We all want a sequel, but why not a continuation? A sequel is basically a second story taking place after much time since the story in the first movie. But a continuation picks up where the previous film left off.
The Back to the Future trilogy, The Godfather (1-2 mostly I believe), and the first two Superman movies are all examples of this.
So if BB2 is a continuation, the second story would cut from the lasy shot of Batman gliding at the end of BB. From that: Wayne Manor would be in the rebuilding process so Wayne would live in a penthouse, a reference to the O'Neil/Adams era. And since Batman would have already gotten the Joker card, the detective skills would kick in and be use for the film on the Joker.
Thoughts?

Not a bad idea at all blinker , I think I would prefer this than a sequel it would give a great feel and make the storys times better instead of one year later sort of thing!!!! !

That makes good sense but there would be no Batcave. I am really looking forward to seeing the new Cave but it would need to be in the future for it to be ready.

I'm with JAsby, i want it in the future because i want Waynes mansion rebuilt and the new cave. Although it would be nice if they explained how it was built. I remeber in one of the books it explained how he built such a huge cave, He went to a distant country and hired tons of workers made them where blindfolds and payed them a very generous pay.

I agree with Jabsy's point. I think sequels would work much better with the timing. He would have a new mansion, an updated batcave, and from that point on trying to catch Joker. There's one thing on my mind though, if Joker is already created, in what way will Nolan tell us of his origin? Flashblacks are always common...but I wonder since Nolan himself wasnt necessarily expecting to create a sequel until after finishing BB.

I would like it somewhere inbetween. Not too far in the future (no more than a year), but not the next day either. As said before, I want to see the new mansion/batcave, but seriously, Batman can't wait too long with a new villain on the loose.

yeah it makes sense for it to follow (days after the end of Begins) but then where would all his gadgets be? unless the cave survived, and only the house got destroyed?
so he could live somewhere else, but strill use the cave to "be" batman.
and a longer period of time (say a year) would be too long, because that means Joker has been left alone for a year, and surely Bruce/Batman wouldn't sit back and let him rampage for that length of time.
it's gonna be tricky, but i trust Nolan and Co to figure something out, but yeah, I support the continuation theme. i'd like all 3 movies to be 1 long movie in a sense, with some references about events in the previous movies being made to properly tie them together.

Id prefer a gap. the Joker is only starting out-let his infamy, his skills, his madness build.also its gives you time to allow the maor/cave thing to grow etc etc

And for Bruce to develop his detective skills.

but he already say he'd "look into it" at the end of Begins, so he can hardly wait any longer considering Joker has already killed 2 people. it'd look irresponsible of Batman to not try to find him straight away just because he wanted to get more skilled and build his cave better before going after Joker.

That's a dilemma in plotting and timing that the crew will have to work out during the writing, MuksC
