There has been alot, and I mean alot of talk and buzz around the announcement of Robin being added to The Batman for season 4 and I wanted to get a tally as to who should be in the Robin Suit in The Batman.
Me, I would love to see Jason Todd as Robin (seeing as it was Jason in Batman TNAS, but with Tim Drake's name) But in doing what is right, I will put my personal feelings aside and say that the right thing is to have Dick Grayson as Robin. I think what Matsuda and team do with The Batman is great, with there own versions of characters and whatnot, but this is one time you cannot alter history and have somebody else be Robin before Dick Grayson. It will anger alot of fans.
But then again with new and young fans of Batman, Detective, Teen Titans, and Robin comics and Batman The New Animated Series some fans might not be too familar with Dick Grayson as Robin because most will only know of him as Nightwing, thus Tim Drake might work as Robin in The Batman as well. Even though I wouldn't be in favor of that

:blinks: More familar with Nightwing and Tim Drake, eh? Who do they s'pose Nightwing IS if they don't know history of Robin? If they don't, they ought to.

Well, they do know bloodstainstoat :-P It could be anyone for their pick in my opinion. TB has taken a big spin from B:TAS Batgirl coming first, making it earlier in time and such...

If it is anybody other then Dick Grayson, you will see more hatred for this show then quite probably any other kids tv show in history.

You never know how they'll interpret Robin, whichever one he is. It doesnt matter which one it is but how he is incorporated into the series. Yes I know, there are those B:TAS crazed critics out there complaining that this show is nothing like the old series, but those people need to face the facts that producers can make their own shows with their own interpretations without having to be critcized of how its not the same. That to me is pretty pathetic. I know they're probably saying "Batgirl first? This show bites!" Is she not a good addition? I liked the first 2 episodes with her a lot and Im sure many others did as well since they were 2 of the highest ranking episodes. Lets just see how Robin turns out, no matter who he is, he'll still be great.

I was trying to say that most of the people out there, especially the shows' haters, will go crazy if it isn't Dick Grayson who is Robin in this series. It will just be more fuel for the fire in other words.

I voted for Tim Drake. We've seen Dick's origin in B:TAS and it is kinda hard to change that story without ticking off a lot of fans, so why not just choose a different Robin for this version of Batman? I just can't picture them using Jason Todd, although I'd think it would be cool to see.

Oh I agree with you, it's a lose-lose situation for them. But since I think they're going to have to change the origin to distinguish themselves from B:TAS, why not go a completely different route all together? It's just a thought. I'll be happy if it's Dick Grayson too btw.

Maybe it could be Jason. I mean with the whole resurfacing of him in the books, they might carry it over to turn viewers into readers.
The show could intro Jason stealing the caps off the Batmobile. And hasn't Batgirl already said that Bats doesn't really want a sidekick? so he would be reluctant to take Jason right away as a sidekick.... I don't know, I guess it could work ? ;D

It would have to be Dick, it's year 3 for Batman so i don't think Tim Drake has even been born.

I'll be happy with whomever they choose. I think this creative team can pull Robin off regardless if it's Dick, Jason, Tim, or anyone else. I'm really anxious to see how it turns out though.

Sure, this is a really great team with a lot of creative minds, and they could probably work it,but creativity will only take you so far and changing who becomes Robin first is way beyond that boundary.
No matter how well it might be done, having any other Robin before Dick Grayson would just seem wrong and completely unnappealing... almost sacreligious (a little dramatic but that's how it feels).[/glow]

Dick Grayson would have to come first. They already changed a bit of the mythology of Batman by making Ethan as Clayface and having Batgirl be first. Who knows... maybe Robin will be a new name! And should Robin be younger than Batgirl or older?? Anyway, Jason Todd and Carrie Kelly? I don't even know who they are.

Correction: Year.....5.
Dick Grayson is whom and what Robin WILL be. Plus, the Tim Drake in TNBA wasn't exactly Drake, it was half and half of Todd and Drake. But more like Todd.
Example: his life style before Robin was Todd, times where he back talked was Todd, so was in the flashback in ROTJ of him and Joker on similar vein in Death of the Family. From Drake: him alone (although so was Grayson) go lucking attitude, and him still alive (departure from Death in the Family).
Once Jason Todd and/or Tim Drake enter TB, or both like my idea, I would like them to be Jason Todd and Tim Drake seperate not one character with both of them together.

Giving Robin a new name would really piss off fans. I think Robin and Batgirl should be the same age. It would work better with their relationship. Jason Todd was the second Robin before Tim Drake. He was killed by Joker, but recently came back as the new Red Hood. Carrie Kelly was Robin in Dark Knight Returns, which was an alternate future in which Bruce Wayne returns as Batman after retiring after Jason was killed 10 years ago. Carrie became the first female Robin and helped out the elderly Batman.

I agree that Dick Grayson should be Robin assuming they actually do add Robin to the show. Since this cartoon really has nothing to do with normal continuity, they can pretty much do anyhting they want. I think the character should be Dick Grayson, but his background should be a mixture of all 3 Robins. For me, the bigger question is his costume. Will Robin look like he does (or is going to look) now or will he his costume be more like the original Robin? I'm sure they wouldn't be foolish enough to put Robin in little green panties like he wore in the old days, but maybe they'll give him more of a traditional costume. Personally, I think Robin's costume from TNBA was the best because it has that sort of mix.

I got an idea for a Robin costume for the show: Take the new Robin suit in the comics and just make his arms and legs green instead of red.

That's a good idea. The red/yellow/green color scheme is more recognizable for the character.

I want it to be Dicky, but I must say I was disappointed that Batgirl has no background history to the show... She appears as both Barbara AND Batgirl in the same episode. At least for BTAS they had four episodes where she JUST appeared as Barbara, but the downer is that she was only Batgirl in about two episodes because she came in so late. Of course, TNBA made up for that by putting her in almost every episode. So I'd still be angry even if Robin was Dick Grayson, and he acted as Robin and Dick in the same episode. At least give Robin a two part episode introduction... Especially showing his history of the Flying Graysons.
