Hey all, I was thinking, I know Bruce is a loner and he has to do "this" alone, but I'm kinda getting tired of seeing him alone. Every story when Bruce and Selina get "close" I get psyched, the romance part of their story is great! I was thinking, what if Bruce & Selina got married? Kind of like when Peter Parker and Mary Jane got married... I think it would add a new dimension to each character. Now, they are both obligated not just to Gotham, but to eachother. I understand the dynamic now, how they both want eachother but their obligations make any sort of real relationship impossible. But it would be a new challenge for Bruce. How to juggle his life promise to his family and the city, and his love for Selina. Obviously, having no strings attached gives Bruce that advantage of putting his life on the line. Anyway, I just thought it might be a new way of looking at the two....something different, special occasion kind of thing....

Maybe they'll make an elseworlds kind of thing where that happens. However, I think having that happen in official continuity would be one of the worst mistakes DC could make. IMO, Batman would never bring someone into his life who could be a liability, and if he had to choose between a married life and the life of Batman, I think he would undoubtedly choose the latter. The way I see it, Bruce even enjoys being Batman, in addition to Batman being his true true identity. He can't not be Batman, and getting married would limit his opportunities to do so, at the least. Especially if he had kids. ;D I wouldn't like to see that happen, but it's an interesting thought, and would make a great elseworlds tale. I of course mean no disrespect toward your ideas with my opinionated post, I just don't want that to happen for real.

It's all good Bane.... I agree with your points. My thought was that being married would be another obstacle Bruce would have to deal with, being that a wife would be a liability. I do remember that old tale, Batman: Son of the Demon, where he was ready to settle down and have a child with Talia. So, it is possible, Bruce being Batman even though he would be married. Plus he would be marrying someone with a dual identity. They both are flawed, so I think it could work. You're right, in Elseworlds, anything can happen.....

maybe with selina dyign as his fault? or is that too far, as in DC story wise, the loss of a main charcter and pushing batman to the edge

In "Son of the Demon", Talia is pregnant with Bruce's baby. Throughout the time he knew she was "With Child" he was constantly worried about her while a whole war was going on around them. As much as I loved the story, I wouldnt want to see Bruce like that all the time. Constantly worried about a loved one like that takes away alot of his edginess. Its a liability that, if it were reality, could get him killed.

[shadow=green,left,300]I get what you're trying to say, but I still like seeing Batman alone... no one to hold him down, no one to divert his attention to his so-called "cause"...
Now maybe if they did that with the movies...heaven forbid
I mean, I'm frustrated with the whole concept of the Bat-Family which consists of like, 5 people...let alone Bruce/Batman having a love life...[/shadow]

Actually, I thought of something. Anyone aquainted with the Crisis on Infinite Earths and the whole concept that the Golden Age of DC is a whole different continuity than the Modern Age will probably know that the Golden Age Batman(the one who appeared in Batman comics before 1955, or thereabouts) did marry Selina Kyle in a story in The Brave and the Bold #197(I think that's right). The story, that of Golden Age Batman's later life, was later added to, when it was established that Selina was later murdered by a criminal several years after their marrige, and died in Batman's arms. He then quit being Batman, for good, he thought, until a powerful enemy arose, and Bruce was forced to become Batman once again, stopping this foe at the cost of his own life. The Golden Age Earth, dubbed "Earth-Two"(the Modern Age Earth was "Earth-One")was established as a parallel world in 1961. the Crisis changed everything. I won't go into that, but if anyone is interested in it, tell me; I have the addresses to a couple of great sites which have in-depth explanations of all this. It's quite complex and confusing, but can be understood. I can't say for sure that all the info in this post is completely accurate, but it's what I understand of what happened to Golden Age Batman, and an instance in which he married Selina in a sort of "elseworlds" setting. Hope I didn't bore you too much; I find this stuff fascinating. ;D

After thinking about this, I would like to see Bruce get a girlfriend or wife in the comics. I really like "Mask of the Phantasm" and the prospects of Bruce becoming close with someone. I think that it would add another dimension to his character. I really liked the chemistry between Selina and Bruce in "Hush". I think that it would be cool of they were a kick-a$$ duo that cleaned up Gotham together. It would change their characters a bit and maybe bring in the possibility of a son of Batman? ?? That would be cool!

I would not mind seeing a much closer relationship with Bruce and Selina (Eventhough they got as close as they have ever gotten in Hush until the end of the story), but I have always pictured Bruce as a loner, and I think if he had a permanant relationship that he would become stupid, and could put Selina and himself in harms way.
