Well, it came up in a past thread, and after how much fun I had doing the redesign polls, I thought Id make this into a poll.
here is the description of all the clayfaces from the DC Website (copyright them!) to refresh any of your memories:
Batman has defeated them many times - but the Clayface villains have spread like the mud they're composed of. The very first Clayface was horror actor Basil Karlo, who wore grotesque make-up as a disguise while he murdered his victims. Then Matt Hagen discovered a cave containing a pool of radioactive mud; when Hagen fell into it, the mud took over his body, giving him the power to transform into almost anything at will.
Hagen died in the "Crisis On Infinite Earths", but his place was soon taken by Clayface 3 - Preston Payne, whose mere touch is so lethal he has to wear a special containment suit at all times. Finally, Sondra Fuller was changed into Clayface 4 - a.k.a. Lady Clay - by the villainous gang-leader Kobra. She acquires the power of anything she changes into.
Basil Karlo mixed blood samples from Clayface 3 and Lady Clay, and injected the resulting serum into his own veins. He turned into a monstrous, shape-changing lunatic who calls himself the Ultimate Clayface. Brought together by Karlo, Preston Payne and Lady Clay tried to give up crime; they fell in love and had a son they christened Cassius. All the Clayfaces are currently incarcerated under high security - but baby Cassius seems to have inherited the powers of both his parents...and may yet turn out to be the most dangerous Clayface of them all.

[shadow=purple,left,300]Well, since Matt confirmed it wasn't Matt Hagen or Basil Karlo, I'm going with somebody else. Apparently we're going to be quite surprised. [/shadow]

Well, I know there's been some back and forth over this and there have been hints (from Matt mostly) that this season is building toward something.
The only real constant in the series, aside from Bruce learning the ropes and coming to grips with his life as Batman, is Ethan's ambivalence.
I actually don't think he's that strong a character and it just makes me wonder whether they've been setting this up. I dunno. Just a guess, really.

Frankly, I'd welcome another woman villain just to balance things out. Heck, for all I know it'll be Ellen Yin. And stop teasing us if you know, oh BatKing. It isn't fair to the minions.

[glow=blue,2,300]in the magazine. ;D Just kidding, here's the article. POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT! 121 Reasons Why 2005 will rock #56 Superhero Cartoons The Batman The first Season currently airs on Kids WB! and in spring 2005 will begin rerunning on Cartoon Network. "There's a huge twist at the end of season one," Tramm Wigzell, executive in charge of production tell us. "A friend will become an enemy and an enemy becomes a friend." Thanks!
Now, that's interesting. Some thoughts:
1. Makes me think even more that it's Bennett.
2. Makes me think that Ellen Yin will come around regarding the Batman's role in Gotham (a la Ellen Yindel in Dark Knight).
Or, maybe it's the other way around.
Or maybe it's Alfred, who had a short career as a supervillain back in the '60s!

Yeah, shortly after they introduced the "new look" Batman in 1964, they killed off Alfred and introduced Dick's Aunt Harriet. Of course, in great comics fashion, Alfred wasn't really dead. Rather, he'd been transformed into the Outsider, an unsightly villain who, among other things, made Batman's own arsenal come to life and attack him. The storyline played out over two years or so. Although some of the elements are kind of hokey by today's standards, it was an early attempt to inject some "realism" into Batman. Here's the cover from the climactic showdown, courtesy of The Grand Comics Database Project: www.comics.org/graphics/covers/87/400/87_4_0356.jpg

Does anyone have any pics of pre-injection Basil Karlo? I've never seen what this Clayface looked like.
