In the new movie series? To me it seemed like the last movies went downhill when Robin and then Batgirl joined the crew.
Also who will be the villian in the sequel? Joker?

(Possibly Spoilers)
Well Barbara may or may not be in the movie. There's a scene in the first draft of the script where Gordon is feeding his baby but they don't say the baby's name or it's gender so who knows if it's Barbara or not. I seriously doubt that Robin or Batgirl will show up in the film. I actually think that Robin should be in the films. What I liked about his role in Batman Forever was that he was basically a window into Bruce Wayne's personality. In the previous ones, it was really more about the villains. From what I've heard though, I don't think Goyer or Christian Bale like the idea of Robin so they'll probably not want to put him in this new franchise.

[shadow=purple,left,300]I don't want any sidekicks to appear in the new Batman movies. I wouldn't mind seeing Barbara Gordon appear as a teenager or what have you, but not as Batgirl. Plus, they'd have a hard time selling Robin and Batgirl to an audience who saw them ruin the last Batman film franchise.[/shadow]

Robin is a very vital and important figure in Batman's history/life. But in the movies for some reason he doesn't seem to work. But I think I may have a solution, just treat him as a side character, give him a cameo here and there throughout the movie, don't focus or feature him, and make him a kid (13-16 year old actor) not a 20 something actor! If done this way he could work.
Forget Batgirl I am not a fan of hers never have been and never will! I was very excited when she was taken care of in The Killing Joke, but with everything they find a way to bring the character back.

If they put robin in the movies it would be a challenge. I don't think they'll do it in the next one if they do at all, but if they do, probably in #3(if there's a #3)If you do Robin wrong he'll come out like he did in batman forever. They'd have to make him very dark also screw batgirl, shes gotta stay on the pages.

Nolan is going for realism in these new films. Pretty much everything that was changed from the comic version was to make it appear more believable. A twelve-year-old running around in red and green with batman isnt believable. What works in the comics/cartoons does not work on on the big screen, if you want a credible Batman.

Yes, this is a realistic Batman. Let's remember, there were several issues and arguments involving Batman's early character and this is the only reason Robin was introduced. Robin IMO is the COMPLETE opposite of Batman's dark and ruthless character. What would be interesting however, perhaps Nightwing....

I seriously doubt we'll see either appear within this newly designed franchise. From everything we've seen, (for better or worse) such characters do not fit in with the vision of the powers that be. I personally would have no problem with Robin eventually getting his chance and would love to see he and countless other aspects of Batman's mythos done "right". IMO Robin deserves it and should eventually be considered, but Batgirl is another story IMO. This series is clearly not designed to incorporate any real fantasy or mystical element(s) beyond what can be scientifically explained... even if those explinations are slightly "stretched". Henceforth I wouldnt ever expect to see any super powered villains. Only those with a "realistic" angle like Penguin, Joker, Two-Face and perhaps Bane? (no Clayface Etc.) . I think Robin could be effectively pulled off but I wouldnt expect it.

I agree. I always cringe when the Demon or Deadman show up in a Batman story. As much as I love Clayface, there is no way to fit him into the world of this version of Batman.

I agree-No supernatural villians/heroes or sidekicks.just plain old honest to goodness psychos please ;D for me the ONLY option IMO for the following movies is Joker Two face Riddler-super intelligent nerd obsessed with him and out to find the secret. Penguin-Crime Lord Bane-Super Mob Enforcer brought in to tame the Bat have him as a kind of legend in the world of mercenaries

I kind of think it would be cool to see the sidekicks-as long as they were done right. This is one area where I feel like even the animated series didnt get it all the way right.Imagine seeing Batgirl or Robin introduced the way Carrie Kelly was in TDKR.Theres something kind of disturbing in the Batman and Robin relationship and I think it would be interesting to see it explored in a realistic way....but it would have to be handled VERY carefully to avoid it turning into a disaster and drudging up all those bad memories of "Seduction of The Innocents"

batman works better alone IMO and this movies are the beginning of batman, i think a robin would be a bad idea we need batman alone for some time to develop his motives and characteristics first same for batgirl......maybe she can appearance like a girl who try to be like batman, but not like a member of the bat family

If Robin shows up it will be after Batman 2 and 3. Bale and others don't want Robin.I like Robin, but on thing always gets me: Child endangerment. Having a boy fight along Batman against crimbosses and psychos just doesn't fit, especially in Nolan's "Realism" world. As far as Robin and Batgirl not working, is not because of them, it was the studio who wanted a "lighter Batman". To me if Robin- incorporate all elements of Robin (Grayson, Todd, Drake) into one. acrobatic (Grayson) Intelligent and detective (Drake), a street kid (Todd). Robin should be 15-17 and not in his twenties. Robin's Reckoning from BTAS is agood start. Focus on the father/son relationship with Bruce and Robin. As far as which name to use either Grayson or Drake. GRayson since he is the more recognizable one, but whether they want to use Grayson's nickname is another. Either Richard or Rich Grayson.not the old costume. but the BTAS Drake costume (black and red) and a more of a mask than the domino one. As far as Batgirl, Barbara Gordon is more recognizable, but Cassandra Cain is the best version to me. But I would not expect to see them after Batman 3 if then.

I like many BATMAN BEGINS not who in the sequel, I believe(create) that ROBIN probably meets in the BATMAN 3 and BATGIRL BABS GORDON in the BATMAN 4 but ... difficultly that the fans do not relate it to other bad movies. Of all forms I believe that if THE ARGUMENT IS MORE REALISTIC AND SUCCESSFUL GOOD CAN BE A SUCCESS

I think these films can do completely without either robin or batgirl. This re-launch, as it were, needs to stay away from camp completely..and I think these two characters will just add that air of sillyness that we don't need in film these days.

Robin was brought into the Batman comic to Lighten it up. I dont think the movies should be lightened up.
