Think of what BATGIRL means to you...as a character, his motivations, his purpose, and his skills, and vote on who you think is the better FEMALE BAT.

I've gotta vote for Babs-hands down the best sidekick Batman ever had.I like her because you can relate to her-shes just a really smart, really dedicated person who wanted to do good by following in Batmans footsteps.Either as Batgirl or now as Oracle,Babs has got heart and you cant help rooting for her...plus shes a redhead

[shadow=purple,left,300]tough between Cassandra and Helena...
Barbra was a good Batgirl...but she's even better as Oracle, so I can rule her out easier...[/shadow]

I think Babs is MUCH better as Oracle...she started off good as Batgirl....but was always plagued with too much Self-Doubt and wanting to please everyone else....
Cassie gets the job done, is a better fighter, instills more fear (as a Batgirl should, much like Batman)....she IS Batgirl to a lot of people...
Besides being my Wife's favorite character!

Cain, if only because she is the most bad@$$. Barbara Gordon was great, but I like her being Oracle more. Helena Bertinelli...when was she a Batgirl?!

Helena Bertinelli...when was she a Batgirl?! She originally wore the current Batgirl's costume during the No Man's Land arc.

Cassie for me. Probably only because shes a better fighter. But doesn't it bother you that they made it that shes better at martial arts then Batman? That just bugs me for some reason.

She has a training edge on him...not a desire edge or the smarts to put it to use...he has all that.

She has a training edge on him...not a desire edge or the smarts to put it to use...he has all that. Exactly. Training is her advantage. Batman has the drive, the intelligence, the desire, and the endurance to use his skills.

[shadow=green,left,300]I enjoyed Helena in the roll, but Cassie has really come into her own! Especially shining in that new 'Fresh Blood' mini-series.[/shadow]

I voted for Cassie.
Really, we're only talking about Barbara and Cassie here. Helena really, IMO, doesn't count as Batgirl. I much prefer Babs as Oracle.
As far as Cassie - I really enjoyed the first arc of the Batgirl series before she learned to speak. I thought it was very interesting to see a character go thru the book without talking - the story really had to be told via the artist. Now that she can speak, I think my interest in the character has diminished. She still fits the role quite nicely, I just would have preferred to see her remain mute.

Reeaaly tough call. I ultimately vote Cain for various reasons. However; in my heart I would say Babs but I like and enjoy her more as Oracle with her Batgirl and tragedy background. I love the character she is now as a result of who she was and what she endured. She's far more interesting, enjoyable and even mor "heroic" now. I love love the concept and character that is oracle and wouldnt want to see anyone "lesser" fill that roll. Babs is kinda like Hal Jordan or Barry Alan, great clasic / traditional "Heroes". But not until Bary died and Hal went bad, did their characters really have any deapth or "weight" so to speak.

I voted for Cain, as I am too young to remember Babs in the comics, although I have seen her as Batgirl on TAS, though I am not sure if they acted the same in the comics and the cartoon.

[shadow=green,left,300]Stephanie counts as a Robin...sure its a technicality..but the time spent in the suit is fairly comparible.[/shadow] But there was more made out of Stephanie being Robin - it was an 'event' like everything is these days. It was something that could be seen in the foreshadowing of the book well in advance. Helena being Batgirl was more of a plot device to bring in a new character.

Definitely Cassandra (trying to talk the wife into naming our future daughter after her). Barbara is so much better as Oracle as Helena is great as the Huntress. Cassie on the other hand is able to go up against the likes of Lady Shiva and Bats himself...she's a total badass! (oops...can I say that?)....really she is though!

I agree, Matt...Fresh Blood really helps to show Cassie's growing personality.
My wife and I have a name for our first 2 boys and 2 girls ready, as well as a possible 3rd (not full name).
Boys: 1: Richard Grayson (Called Dick) 2: Remus Sebastion Bartholemeaw (Remy) 3rd possible 1st name: Alexander (called Alex or Xander)
Girls: 1: Helena Grace 2: Cassandra Kay (Cassie) 3rd possibility: Paulette

I voted Barbra. Does that mean I dont like her as Oracle? Of course not! I love her as Oracle, but I dont think Cassandra cant ever compare to Barbra as Batgirl, IMO.

cassie cain for me too.....she is badass,a dark soul like Batman and capable of being really dark.i really liked the mute thing too.but what swang me to liking her was her defending of the gas station in NML....she kicked butt and took names there to beat the band!!!cant wait for her action figure from DCD i would have prefered mattel do her but itl be ok as long as DCD make her compatible with Hush Batman

I'd have to go with Cassandra as well since I prefer Barbara as Oracle. Whats funny is that I was just glancing through Batgirl Year One just a few minutes ago at my local FYE which didnt make this choice any easier. ;D

As I was reading this thread I was thinking the same thing ;D I would have to say Cassandra, but we all know if Batman had to take her.. he could I don't think there REALLY needs to be a Batgirl but Cass does a great job of jumping into a fight just in the nick of time.

I like the discussion between her and Robin in Fresh Blood where Tim reiterates he does not WANT to be Batman, and she says she does. Great scene.
I could really see Tim becoming a Senator or something after his Robin days (like he did in Armageddon 2001) to help people.
