Hey everyone! I hinted last week at a new feature with Mattel. Well, from now on we're going to do a monthly Q&A session with the gang over at Mattel. Fans on LOG can submit all of their questions on each monthly post made by me here on this board, and I will select three of these to submit for discussion with Mattel. On top of this watch for specialized interviews and more from the various members of the Mattel crew! Interaction is back....in a big way!

I would like to ask them...1. If the Shadow Tek line is continuing next year? 2. To get rid of the "one per case" issue and have better case ratios.

Questions...
1) Will Nightwing be released under the DC Super Heroes line?
2) Any plans for a new Superman or Batman toy line?
3) Any news on the rights to other DC super hero characters?

1. When will Mattel create a direct web store for all of their products (ala Hasbrotoyshop.com)? (Hasbro's has made finding shortpacked toys much easier, and they also tend to have product available long before it's out on shelves.) And I realize that Barbie, American Girl, and Hotwheels already have stores... obviously, this is referring to the rest of their products.
2. Any plans for Wonder Woman in the Superfriends line?
3. Any planned upcoming exclusives for DCSH, The Batman, or JLU (at Target, TRU, Walmart, whatnot), and any hints on who's included?

Any chance that the bat-bot that was released in Europe is going to be released in the U.S., or is there gonna be another show accurate figure coming out ?
Will the Justice League members that appeared on THE BATMAN going to be made in that line ?
Any progress on trying to make JLU figures, especially the new, unique characters, more gettable, available, etc ?

Like many others that want to know 1. Will there be a Nightwing? 2. What are the chances of a Red Robin figure? 3. Would you ever make a Jason Todd memorial costume in the case as shown in the Batcave?
Thank You

Hello: Just wondering on the Batbot. will there be a deluxe batbot like on the cartoon. that would be awsome. The possibility of the on line store to purchace the action figures, accessories etc. would also be great for us Bat-fans.. Maybe in the regular store packages have coupons to collect for exclusive figures.

Can Mattel explain the Shayera Hol "belly buckle" to me... seriously. Please? I simply cannot understand or figure out the thinking there. Also, any plans for re-using any other older animated molds... ala the upcoming Joker? Or re-releasing further past animanted figures to the various "dollar store" market?
Thanks.

1. When production of the TDK line begins, will brand new sculpts be made for the whole line, or will previous sculpts be utilized?
2. will sculpts be reused for several figures IE: the Bruce, Ducard & Ra's Al Ghul Begins figs?
3. why are the DCSH Batgirls' arms so small? it looks like she's a midget on stilts.
4. Are there any plans for adding the rest of the The Batman rogues gallery (or other cast) to the figure line, there aren't enough of them.

Why did Mattel decide to have the new JLU Hawkgirl as a SDCC exclusive. The figure would sell very well on the open market and she has been much demanded.
Does Mattel have the license approval to do any additional superheroes that appear in "The Batman"?

I emphasis again.
What is the deal with the distribution of Mattel products? Some waves are extremely hard to find and appear in obscure stores while other waves just seem to be overproduced. Examples, I have never seen a Card Attack Joker from the Batman line in stores or a blue Supergirl from DC Superheroes, yet Shadow TEK figures are everywhere and there doesn't seem an end to Bizarros.

MATTEL, in the recent licensing show you show a few products from the new "dark knight" toy line and i have a few questions: 1. is the large batman figure a prototype? (because the grey is too light and in the promo pics has the suit more black). 2. it this figure going to be same size as last years "action cape" batman figure (which is my favorite figure from the "batman begins" toy line), 13" to 14"? 3. is this going to be like the "action cape" or is this just a lage figure for display? 4. if it is going to like the "action cape" batman, is it going to have the same points of arcticulation like the "AC" batman or will it have more? and will it have a special feature like the "AC" batman or no? all in all that figure looks great and if it is going to be the "AC" batman i'll buy for sure. thanks.

I've got 1 more.
With the design of The Joker being as graphic as it is in TDK, will the figures be toned down a bit to apeal to kids, or are they being meant to scare the hell out of them?
(I sincerely hope it's the latter of the two )

Here is some questions, go ahead and pick any if they're good enough to make the cut. Pick one of mine, coach. 1) Given Mattel's acquisition of the rights to produce characters from past WB movies, Batman 89, Returns, S:TM, etc. Could we see a collectors line of 6-7 inch figures of these characters? As it surely would do well among collectors and maybe even children if given the right amount of attention and thought. 2) I spoke w/ a Mattel rep at WW Chicago, and on the topic of TDK movie line, we discussed the collectors line done by the four horsemen. Is it possible we'd be able to get Alfred, Gordon, Bruce, Ra's, Ducard, LOS Ninja, and other characters from the prior movie if things go well? 3) Will you be re-releasing the outstanding Batmobile from the BEGINS line? Some people missed out on the updated version that had the accurate black and gold paint scheme, which was at times hard to get a hold of seeing it saw limited distribution ... I definetely would love to see this piece re-released. 4) When sculpting the movie characters, did you scan the actors? Or just have someone really talented try to capture their likeness? 5) What is the difference between the two Jokers from the 5.5 inch line for The Dark Knight? Different facial sculpts, outfits or expressions? 6) Could you explain the difference between the "Stealth" and "Assault" Batman figures for the 5.5 TDK figure line? BEGINS had a few figures that were spot on in detail an accuracy to the movie, while other Batman figures not so much. Are we going to get more neon and/or brightly colored variants, or will they keep in line w/ what the movie costume looks like and is colored (black/grey) etc.

Oh, I had a question too regarding distribution. Is distribution handeled by Mattel themselves, or do they find a distribution company to distribute their product? Is it done by call in orders from the store, or by sales associates? If it's the latter, distribution of these toys should be alot better than what we've seen. If stores call in their orders, then I can see how distribution may be lacking, but if Mattel sales reps or their distributor is placing orders and selling in new Mattel product, there should be no excuse for not having stocked shelves w/ the variety of Mattel's product line.
;D

With the design of The Joker being as graphic as it is in TDK, will the figures be toned down a bit to apeal to kids, or are they being meant to scare the hell out of them? (I sincerely hope it's the latter of the two ) I can answer this for you right now. This was, almost verbatim the very first thing I asked at the Mattel booth back in August at Wizard World Chicago. Seeing as how I thought the look for this new Joker was absolutely brilliant. A fascinating combo of Bob Kane and Joker's disturbing 1st appearance, combined w/ Lee Bejermo's frightening re-interpretation ... I asked, what we'd see. He explained to me that the collectors line by the four horsemen would see the Joker from TDK done to the very finest, and gruesome detail. I then asked what would we see from the 5.5 line of the Joker from TDK. He said, expect it to be about 75% of what you see on screen and w/ the collectors line Joker. He said partly it was due to the size, they only have so much plastic to work with w/ the 5.5 compared to the collector's figure ... and also they toned it down ever so slightly, being as the 5.5 line is more aimed at kids. I don't mind, though. He said in essence the 5.5 is a 75% replica of what you see on screen. But the collector's one is just a horrifying capture of the exact likeness to the finest detail. I mean, w/ Batman Returns ... Kenner completely copped out w/ the disturbing look of the Penguin. At least we're getting a 3/4ths accurate Joker for the kid's line. And as long as the essence and general guidline of what he looks like in TDK is met for the 5.5 line ... I'm good. I'll always have the collector's one for the fine detail.

1) With the 6' TDK figures being aimed at collecters will they be harder to find then the 5.5' figures at the stores?
2) When is the DC UNIVERSE hitting the UK because when I asked my TRU guy he said January but I understand people have already got there hands on them.
