I like the way you think BatmAngelus. Riddler was more like Joker in Forever. And I like your suit idea. Black suit with green question marks- GENIUS!

^ And now it is!! Bwahahahahahaha! Awesome. What does everyone else think of bringing back The Riddler? I'd also like a Mr. Freeze story akin to the BTAS episode "Heart of Ice." Maybe extend it out to an entire movie and make changes here and there so that the film can creatively stand on its own. With a better script (a.k.a. with a lot less ice related puns), Arnold could've been alright. What kind of suit would you guys want to see Mr. Freeze in? I think that something a little less bulky is in store, but obviously he won't be wearing regular clothes because he needs the suit to give himself living temperatures. Maybe something similar to what an astronaut wears? I don't know. I'm not a fan of the fishbowl helmet. I think "The Batman" Mr. Freeze's iceberg helmet is cooler. It looks cooler and he's not as easy to take out when you break it. For a new, serious take on Freeze, I think that Peter Weller (RoboCop) is perfect. They are similar characters- emotionles on the outside, but tortured on the inside. Playing this character would be sooo easy for him.

I could see that guy be Freeze. And I'd like to see him have a THE BATMAN look as well. But what should his motive be? Should he be a diamond thief or trying to cure his wife? I go with diamond thief. He'd be more of a villain than a guy who's good but does bad things.

Well, I'm a fan of the scientist origin from BTAS. I know that it was used before in Batman & Robin, but I think it could obviously be done better than that movie.
My problem with the diamond thief origin is that it just seemed too convenient and implausible. There was so much coincidental stuff involved. Victor Fries just happens to run into a cryogenic freezing place and he just happens to land into an open pod and get electrocuted at the same time. I didn't really like that.
Although I think it would be a cool "You made me" type of conflict like with The Joker- who won't be claiming that since I think that the Joker card implies that his origin took place before Batman first appeared in Batman Begins.
Either way, there should definitely be an origin.
The Riddler, on the other hand, doesn't need one. His own selfishness and obsession with puzzles should be enough to motivate him to crime. I didn't think that the BTAS origin was all that special. I'd rather see the "I want revenge on the men who cheated me" origin with Mr. Freeze and Cluemaster. The Batman Forever origin had too many Mad Hatter overtones, especially when compared with his origin in BTAS- nerdy Wayne Enterprises worker who goes off the deep end after being rejected and ends up using his experiment to get what he wants.

An interesting choice...I loved the first two Robocop movies (especially the fact that, in the future, Detroit still seems like a city-wide ghetto...I used to live outside of Detroit, and it kind of sucked...), and Peter Weller does sound like a great person to turn to for the role...

I wouldn't go with something that was too bulky either...Think about it; when he starts off, he won't have much in terms of supplies (even if/ after he robs banks/ whatnot...) and, he'll be like Bruce Wayne before he found his calling and purpose; lost, with no direction of where to go...I would like/ expect something that is simplistic at first, (like the B:TAS, but, not exactly) and, as time goes on, it becomes more miniaturized and utilitarian (kind of like Batman)...
I look at the "fishbowl helmet" this way; it can/ could be interpreted as the glass dome to a snow-globe...For Mr. Freeze, life, warmth, and happiness are almost completely out of his reach, due to (IMO it should be like this) an accident that left him utterly dependent upon sub-zero temperatures to survive; he needs a perpetual winter in order to stay alive, and, after adding the glass "fishbowl" dome, he becomes a sort of "living snow globe"...Instead of looking at the globe and the ice within while being warm and happy on the outside, he views life from his frozen, solitary position within the snow-globe itself, secretly punishing himself for not having that feeling for himself...I hope that that made any sense to you are anyone else reading...

That's basically how I would write him as well, with some possible connections to one of my favorite annuals to ever come out...It was a Detective Comics annual from 1995 (to coincide with the release of Batman Forever) in which the Riddler explains to the Arkham doctors (who we later find out weren't even there, adding depth to Riddler's statements) that he basically was a nobody growing up, and was going nowhere...Until he found his calling in life; cheating...He also craves a good challenge, which is something that I enjoyed about him from B:TAS, as he was constantly seeking attention from Batman to make up for the lack of attention he recieved as a child...

^ Cool.
I'd have to see it in live action or so to convince me. I'm not a fan of it because I don't think it looks great visually, even though it can make sense symbolically.
Black Mask, what do you think of my Riddler idea (see bottom of page 2).

^ Cool. That's always the "clincher"...I would hate to see a great concept ruined (like the concept of the Gungans from Star Wars, before the voice-overs ruined them in The Phantom Menace) by poor craftsmanship (which is nothing against the amazing people behind the scenes who are the real magic-makers of film )...The only reason why I would/ I do like it is because of the symbolic nature behind it, and the only way that the audience would understand that is if, basically, Nolan was in the audience during the screening and explained it to them...I think it's sounds great...In fact, the Riddler stuff that I posted was based-in-part from your reaction/ writings of the character...I found that it was extremely useful in boiling-down the character to his core, in order for me to post my insights...

LOL I WAS JUST ABOUT TO PUT THAT! ;D (I read everything after this/ before this, but, somehow managed to not read this part...)
Also, I wanted the studio [WB] to do a sort of tribute to the comic's green suit with black question marks on it by using it somehow in the movie...For example, having a "smoking jacket" of that for when he's in a den/ personal library while talking to Batman...

Hey i think that the actor - Hugh Laurie looks like a good Riddler but i dont think he could be a good Riddler its not his type of role! I think he could be a great Riddler. Keep his Dr. House American voice and arrogant "I'm smarter than you" attitude. Increase the creepy factor and throw in a bit of his hyper side from other comedies for any scene in which Riddler goes Frank Gorshin hyper.

I can/ could imagine that...Though, IMO, in order to get the maximum effect of the series, it might have to be two movies, which can also allow for the introduction of new characters to the movies, like the Mad Hatter...This is just speculation on my part...

I thought that it looks like a great concept...IMO, we [the fans]/ the studio should concentrate on making the character fun, appealing, and obsessed while making his puzzles the outlandish part of him...Not another round of Gorshin (May he rest in peace...)/ Carrey...

Two-Face definatley. In BF he wasn't greusome. but with Goyer & Nolan, he would be psycotic, guesome, & at the same time have sympathy fro the character. I would have voted The Joker. but he's already planned, but then again so is Harvey.
