 Hey all, Had a question about Thomas Wayne. I grew up reading and believing him to be an industrialist, a Trump-esque figure. Now I read he was a doctor. Which is correct? If he was a doctor, how did Wayne Enterprises come about?

He was a Doctor. He even wore his own version of the Bat suit at one time....

i always just assumed that he had business ventures outside of his medical practice... making the right investments and meeting the right connections can turn anyone into a regular 'donald trump'...

The Wayne family was rich before Thomas Wayne came into the picture. The Wayne fortune was made in similar ways to the Rockefellers and Kennedys. It's old money. Thomas Wayne was a doctor who was the owner of Waye Corp but was not the acting CEO.

[glow=purple,2,300]According to the special Batman Wizard publication "the Waynes speculated in real estate when Gotham property was cheap. Bruce Wayne practically owns all of the prime Gotham real estate and hauls in big bucks from the rents on it."
I also read that this took place prior to the industrial revolution with one of BW's great grandfathers...I think it was Judge -something or other- Wayne. Anyway, the point being that the Waynes are old money.
Plus, it depends on the writer as well; Frank Miller says that WE was already established, while Jeph Lobe says that BW started it when he met Lucis Fox. [/glow]
