Mr Matsuda, I love your work on The Batman! The style of the show is so cool and amazing! The new designs of the villains and Batman and Batgirl are so great! Now my questions: Have you designed charakters from Batman and the DC Universe in your style just for fun, like Huntress, Wonder Woman, Azrael... Who's you favoriet Batman villain? Which charakter was the most difficult to redesign? Have you already the designs for charakters which aren't planed yet (Two-Face, Ra's Al Ghul)? Is there a charakter (DC or Batman) who woun't appear in the show, but you would love to see? Keep on the amazing work And thank you for taking the time for the fans! PS: Thanks MATT for the Interview

Matt this is so friggin' awesome!!
Mr. Matsuda what is you opinion of the new Batman Begins film and it's direction?
If there was one thing you would like to change on your batman series what would it be?
So when will bats get another batmobile (not that there is anything wrong with the present one, but we all know that cave can store lots of stuff)?
Thanks again matt for this exclusive chance...and thank you Mr. Matsuda for taking time out to talk to your adoring fans... Is there any chance we will see some of bruce's past training and trials on the show?

Hey Mr Jeff Matsuda, i would have to say thank you for making a cool new look to the new Batman generation! How did you come up with all the unique designs for each character? Can you say if there are more villains in production about to appear in the batman? How did you become involved in the Batman? What were your reactions when your designs began to appear in the Batman? Thanx for your time, and to you Matt! thank you!

A couple of questions...
First off, the show has taken a lot of heat in the fan community. How does it feel to be, essentially, working in the shadow of Batman: The Animated Series, and how did the existance of this series make you change your approach to some of the characters/episodes?
Poison Ivy, a major fan favourite, was held back for quite a while. Any reason why she was not included in the initial batch of villains? Did the fan pressure help in the decision to include her, or was her appearance always planned but just not announced?
I'd also just like to say that it's awesome to have so many people who are willing to take the time out of their days to please the fan community with our inane, senseless barrage of questions. You should know that this kind of interaction is greatly appreciated, and really shows that you care about your fanbases. I have an enormous amount of respect for the way that so many people who are a part of the show have been willing to come forward and chat. So, I feel that you should be commended for the thoughtfulness of Q&A sessions like this. Now that the tactfulness is out of the way, the inane question that's on everybody's mind... what's the deal with Poison Ivy's hair?
Kudos!

Thanks for the opportunity Jeff - Any plans for an original DVD project down the line, in the tradition of BTAS' "Mask of The Phantasm" or BB's "Return of the Joker"? These projects seem to represent the best of both of these past series, so an extended storyline of this type in "The Batman" universe would certainly be fantastic!

I hope it isn't to late for some more question!
I have read that, with the 2006 release of Superman Returns, Warner talks about a TV Show. Did they maybe already contact you? How big are the chances that it is in the same style as The Batman? It would only be logically to make it in your style, because then WB could make crossovers and build a new universe (like the current animated universe with BTAS, STAS, JLU...) Would you like to make a other series set in the 'The Batman' universe (Superman or other)?

Thank you /\/\att and Jeff or should I say Mr. Matsuda
There's been a rumor of a Batgirl TV show, if it's true then will you be taking part in it.
On your website there's a picture of you on your desk and one of the council members in The Big Heat and one of the people in the court session in Meltdown look just like that, was that done on purpose?
Well thanks for taking the time to answer our questions and thanks again /\/\att

Hi everyone, Jeff Matsuda here, I finally had some time so I wanted to answer some questions! First off, I would like to thank Matt and everyone for their support of our show. We try very hard to bring you guys the best shows we can! Thanks for taking the time to ask questions, I hope I can answer them for you.
Here goes!
Have you designed charakters from Batman and the DC Universe in your style just for fun, like Huntress, Wonder Woman, Azrael...
Once in awhile Jose, Tom or Andy and I will sit around and just draw some DC characters, most of the time tho, it's drawings of each other on post it notes.
My favorite villain is...a toss up between Penguin and Joker. They are both coming into their own in the series and it's been great to see them mature. I love Kevin Michael Richardson's Joker and Tom Kinney's Penguin interpretations. It was fun redesigning two of the biggest from Batman's rogues gallery.
The most difficult redesign was Penguin. When you break him down as a character he's sorta hard to pin down. Short guy in a tux with a penguin motif, I don't know it just seemed wrong to mess with him too much. That's the main reason it was tough, I really like to look at the core of the character , keep true to that, but bring as much of myself to it. With Penguin I found it hard to go nuts in the design
Due to time, I haven't designed stuff that isn't in the show yet, but I'm workin on Condiment King to keep busy.
Thanks for listening guys, I'd answer more, but I typr way too slow!
Jeff

