Hey Bat-fans -- Terry Beatty, long-time Bat-inker here. I've just re-joined the board and thought I'd post a message. Hope I remember how this works!
Anyhow -- I trust you are all giving the new THE BATMAN STRIKES comic book a chance. Our 2nd issue should be out this week (I got my comps last week). Chris really knocked himself out on the cool Man-Bat images, and I think it's a fun read.
Of course those of you who've tracked down the Burger King promo issue have already seen that story! Funny thing is, I haven't seen a printed copy of the BK comic yet. That's often the case with promo merchandise like this (calendars, t-shirts. etc.) -- they're on the market a good while before the artists ever see a copy -- unlike the regular monthly comics, which we contributors usually have before they're on the store shelves.
I've just turned in the inks on #4 (Bane) and have been handed the pencils for the first half of #5 (Ventriloquist & Scarface). I'm having a great time with Chris' pencils and Jeff's designs.
BATMAN ADVENTURES fans might want to track down the two digest issues that DC recently published -- handsome little books that collect five issues of the comic in each. These are available from comic shops, book stores, amazon -- and are even being sold through school book clubs. A couple Scooby Doo digests done a while back were such a hit, that DC has followed up with these Bat-books -- and I'm hoping they'll continue them as a series.
Glad to be here among the Bat-fans!

Well welcome back aboard! I'm sure I speak for us all in saying how great it is to have you!
I actually saw those "Digest" editions not too long ago and thought they were just awesome. loved the format. What a great idea. Even though I failed to pick em up at the time, I hope they continue. Perfect gifts, especially for the younger fans or those you wanna introduce to the comic world.

Fantastic work on #1! I was impressed. It is a book that I would let my kids pick up on a monthly basis - and that's saying something! ;D
As far as the BK issue - I never even saw them in my area. I went the weekend after I saw the message here on LOG and the promotion was for Shark Tale toys. Meh. Too bad - I think the comic promo went over pretty well last year. Maybe it needs to be a longer promotion.
The digest format is excellent!! I've been a collector of those from way back - as a matter of fact, when I was a child, the digest issues were the only way to get comics in my area, unless I happened to find a spinner rack somewhere. I'm glad that DC has brought this format back. I hope it does well and it continues to bring in the next generation of readers!

Well, if I read some of the other posts here, I'd have learned that there are no pages from #2 in the BK comic -- having not seen one yet, I didn't know that. It's my understanding that the BK comic is a "stand-by" give-away -- that is, it's what you'll get if they run out of the Yu-Gi-Oh or Shark Tale toys. And maybe not all BKs are getting them. The closest one to me didn't know about it either! Anyhow -- thanks for the welcome. Now if you'll excuse me, I have pages from The Batman Strikes #5 to ink!

It's great to have you here Terry, I think it's really nice of you to take the time to interact with us here at LOG. I thought the art on Batman Strikes was fantastic but I really didn't care for the writing on it, a little too childish and corny for my tastes, but I'll continue to pick it up in the hopes that the stories improve and of course to check out the artwork.
By the way I've had no luck finding the BK issue either.

[shadow=green,left,300]In Bill Matheny's defense on strikes...he didn't get a chance to even see an ep when he had to start writing the show..he could only go off what he was told and the scripts he'd read...check out thjis part of the chris jones chat transcript.[/shadow]
LoGMatt - seriously...although the writing needs work...your art is worth my $2.25 by itself! ChristopherJones - I know that Bill Matheny wants to get into meatier stories, just as I do. LoGMatt - Good to hear! ChristopherJones - The challenge is trying to write for a show before its on the air. LoGMatt - Is Bill a big Batman fan? ChristopherJones - Yep. He is. Keep in mind that the first four issues were written without Bill having seen an episode. He's only been able to read the scripts for the episodes with the villians in question. LoGMatt - That would make it tough peev34 - No doubt.

I never got a chance to read the Chris Jones Transcript. Good to know that the stories will be getting better. Thanks for the information Matt.
