Hey all,
I was checking out some upcoming cover of Batman comics on DCCOMICS.com. It looks like the yellow oval is back. Anyone know when this is happening, and if anything else (like the color) of the costume is also changing?
Thanks, Dan

The only pic with the yellow oval I saw was The Batman Strikes issue, which is based on the new Batman cartoon.

actually nightwing 101 will be "nightwing: year one", a retro story, but i'm not sure about detective, i hope they don't bring back the oval.

Those both look like they are "flashback" stories, especially the 1st cover which clearly took place during Robin's "monkey-boy" period lol.

I'd prefer if they did... Because the black bat logo with pouched utility belt is my second favorate look. My favorate costume is the blue & gray costume with the yellow oval bat logo with no outer trunks. Still I think both are great looks. PJ

The pouched belt is the best!

thanks for providing those links dlobro. as it was mentioned the nightwing cover is for his year one arc, so i guess it mkaes sense to have batman's older look.
the detective cover however, is a different story. altho in an interview Lapham has said he just wants to stick to basic characters like robin and gordon and a few others, it wasnt specified that it'd be a flashback story like nightwing's year one.
in any case, i dont really think it makes much of a difference, i think it depends on the artist and who they want to draw ol' bats.

Actually, Chris could probably comment better than I can here - but, in his absence, I believe that all artists currently doing a Batman (or DC for that matter) title, do their costume designs based on an official "style guide" which says how to draw the utility belt, batsymbol, etc. That helps to keep things in line/continuity with each other. My guess is this is some kind of flashback since the Batman that we've seen in Identity Crisis is oval-less.

thanks for pointing that out reideen1313, i didnt know they had a style guide which they used to follow. learn something new everyday as for the pictures in question, yeah i afree i think it might just be some flashback scene. more will be clear once the issues are released.
