There has been nothing new stocked in my area for 3 weeks now! Dwindling stock and empty pegs. Everything started out so strong too.

Hi everybody, I've recently regained my interest in collecting Batman action figures, and you all seem very knowledgeable. I want to find the best new collectibles to refresh my collection. What's hot right now? If there is a better place for me to ask these questions and learn more, just let me know. First off, welcome to LoG. As far as "hot", at the moment I'd have to say the Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters. Mattel has also just started theri Power Attack line of figures that is aimed more for kids. Some collectors are still picking these up, including myself, because they do feature some cool designs for the charaters. DCD is also ready to put out wave 3 of their Arkham City/Asylum line. Other than that, there's really nothing out as far as Batman lines go. Unless you want to consider the Imaginext line.

That's a cool little display. Our area Target had a ton of these on an end display.
I went ahead and picked up that new Two Face figure. That line is growing on me.

Wll, as Ive stated, I dont collect much anymore but I still browse. While at TRUs today I was looking at the Imagnext stuff. They have their "exclusive" line called Gotham City Collection. They had a Batman w/cyce and Catwoman w/cycle 2 pack. A single Two Face with a small plane. And a Gotham Swat armored car with GCPD Officer and BANE! So theres 2 ways you can get the Bane fig. There was also a Gotham City set that came with a Joker and Bruce Wayne!

80% of my collection is gone. A purging fire was necessary and it was very liberating. I regret none of it. There comes a time when a collector needs his/her out. I reached a point where I really had nowhere else to go. I pretty much amassed what it was I wanted and I wasnt really into the newer stuff that was coming out, not that there was alot anyway. I started not appreciating or enjoying the collection anymore. Thats when I knew it was time. Over the last 3 years I have sold to other collectors, toy dealers, and through ebay. I now have my collection where I want it and with what means the most to me. It also allowed me to get back to other things that I enjoyed. Not everything is displayed, but Imay try and get some pics up.

I think this is one of the coolest lines Mattel has done. I'm glad to see that they took an initiative to create an original lnie like this. Reminds me of the ol Kenner/Hasbro days.
Even though Im not collecting these, Im dying to see that M. Feeze in person.

LOL Yessir, it is me. I've not been active, but have always kept up.
I did a quick run to TRUs and Target a bit ago. TRUs was restocked with Batman and Bane. They also got in that Hot Wheels 89 3 pack.: I wanted to grab that ( I still love me 89!!) but money was not allowing today.
Target still had empty pegs.

Most of the people Ive been chatting with have been finding their Catwomen at Barnes & Noble of all places. Seems that there are big shippers being sent out to various stores like that. I haven been able to locate a single Catwoman in my area or a Gordon. Not realy interested in the Gordon though as I havethe older one. Oh, yeah, I ave been buying the new Movie Masters. LOL

I hate what Nolan has done and cant wait to see a return to the more comic book based elements. Realism is the worst thing that ever happened. Really? The worst thing? Before I respond to that let me say that I'm not a Nolan-worshipper. In fact, I'm looking forward to what the next director does with the franchise. I very much enjoy Nolan's two Bat-films and expect to enjoy TDKR, but I also think both films have major flaws. In general, there's something too clinical and emotionless about Nolan's films. More specifically, here's what I think he messed up in the Bat-films: His implementation of Scarecrow was pretty bad; He can't film an exciting hand-to-hand combat scene to save his life. TDK was way too long because he tried to shoehorn in way too much stuff. That film, while it definitely has some cool stuff, is basically one scene rushing on to the next for 2 1/2 hours. So, like I said, I'm no Nolan-worshipper. That being said, his films are the best Bat-films to date IMO and the element of realism is exactly what the franchise needed after it had become a fat, bloated, multi-million-dollar version of the 60's TV show. Nolan's take is the worst thing ever? Seriously? I have three words for you: BATMAN & ROBIN. I can watch Batman&Robin any day of the week over Begins. Nolans take is the worst thing? Yes, to me, IMO, yes it is.

Hey guys. Im just poping in to give my opinion on the new teaser.
Hate it. Out of all the teaser posters ever done for any Batman film this is the least "Batman" out of any of them. There is nothing iconic about this. At all. Inception was the very first thing I thought of when I saw this. This is not Inception. This is Batman. When are we going to get that again? Hopefully when Nolan leaves this franchise.
I know that there are alot of Nolan fans out there and they love this take, good for you. I hate what Nolan has done and cant wait to see a return to the more comic book based elements. Realism is the worst thing that ever happened. Its nothign more than a lack of creativity and imagination.
My opinion. :cheers

Well hello, everyone. Its been awhile since Ive stopped in and checked on whats going on, so I thought Id say hi and maybe give a little info on what Ive been up to. Im still a Batman fan.LOL Though I have sold off a vast majority of my collection. I stopped collecting the comics about 2 years ago and actually sold off my entire comic book collection. Dont know if anyone remembers, but my earliest was a #10, with a dozen or so other Golden Age issues, and had a consistent run from issue 200 up for Batman, Tec was almost as consistent, and had full rund of every other Batman title along with all the minis, one shots, and GN's. Figured it was time for others to enjoy the books like I once did. I did keep 2 specific books though. I dont really collect a whole lot of Batman anymore. I enjoy what I still have in my collection and pick up an occasional piece here and there. Mostly items that are remnisient of the 80's and 70's. I started collecting Transformers again and got back into Horror collecting. Mainly Elm Street and Halloween. Havent been a huge fan of the Nolan franchise, but I am a bit anxious for this next one. Love Bane. Dont do the Batman costuming anymore either. I sold off all my Batman costumes and moved on. No regrets though. Anyway, glad to see that the site is still here and there are still fans around keeping the Legion alive.

