Another great figure! Interesting that they choose the BTAS design, but very cool! Hope they show more new Batman villains...!

yes clayface looks very matt hagen BTAS style
"As subtly revealed on the sides of the packaging samples, there were tiny pictures of two more DCSH figures soon to be on shelves Black Suit Superman and Cyborg Superman. We might have clearer pictures once we download everything from our cameras, but in the meantime, enjoy this small glimpse."
i thought mattel couldnt make story specific characters numerous times at these forums i read that is why we'll never see a seuprman in the black suit

that is a great Clayface. but just to let everyone know, this line is based on character's appearance in the comics, so its not Matt Hagen as he never looked like that in the comics. it's either Basil Karlo as Ultimate Clayface, or its Cassius Payne. Karlo looked like that during NML and in Superman/Batman. Cassius had that appearance in Gotham Knights. due to the spikes on the hand i would say its Karlo. in the arc "fruit of the earth", he can be seen with very similiar spikes. and the comic that comes with him will tell us nothing, as they have nothing to do with the appearance of the character. its doubtful that they'd make a Cassius Payne Clayface as he is alot newer to Batman's rogues gallery than alot opf figures who would be made first. and the spikes show that it's most likely Karlo. which is so cool, as i've been waiting for a real Ultimate Clayface figure for forever (the LOTDK version is very weird and not at all comic accurate).

Man-bat and Clayface= most awesome things my eyes have beheld in a very long while. I'm really hoping we see more Batman villains as the 'fair progresses, although I'm not sure what day we're on. Kinda disillusioned when I see all the repaints, the same as everyone else, but I still have hope that repaints aren't all we'll be getting. I am a little puzzled by the relatively large number of Supes figures, both new characters and repaints, that we're both getting and seeing at Toyfair, in comparison to the Batman ones. Hope this line isn't going to become lopsided, especially if it weren't in favor of my #1.

wow..even though they showcased a beatiful clayface and manbat...this toyfair has to be one big let down. Only 5 jlus were shown, no losh till 08, and only 2 new scplts for dcsh. Toyfair isnt the same as it use to be.

Toyfair isnt the same as it use to be. I blame the toy company itself. There is alot they could do with the license, but they dont. I would love to see a new Batmobile or vehicle of some sort, even a Joker car or something. How about a playset? A Batcave. My personal opinion is that Mattel just isnt a good toy company, and Im not only referring to the DC license, I mean all across the board with all their properties. I mean, how the heck can you let Barbie be knocked off the number one spot for cryin' out loud? Yeh, I like the Clayface and Manbat, but what else is there? And Im sorry, but history has shown that kids do not want all those repainted variants. The shelves get clogged with them. So the stores dont re order because the shelves are still full, so Mattels distribution goes down. Dont they see this?

Why do so many action figure-producing companies and lines always seem to fall back into this obsolete repaint logic? Laziness? No one knows. And how did Toybiz avoid it for the most part with Marvel Legends? They had variants galore, but I don't recall many repaints, and if they had them, there was a good reason. DCSH needs to continue being the DC answer to ML, so maybe they should take some more advice from that line. They already have great sculpting and articulation, now they should focus on a wide range of characters. They probably are already- just because there aren't many new sculpts at Toyfair yet doesn't mean they don't exist. Let's just hope they continue to do this line well. It would be a great success if this line prevailed despite DC Direct's @$$holish actions toward it.

They look great, but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of Batman related figures shown. Well, I was also disappointed with the lack of any DCSH figures shown...but I really like the Horsemen sculpted BattleLeague game figures. PJ

OK..this is what I thought the case would be, but I wanted to verify with our friends the Horsemen first. I asked them about this "version" of Clayface..and this is what they told us. remember, you read it here on LoG: the Batman Toy Authority!

sounds cool. The Horseman really want to do characters from the Batman universe, I just dont understand why we're not getting more of a variety and more quickly, AND in more abundance in case allocation. I really would like to see Riddler and Penguin and maybe even Ivy.

The new two packs can be new scuplted nightwing and Robin..heres hoping. Oh yea I heard the Horseman would love to do a Grundy, but waiting for mattel to fix the scale issue. Hey, you caught that! Along with all these new sculpts coming our way, ya know what I'd like to see? The Four Horsemen do a brand new Batman! Why not? Toy Biz made umpteen zillion Spidermen and they seemed to sell, so why not a new take on Batman?

The one thing I am worried about...FINDING THESE ON THE PEGS!!! I can see it now, walk into a store and 3 or 4 pegs full of one character. I think I am going to order a case online and try to forget even going to stores for these. I am so sick of seeing nothing but Superman and Bizzaro EVERYTIME I go into the toy isle. Why does Mattel let this happen? Are they aware this is going on? I can't be the only one who has tried to tell Mattel about this.

No, this is a long-standing issue that has been addressed directly with them over and over. Its one of the reasons I created LOG. I can go into why this still happens but its long and boring and doesn't make a lot of sense, lol. What you have to remember is the retailers have a lot of control over what is on their shelves..its not all up to Mattel. And the employees at Mattel are workign within their reality to make things better. and they have gotten better...a LOT actually...and it will continue as long as we, the fans, support the lines and communicate with them as much as we can. Its for just this reason sites like ours are so necessary.
