I have to say that it was a good ending. The series went out with a major free fall war. There's a lot of new ground to cover after this.

Infinite Crisis #7 (SPOILERS AHEAD!) - I liked most of the issue, although I thought the art was even more terrible than usual, something I didn't even think was possible. Anyway, I thought that the final two pages(besides the montage of heroes and the epilogue with the imprisoned Superbrat Prime) with Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, were like, UNBELIEVABLY corny. Also, I really think that Bruce should be going alone. Even though they are going to attempt to make him more "human" Post-IC, he's "rebuilding" Batman, and a well-written Batman would realize that that should be done by him alone. Anyway, besides those two silly pages (which the obnoxious art only made worse), I really liked the rest of the issue. No one here who has read this can possibly deny bursting with excitement when The Joker burnt Alex Luthor's face with his acid flower and proceeded to blow his brains out in that filthy alley. I really wanted an explanation as to how the hell Alex Luthor and Superboy Prime, who were purely good guys in Crisis on Infinite Earths, went so nuts, but I sure didn't get one. Also, how did Nightwing get blasted by Alex Luthor during the action, only to be just fine at the end of the issue? Still, I thought that, for the most part, this was a solid conclusion to this event, and hopefully great things are in store for the DCU.

I really hope that it's NOT forshadowing, just the creative team messing with us. Hal as the Spectre was enough. Bring back Corrigan and be done with it. Crisis was a huge deal for fans in the 80s, but new fans reading it now probably won't see it as much more than a beautifully rendered, excellent read. Since they didn't grow up reading about a multiverse, the significance of it's elimination probably won't affect them on the emotional level that it did us. One thing about Crisis was that the heroes remained united and heroic ; in Infinite Crisis we begin with the unraveling of the DCU, not only through external threats but also as a result of the shattering of inter personal bonds (Clark, Bruce, Diana). As I stated in an earlier post I hope that this Crisis will bring about a return to a heroic age of comics. Same here. However, I'd like to say this. I grew up in the 90's and my point of view isn't that the multiverse was pointless. If anything the fact that once they eliminated it there were still a lot of problems left over that had to be solved(Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis). I do however have something against multiple versions of a character battling over which is the REAL one, while the idea was cool a while ago, the Spider-Man clone saga killed the concept for me. I'm fine with sucessors like Doctor Midnight III, Sandman II, Green Lantern Ummm V? as long as they acknowledge those who came before them. I do confess that I didn't feel as connected with the earth-two supes and lane, as you probably did. But a really good writer can make you care about characters like that. So as long as people like Geoff Johns, or Grant Morrison are at the helm I have faith that I will care.
