Bought the Anthology today, have to say, I'm pretty happy with it so far. I watched most of the special features of Batman. There's some great interviews in there with Jack. I began to watch the features of Batman Returns. There is a made for TV documentary called "The Bat, The Cat, and The Penguin." I haven't seen that since I was 7 when it was originally aired. Good nostalgia with seeing it on the DVD. So far, I'm really enjoying the S.E.'s.

Could someone tell me if Forever is a director's cut, with all or most of the original scenes in their proper order(much different from the theatrical release), or does it just have some missing scenes, inserted into the theatrical version(or worse, not in the actual film at all)? Also, I'd like to know how good the DVD is, and how it compares to previous releases. I'll only buy it if it's great.

Well Hush, from all the reviews and descriptions Ive read, the Forever disk is nothing more than the original theatre release with some select deleted scenes included in the special features? this is a particular dissapointment to most fans whove been clammoring for a "director's cut". On the bright side, the Forever special edition appears to have the most such features / deleted scenes Etc.

Going through the Batman SE features now and so far a little disappointed that Keaton didn't come in to do any interviews. Jack Nicholson's stuff is great. Overall it is pretty good so far. BTW, there is a scene where it looks like Batman rescues a little girl and she asks "is it Halloween?" or something like that, what part of the movie is that from and is it included in the SE movie?

(vVv) [shadow=red,left,300]That scene takes place when Batman and Vicki are running through the alley from Joker's goons. As for it being included in the Batman S.E., I'm not too sure as I haven't bought it yet, but from everything I've read concerning the features, it's not.[/shadow]

I don't know if you're familiar with Batman-On-Film, run by a guy called 'Jett', (he's generally creditted as being a major influence on getting Begins made, as he started his site and campaigning after the awful B & R was released) but his site is great and always has Batman movie news, and he did some reviews of the 4 SE versions: www.batman-on-film.com/batmovienews.htmltaken from his review of Batman '89: "The one and only extra scene that was included finds Batman rescuing a small girl who says, "Is it Halloween?" to a smiling Batman." and Val Kilmer was the only person to make a new interview especially for the SE versions, all the other interviews are all 'original' material from when each film was originally released.

Aren't Nicholosons interviews new too? But yeah, I'm a little disappointed that Keaton and Clooney (especially Keaton) didn't come back for a few interviews... "what do you mean about the 9 second cut? there is only 9 seconds, or there is no commentary for 9 seconds?"
Well R2 Returns has no commentary at the moment due to it being cut by 9 seconds - the scene were Catwoman puts the cans into the microwave - so the commentary would be not in line with the correct scene!!
Also Forever is still cut and i have not heard yet whats happening with that! I have only heard this but my copy will be with me in the next day or two!!
I mite just go and buy the Anthology - crap covers but they are uncut!! - but dont know!!
Also on another site a guy says he will wait for the 3 disc set coming out at christmas!!??!!

A director's cut would've been a huge hit, I'm sure, and as I thought it would be, it was the SE DVD I was most excited about. Now I'll just get Batman '89 and Returns when I get a chance.

@ SRA, thanks for explaining, I didn't know about 9 seconds missing from the Region 2 version.
I've seen all 4 SE version in shops now, the covers are cool, but I really would prefer a boxset of them if there is one in the pipeline for Region 2.

I have found out from WB that at this point in time they will not be releasing a Batman boxset in R2 other than the old one with the 1 disc editions!! So you might as well import the R1 or go for the R2!! SRA
