attendees can catch a glimpse of the fall 2005 collection highlighting new fashions based on the summer 2005 release of Batman Begins, but with a twist. The new line also carries the classic Batman inspired by the DC Comics comic books. As part of the new line, Raw-7 will feature Batman-inspired cashmere sweaters, knitwear and fashion tops featuring graphics and designs of the character. Rocawear Clothing is adding itself to the mix with a new line of trendy young men's and boys clothing. The venture marks the manufacturer's first collaboration with the Batman line. The product line will hit stores with the film's release this summer. Apparel maker Junk Food will add to the product line with muscle and retro tees affixed with the vintage Batman character art. Other collections featuring Batman will include extensions of the previous apparel lines including T-shirts, fashion tops, headwear, loungewear and boxers from licensees Briefly Stated, C-Life and Giant Merchandising. In addition to Batman, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and its licensees will present a variety of other properties at the MAGIC Marketplace, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter, Superman, Supergirl, Teen Titans, Scooby-Doo, Codename: Kids Next Door, Adult Swim, Goonies, Looney Tunes and Gremlins. The show runs through Feb. 17. Here's a pic: [/glow] This also comes from BOF. If you are going to Panama City Beach, Florida for spring break, you might be able to get a Begins cellphone. Here's what promomagazine. com had to say, " To promote the upcoming release of Batman Begins, Verizon Wireless will hand out 30 Batman cell phones through exclusive partnerships with local hotels. The cell phones will include free airtime. Verizon Wireless is the title sponsor of SB05. "promomagazine.com/news/springbreak_mkters_030205/index.html

[glow=blue,2,300]No prob Robin...
Here's a from an article in USA Today.
"USA Today is highlighting five of the biggest films this year and has included Batman Begins. Here's a clip:
Banished are Bat nipples, hammy villains and a comic-book hero adrift in his own adventures. Nolan ignores the four predecessors that began with 1989's Batman to expose his avenger's dark roots. "To tackle an icon who has never been explained before is a tremendous opportunity," says the British director, who watched the campy '60s TV series as a kid. "It's a mythic story that draws upon Hamlet and The Count of MonteCristo."
How does Nolan hope to compete with the state-of-the-art feats in the Spider-Man films? "The strength of Batman is his reality," he explains. "He's a guy without superpowers. Bruce Wayne uses detection, psychology and martial arts. Any one of us can be him."

[shadow=green,left,300]I wonder if our imax will get begins reideen?![/shadow] I seriously doubt it. Even though it has the word "bat" in the title, if it's not about animals or wildlife in some way, we don't get to see it.

I really hope that we get a midnight showing for Begins, the Star Theater had one for Spider-Man 2 I know they are doing one for Star Wars III

[glow=red,2,300]Thanks to BOF for this update. "BATMAN BEGINS soon to be complete? Author: Jett Saturday, March 12, 7:25 AM: We were informed a more than one BOF source that the final cut of the final should be completed soon and that all post-production should be finished in late April or early May. At that time, prints for theaters will start being made.... We also recieved word on The Scarecrow of which we can't be too specific right now. But as BOF has told you for a while now, this "Stage One" Scarecrow that we've seen a lot of recently, is nothing. The F/X shots of the "Stage Two" Scarecrow - which will show how a gassed victim sees Crane - are going to be "creepy as hell" as our source tells us. It seems that the mask will look like it is "alive" via the POV of the victims.... The Scarecrow is not the only character in BATMAN BEGINS that will be seen through the eyes of a gassed individual - as BOF told you a good while ago. And that's going to be worth seeing as well - trust me...." www.batman-on-film.com/b5news.html[/glow]I sure can't wait to see the stage 2 Scarecrow.

It seems that the Batman Begins score will have two composers. One is Hans Zimmer and the other is James Newton Howard. The talk is that one will compose the music for the flashback scenes while the other will provide the music for the current time scenes. This is not typical, but because both composers are seasoned professionals with great track records, it should bode well for the movie. www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/rage/index1.htm
