I liked the Hunter Rose stuff. Got into it from the Xover's. Even bought Black, White and Red + Devils Child and a few others and thought them to be pretty good.
But after looking at some of the other Grendels I got more than a bit lost.

But after looking at some of the other Grendels I got more than a bit lost. I can certainly understand that. I've found it best to stick to the Hunter, Christine and Grendel Prime characters, for me anyway. I've read some of the others and they just aren't as much fun as those 3 are for me. Perhaps it's because those were really my first experience with Grendel? Who knows. Personally, I see Grendel as a Batman What If? type of story. Bruce Wayne easily could have walked down another path the day his parents were killed. He would have been one heck of a Grendel!

[shadow=green,left,300]That's what was so great about the first Grendel/Batman crossover is that you saw the likeness between Bruce and Hunter!
to be honest...I actually love and get into ALL things Grendel! My personal obsessions are Orion Assante, Eppy Thatcher and Brian Li Sung....I actually don't get into Hunter, Christine as much.......
.....of course I love Prime..he was my first experience with the legacy.

I'm a huge Grendel fan. I've got everything in the "Hunter" arc. I want to read Grendel Prime, what would be a good starting point for that series?

I want to read Grendel Prime, what would be a good starting point for that series? War Child would be the place to start. I believe you can pick it up in TPB format, or most comic shops have issues 1 - 10 for around cover price. Finding #1 might be a little tough though.

[shadow=green,left,300]Actually, not to contradict Reideen..but IMO you need to start from the beginning to REALLY understand Prime and the world he's in. Now you can ignore Grendel tales, but there are a few key players that all relate in some way down the line and all stories are important. I would personally begin with the 'God and the Devil' series featuring Eppy Thatcher, then move to 'Devil's Reign' focusing on Orion Assante aka Grendel Khan...this is the set up for Grendel PRime...without it, nothing will really make sense. You can get re-prints of God and the Devil and Devi's Regisn is currently on comic store shelves! But warning, don't skip ahead in issues, or you'll get lost! Its a good read...takes me about 40 minutes to read thru one of the old re-prints! a LOT of story, plus Devil's Reign was Tim Sale's first big job![/shadow]