I enjoyed the show immensely. It was smart writing, imo, and the designs were great. This could have been on the best Batman figure lines if it were done right. Again, thanks Mattel.
As far as traffic on Batman sights, it goes alot deeper than The Batman being replaced by BATB.
These are my thoughts, and also the thoughts of other fans/collectors as I do stay in contact with some of the guys Ive forged friendships over the years.
The Batman. This cartoon was "replaced", lets say, before the show itself was even cancelled. It became a Justice League show. They didnt focus on the rogues gallery or supporting Batfamily and decided to go to the other heroes. The whole "cant use this character or that character" crap is rediculous. WB needs to get their heads out of their a:::s and get their ducks in a row. A Batman universe is a Batman universe. The use of characters should not be limited due to a movie or a comic or a cartoon or a tv show. It wasnt like this is the 90's, it doesnt have to be like this now.
cartoons in general. How about just a solid Batman cartoon. Why does everything now have to have the entire DCU involved and Batman and his rogues gallery is just a part of an ensemble cast? Batman has arguably the best and largest group of foes and supporting characters in all of comics. BTAS didnt rely on the rest of the DCU, why does every cartoon incarnation and DTV have to now?
The comics. This is a dying medium. the lack of talent involved in the comic industry isnt helping things either.
The movies. Nolan is not a god. There are alot of fans who dont really adore his version of Batman. They just dont find it interesting enough to keep their attention or love strong enough to keep their activity in the virtual batworlds alive.
The toys and merchandise. mattel killed this. Their lack of creativity, terrible distribution has single handedly killed the toy collecting hobby when it comes to Batman.
There are afew other points that are also contributing to this lack of fan involvment on the sites and plain lack of support from the Batfan community in general.
All a new cartoon, or a new video game, a new movie will do is bring in the general browser who is looking to chat about the newest flavor/popular topic of the month. Its not the true, life long fan. They have been driven away by DC, WB, and mattel. Catering to the splash in the pan fans is not what will keep your longevity. The sooner they, and site owners, realize this, the stronger the Batman fan community will once again become. If its not already too late.
Matt, that last point wasnt for you directly, but as a generalization to all online fan sites.

Didnt see a discussion thread on SDCC merchandise, so Ill give my opinions here. VERY, VERY, VERY DISAPOINTED AND DISGUSTED. Toy Fair was sad, and SDCC is worse. Action League was nothing more than concept designs, which with Mattel, means they wont get made. I saw nothing "Batman" related from the DCU line. Infinite Heroes showed nothing that was new. Brave and the Bold, which should be their biggest line, has nothing more than repainted Batmen and B'wana beast. Which wasnt he shown last year!!?? The coolest thing, imo, was the Batman and Joker Mezits. Even those though are way over due. They even have a display of both basic and Movie Master figures! Really!? Why waste time on a line that is being sold at dollar stores and plugging up pegs at TRUs?
I never thought that I would see the day when the Batman toy license would reach such a low, but thanks to DC/WB/Mattel, I have been shown it.
Since I was 13 I have collected Batman comics and toys and memorabilia. Now, 24 years later, I have all but left the hobby. Its not due to my lack of love for the Caped Crusader, it for the lack of talent in the comics and lack of good, creative, and quality merchandise. In the end, I dont need to have "stuff" to show that I am a Batman fan, and the rights owners of this once spectacular property helped me in that decision.

Hm. Sounds very much like what was done in the 70's in Detective. I love that stuff. Since Ive stopped buying comics for 2 years now, I may pick this up to see how it is. Maybe it will bring me back to Batman comics again.

It's sad isn't it? Thing is, this is going on everywhere. SHH's Batman boards are d-e-a-d, even the BOTB is suffering big time. Ive been popping in on a couple of other forums, just to check on various interests, and theres nothing. Hardly any posting, and no news. This is for everything, the toys, movies, cartoons, costuming, and comics. Ive been saying it for awhile, this whole hobby, and genre itself is changing, and I personally do not think its for the better.
I say do what you feel is right to help the life of the forum, Matt.

If, and its a big if, they decided to use Joker again, I see no problem with getting another actor. Joker is a character, he wasnt Heath Ledger. He was nothing more than an actor portraying a fictional being. I think people seem to forget that. There have been many, many instances where different actors have portrayed the same character in a movie series. No one actor is bigger than the character they are playing.

If they plan on releasing this when they say and if WB sticks to the same timeline as they did with Begins and TDK, February should start the more solid info and details.
