i never really liked the idea of the bat signal. i mean if hes an urban legend why would the cops need to get in touch with him? i know him and gordon is one thing, but to have a way to contact him for a whole city to see doesnt make sense

The new explantion in the comics is that it's a psycholgical weapon the police use to intimidate crooks with the "fabricated" urban legend. It doesn't make sense, but I like it, just like Clark Kent's glasses as disguise

I like the ealiest forms of Batman, from 1939, but I can't stand it after Robin comes into the picture and he gets so corny. The thing is, there were only, like, 11 stories before Robin. So what bothers me is that I wish they would've waited to create Robin and had more dark, dark '40's stories. I can't get Batman Archives, which has those 11 stories from my bookstore, either, because it's out of print. Later.

[glow=purple,2,300]I don't think they could've waited to introduce Robin properly because he was part of the idiotic "sidekick mandate." This was where the comics publishers felt that the main superheroes needed kid sidekicks because it was believed that the children reading comics would identify more with them. Hey, even Bob Kane wasn't too crazy about Robin either.[/glow]

Robin's good but more solo batman would be better as he can be more liek the grumpy solo batman - again does that make sense - i mean you know the solitary emotionless batman we all enjoy instead of havign to worry about robin

[glow=purple,2,300]Yeah if not written properly, Robin-in any incarnation- can come across as this anoying "hanger-on" who is constantly getting into trouble. [/glow]

I didn't really mean "waited to indroduce him", I just thougt it would be cool if they'd gotten the idea later than they did. I've grown more attached to the modern Batman lately, though, anyway. I read "Year One" and "The Dark Knight Returns". I loved them both.

Bat-Gripes by Thunder 1. Lose the major crossover events. there doesn't need to be a story that crosses over all the Bat-books every year. It's just too much. 2. Stop making new villains! There are plenty of great villains in Gotham City. Characters like The Tally Man, Steel Jacket, and Hush never needed to happen. 3. Reduce the number of people who know Bruce's identity....only the following people should still know: - Alfred
- Dick Grayson
- Tim Drake
- Barbara Gordon
- the original JLAers, Superman, Wonder Woman, Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Aquaman, J'onn J'onzz, and maybe Ollie Queen & Wildcat of the JSA
- Ras Al Ghul and Talia
- Hugo Strange
Those are the ONLY people who should know Bruce is Batman

I always felt that Bane was one of the newer breed of Bat-villain. I don't know..I was never really a Bane fan. The only newer Bat-villain I liked was Mr. Zsasz. Maybe because he's just a straightforward serial killer. The Ventriloquist was never my cup of tea...I haven't read Hush..but maybe after I do, I'll change my opinion on him. Batman has more villains to deal with than most of the JLA combined. I think the herd needs to be thinned out.

[glow=purple,2,300]Yeah, that's another gripe that I have; the lack of use of Mr. Zsasz. He's a cool villian just because of the simplicity of his methods. No fear gas, no venom, no smiling fish, just a plain old knife.
BTW; If you like Zsasz check out the first four issues of Shadow of the Bat and the Batgirl prestigue format issue (there were four different ones) that came out before the B&R movie. Oh, and check out a recent issue of detective. The one with the Steph/Robin cover by Tim Sale.[/glow]
