Ugggggghhhhhh! That is a terrible Joker! I hope that's not really how he is going to look! come on man1 have faith. The scarecrow looked almost nothing like his dc counterpart and was still awesome. and Jackups a leather outfit would definitely fit this dark villain [glow=red,2,300] Hey Man I dont mind for updating looks, but leather for the Joker doesnt really fit fot the character even if ti is a new take, I agree that we will see him in a rag/tux cozy's, wit hhim mmost likely appearing in a full purple suit near the climax of the film, I mean even Nolan and the costume designers wont miss the ppurple suit. I dont mind updates I just feel that the Joker wont wear leather, just lkike two face will probs wear a suit,[/glow]

Judging from some of the on-set photos, this Joker will probably remain in a suit of some sort. Nolan is definitely making this Batman as real as possible, and it doesn't seem likely that the Joker would be running around in leather or tattered clothes (ala the Joker from the first season of The Batman). After letting it digest for a few days, I've really come to like his look for the film. While we don't know if this is his final look, I think that even those of us who dislike it should remain optimistic of what Nolan's trying to accomplish. He did wonders with Batman Begins, and I have a feeling he's going to give us the demented, sick, twisted, etc. version of the character we all know and love. Even if this is his "final" look, it will look so much better on film, and with a grin across Ledger's face. Ya, it helps thinking like that. I'm not too happy with the deisgn otherwise. But, I'll have to wait till the movie comes out. btw, welcome back J-Man I never really left, I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to.

Well personally Im torn and confused as is with the design right now. Of course I'm still not sold on the casting either. However; I am pleased with what I perceive to be their intent and direction with the Joker... that being making him into an actually "scary" character and a genuine threat to Batman. Instead of just a "clown". Us fanatic fans know he is more than that, but I imagine most folks dont. IMO no past popular or known incarnation of the Joker (Nicholson / Romero) has ever been anything intimidating, threatening, or someone to be afraid of. Heck, even in the comics he's hard to take seriously half the time. He's a unique and fun villain. He's open to much interpretation which is how and why over the years we fans have transormed him through our imagination into a true madman. We've had decades to make him into something "more"... Nolan and Co. really only have two hours.

He did kill Robin, although the fans may have had a lot to do with that. We've had twenty years to process what the Joker did to Barbara and Gordon in The Killing Joke - the scenes with Gordon remain as some of the most disturbing sequences ever presented in a comic book. We had Nicholson's Joker pouring acid on his girlfriend's face and electrocuting a rival in 1989. Recent comic stories from the 90s portrayed him as a mass murderer AND a cop killer (remember Sarah Essen?). Sounds like an insane, psychotic killer to me. I'll give you the Romero point, though.

I was thinking. This version of the Joker in a tux or dark-blackish purple suit would be really scary. I mean from his toe up to his neck you have this nice clean looking suit and BAM you see this demented disfigured face. I think that'd be scary. Then again it'd end up being like scarecrow =P

I'm wondering if this version of Joker will be vain. It has been the trend for Joker to be vain for quite a few years now. The way this one looks, I am not so sure they are going in that direction. It will be interesting to see how he turns out.

I have never been overly convinced by Ledger's casting and am not bowled over by the image/look either. Very disappointed.

It will be interesting to see how he turns out. That's an interesting point, especially since Nolan has already told fans to look at the Joker's very first stories in Batman #1 for an insight into how he will be portrayed in TDK. I did so recently, and there really weren't any specific examples of the Joker expressing vain notions about his appearance. There were many instances where he mentions that he is far superior in intelligence to his victims, cops, other criminals and even Batman and Robin. I think that form of vanity may play a part in his characterization in the film. I could see the Joker driven to extremes to prove, in his own mind and to the world, that his intelligence is superior to Batman and others opposing him.

The first was just a photoshopped picof Conrad Vieght from The Man who Laughs, 2nd, from Dead End, & I hated the 3rd, it looked terrible. If you go back & look at the first issue of Batman, Nolan's Joker works perfectly.

I think Joker looks really cool. I think the make up is supposed to look messy, Joker put it on and Jokers insane. They don't want to redo Jack Nicholson. They want to reinvent the character. I say thumbs up!

The henchmen photo looks pretty cool, and I am still up in the air with what I think about the Joker's Look. I trust Nolan & Co. so I am going to hold off on my opinion until I see the finished Joker. I hope that we see some sort of dark purple suit though...