LoG has been behind your team and the overall vision for The Batman literally since day one..and we're proud to be able to support you guys in any way we can! I wonder if any of the fun sketches or drawings you guys do of other DC characters will ever be able to be seen? It probably seems trivial to you guys, but to us, it helps to expand the new Batman animated universe to get an idea of you, Tom and Jose's visions of the other characters.

Jeff Condiment King! A classic super-villian from BTAS' "Make "Em Laugh" - genius! He should team up with Cluemaster, Calendar Man, Killer Moth and the Cavalier to form a "Legion of Fools" - you could have the Joker busting them up for stealing his thunder, before the Batman even gets there! Maybe Joker catches the eye of a little henchgirl at the "Fools" hideout...whose name is Harleen...ah well, dream baby dream...

Welcome to the forums Mr. Matsuda! I've been enjoying your work for a couple of years now - my kids turned me onto Jackie Chan and it's been a fun ride ever since!
I really appreciate the way that you've gone with The Batman - stripping the character to the core and building it back up from there. I'm a classic Bat fan, so seeing designs and characterizations that are closer to the original vision is very fun. My kids absolutely LOVE the show.
Well, before I ramble on too much more, I just want to thank you again. Glad to see you here - it's not often that fans get to talk to the team behind the show, so being able to chat with all of you is really great.

It's a pleasure and a privelege to have you visit with us here Mr Matsuda! Thanks for taking the time and thank you for your new vision of the Batman and his world! Just one question currently, new character design. How do you arrive at all aspects from his/her origins to their appearance. Is it a round table discussion sort of thing or are there multiple concepts submitted for approval? Once again thank you for sharing some of your valuable time.

First of all, welcome to LoG, Mr. Matsuda!
I want to say that your interpretations of my two favorite villains are wonderful! The designs of the Riddler and Mr. Freeze are top-notch. This show has really grown on me, it's become one of the top 3 animated shows I've ever watched.
I wuld also like to echo the requests of other forum members to see your team's designs of other characters that might never be in the show. The unique art style that's become the cornerstone of [glow=purple,2,300]The Batman[/glow] would translate well to other DC properties. I would LOVE to see your interpretation of my 2nd favorite character of all time, Hawkman. Keep up the phenomenal work gang!
If there was a crossover character from the DCU, which one would you guys like to do the most?

Jeff: I would like to join everyone else in welcoming you to LoG! I think I speak for many of us when I say it is a thrill to have you hear!
There is nothing I can say that can add to anything here, but I must say (again), just how much I love your work on "The Batman".
Matt can personally vouch for how passionate I am about your show's success and development over the last year. Your efforts with this icon have far surpassed any expectations (and very high ones at that) we had for the show and I take a great deal of pleasure in watching many close-minded individuals who were far too critical of your visions in the beginning come around and accepting this show for what it is.....an excellent continuation of the legacy of Batman that offers a fresh perspective on the legend.
Congratulations on all of your success with The Batman and I look forward to many opportunities to interact with you in the future!

To echo that last question, i have been busy now with a book, so i don't have that much time to be online, but this site is the defanit on anything BATMAN period!! But my question is.........
Will you guys be great and collect all the sketches, notes, post its and everything you can think of and put it in a book like the one by Paul Dini and Chip Kidd??? I was hoping they would do that for the BATMAN BEYOND show, but nothing as of yet. I treasure the book that did come out, and love the BATMAN"s shows redesign almost solely for the fact that they are so different from the past decade's great shows, and speak their own voice. Thanx for listening Jeff!!
