This really started out with a bang. I haven't been anxious for the next part of a series since Knightsend. Fortunately we only have to wait until next week for the next three parts. The 12-cent adventure was probabably the best buy in comics ever. Great story, awesome kick off. I don't know if we are supposed to stay Spoiler free, so be warned: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD According to the synopses that the DC page has posted the mastermind behind all of this is supposed to hit close to home. There are only a few batvillians with the smarts to pull this kind of chaos off. Joker - not likely because he apparently is going off with the circus now after the latest issue of Gotham Knights. Riddler - not possible (if continuity stands) he is too busy trying to convince Ivy not to kill him. Wasn't that Detective backup story really good. Penguin - he wouldn't be stupid enough to put himself in the middle of the firefight, even though he is a little suspicious because he hired the most deadly of all the bodyguards that were there. Ra's Al Ghul (the new one) - I would believe that she could and would do it. She said that she would hurt Batman. Destroying Gotham would definitely do it. I can't wrap my mind around the idea. Just one of those gut things. My main suspect is Bane. The mastermind is supposed to hit home with the Dark Knight. What villian has Bruce helped more than Bane? I know that when we last saw him he supposedly turned good, but who attacked the benefit that Bruce was at: Kobra. Who was the last leader of Kobra: King Snake, Bane's father. "Things are different now." Bane always wanted Gotham. From day one, the thing he wanted to take from Batman was Gotham. This also brings him back to a villian status. I personally would like him brought back. I don't have any more info than you guys do, this is just what I see from reading these two issues. So how far out in left field am I? Or does it make sense?

[glow=purple,2,300]I have to admit, I went into this whole War Games thing very suspiciously; cause some of the previous "massive story arcs" were quite poor IMHO. But I gotta tell ya, I was pleasantly surprised at how solid the writing was in both issues; they're really starting off on the right foot in my book. So if you haven’t picked these up yet, you really need to. Thumbs up [/glow]

Oops I forgot to get the first issue of War Games. I picked up the 12 cent adventure but forgot to get Detective! I guess I can wait until next week. Quick question though because I don't read every Bat title. What happened to the original Ra's Al Ghul? Did he finally die? and who's the new Ra's, Talia? 12 cent adventure was okay, too much Spoiler though.

[glow=Purple,2,300]That sounds good, what's her name? although, I think the original is coming back . y'know , with Batman Begins coming out. [/glow]

I've gotten access to war games parts 2 and 3..Not much happens, but I'll spoil it here for those that want to hear it
SPOILERS COMING SPOILERS COMING SPOILERS COMING
SPOILERS COMING
SPOILERS COMING
ok..part 2 - lots of turf war fighting..lots of action. Some banter between the bat-squad etc. Orpheus and Onyx are in there some more and it ends with Penguin on the docks talking something about how fighting is business and business is good..blah balh blah
part 3 - MORE fighting lol. and Onyx, Orpheus's bodyguard, gets hurt pretty bad. Then, in the end Batman notifies oracle and nightwing that tarantulla will be joining them in their battle against the 'war games'.
another cool thing...each issue has a fold out poster for the sky captain and the world of tomorrow film!

I like the whole idea of War Games, a three month storyline and all, but I hate it when they cross over into other comics. Like this storyline is going to do. Crossing into:
Detective, Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, Batgirl, Gotham Knights, and Legends of the Dark Knight.
I know it's probably DC's way to boost comic sales, but why can't they just run the story in Batman, and Detective? And make them double sized issues?

Caution: Spoilers.... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . So, do you think Spoiler sent those letters out herself? How did she know about the meeting and where it was? How did she know that Onyx was a "gate crasher"? Plus, she had Kosov's and Scarfaces's name on her list before they showed up. Just seems like she had a lot of info...

That was what I was wondering myself as I read these 2 issues. Since the mastermind behind this "hits close to home" Spoiler is my #1 suspect right now. I'm not going to pick up the rest of the arc until it's released in TPB form, so I'll be curious to see how Spoiler fits into all of this.

[shadow=blue,left,300]I finally had the chance to catch up on "War Games" this weekend and I must say that I am totally hooked! The twists in this story thus far have been very well done and I have no doubt that we are about to be blown away with the future issues!
As far as the culprit, I am unsure who to point at just yet. While I am convinced that Spoiler is involved, I am not sure that she is the brains behind this chaos.
Time will tell..... [/shadow]
