What's your favorite Batman story arc and why? For me, it's a tie between alot. I like A Death In The Family, Knightfall, No Man's Land, Hush, and Under The Hood. Out of all the Bat-Stories these are many key points in the history of the Batman.
WOO HOO! ONE HUNDRED POSTS! AND I'M AN LoG POLICE OFFICER!

Mine has got to be Long Halloween. Dark Victory, Year One, and Hush follow but LH had a lasting impression on me. It made me the two faced fan i am today. The story also has it's flaws and plot holes but i believe the good far outway the bad.

WOO HOO! ONE HUNDRED POSTS! AND I'M AN LoG POLICE OFFICER! Congrats! I remember my 100 post mark... ;D As for favorite story arc, in regular continuity it's Hush(but of course ;D), but Long Halloween, Dark Victory, and Year One are very close, all way up there for me. If you want to know my favorite Batman story, out of everything ever written, however, it's The Dark Knight Returns.

i haven't read many, but i'd say #1 would be NML (the novel, unfortunately ), Year One, Killing Joke, the Dark Knight Returns. i just bought Officer Down on ebay, i may add that to the list.

most of the big arcs are great, all the ones mentioned are phenomenal. i love alot of the overlooked and underrated arcs that are classic. arcs like "Venom", which trul;y is a gem. i think "The Misfits" was great, especially if you're a fan of Alan Grant and/or if you want to see early Tim Sale art. "Troika" and any arc with Cornelius Stirk. and also the Catwoman arc "Relentless" is great as well. and Batman and Superman: World's Finest, the 10 issue mini from a few years ago is also fantastic, and is one of the best mini-series of all time.

No Mans Land for me-followed closely by A Death In The Family to get NML properly I think Contagion and Cataclysm must be read first

I don't think any storyline has approached either Dark Knight Returns or Year One.
There are others I love or have a nostalgic fondness for but when all is said and done, these two are the alpha and omega. (Or maybe it's omega and alpha if you get my meaning).

I agree...Batman: Year One is, by far, my favorite Batman story of all time, in fact, it's my favorite comic of all time...I earned my copy, The Complete Frank Miller Batman hardcover edition from my father about 2 years ago...To have, IMO, the two ^ aforementioned greatest Batman stories ever written in one excellent hardcover volume is not only handy, but, it looks great on a shelf...This is, without a doubt, the my most prized Batman possesion...
If you've never seen/ heard of the book, here's the cover

I agree Blackmask.. that book is a beautiful and must have piece. On an aside, it is one of my most charished items. I too received it from my Father. He managed to sneek and buy it for me back in the day when we didnt have two nickles to rub together and $35 for a book seemed rediculous! a year or so later I managed to get it signed by Frank Miller (accross the bat symbol on the interior / cover page). Every once and a while I crack it open and the leather and everything still smells like new and never fails to remind me of difficult but wonderful times and my Father (God rest his soul).

You know how DC came up with many great stories? Think about it:
NO MAN'S LAND OFFICER DOWN BRUCE WAYNE: MURDERER HUSH WAR GAMES UNDER THE HOOD
It all started after BATMAN & ROBIN hit theaters. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but this is just my theory. At least we have many great stories to talk about. Especially Hush ;D.

My father had a signed copy of another Batman book by Frank Miller, though it was stolen years ago by some [QUACK!] who apparently needed it more than he did. I'll/ he'll never forgive that lousy [insert humorous farm animal noise here]...

i really liked mudpack, knightfall, and hush To tell you the truth, I don't believe that I've ever read Mudpack...Now that you've mentioned it to me, I'm going to go and check it out...Knightfall was great because it introduced several great characters, and killed off "weak" villains like Film Freak who were just asking to die; IMO the series lasted a little to long, but, that's my opinon...

I was wondering if anyone else remembered that book...It's one of my favorites/ my dad's favorites ; in fact, the last time that I was at his house in Maryland, we both worked together and built the "Bat-Humvee" that's featured in the books... ;D
