Well in the article the picture is missing Nightwing and it says a character who will be on the team isn't in the picture. So I would want: 1. Green Lantern Hal Jordan 2. Flash 3. Nightwing 4. Black Canary 5. Bolster Gold 6. Wonder Woman 7. The Question 8. Green Arrow 9. Hawkman 10. Aquaman
I would have liked Batman on the team but after Crisis I don't think he will be on the team. Besides I have Nightwing and Black Canary representing the Bat-family.

I don't read the comics, so this may be be BS but based on the cartoons through the years and the characters that have appeared on the Justice League TV show. I would say: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aqua Man, Flash(whoever is the current), GL(whoever is the current),Martian Manhunter, Metamorpho, Black Canary, & Atom

Maybe 1 or 2 of them but not all 3 from what I have been reading.

It sounds to me as if the Big 3 will be in it but I could be wrong. Anyway, here's mine:
1. Superman 2. Batman 3. Wonder Woman 4. Oracle (who's not in the pic and could/should be the team's tech leader or leader outright -- knowledge is power after all) 5. GL (takeyerpick) 6. Flash (whoever it is) 7. Green Arrow 8. Black Canary 9. Hawkgirl 10. Power Girl
Of course, I'm not sure whether there will be more than one earth OYL, so I'm not entirely sure who will be available, regardless of that promo pic. For all I know, PG will be on another earth.
I'm also partial to Dr. Fate, but again he could end up elsewhere. Same with Captain Marvel (tho having him and Supes on any team is overkill anyway).

I thought I heard Oracle, Barbara Gordon, was getting worked on so that she could walk again and possibly return as Batgirl or Batwoman. I could be mistaken though. Also I thought Dr. Fate and Captain Marvel were MIA currently in continuity. Otherwise I would love to see any of those 3 on the team!

I guess im a sucker tradtionalist? but the "true" JLA is and will always be: Supes, Bats, WW, Aquaman, GL, Flash, MManhunter.
From the image (which kicks but btw) I could imagine any number of enjoyable and fun combinations! I love most every shown! I think a 10 member core reg team might be a bit much though?
It would be easier for me to exclude characters from the picture: 1st, nothing against the others but sincee Hal is pictured he should be THE G.L. of any new such team. so knock out kyle, guy and john, they can be seen in other places/books. I dont find Metamorpho, flamebird, phantom stranger, arsenal, adam strange, booster gold, tempest or black lightening "worthy". Im also not in favor of using Question, gold guardsman, elongated man, zatana, animal man? for various reasons, mostly personal preference and such. im not familiar enough with this new firestorm or dr. light and i dont know who the two guys are directly in the back (to the right of tempest and guardsman?) to say yay or nay. im on the fence with vixen, cyborg, fire and hawkgirl. like red tornado i may biased due to JLU adventures but such previously lackluster characters have grown on me and i can see useful elements in them.
So, by exclusion and in the spirit of freshness:
1-Capt. Marvel 2-Power Girl 3-Huntress 4-Flash 5-Hal Jordan 6-Aquaman 7-Red Tornado 8-Green Arrow 9-Hawkman 10-rotating spot? or Dr. MIdnight cause he just looks cooool IMO

Re: Oracle: My understanding is that she will not walk again.
Re: Dr. Fate and Capt. Marvel: They may be MIA but could be back by the time the new title launches. For one thing, I believe Cap is getting a new title (at least a mini).
Re: Batlaw's process of elimination. I like your thinking.
Personally, I'm a Silver Age kind of guy so a JLA without the Big 3 plus Flash and GL is no JLA at all to me. After that, I can be persuaded on a number of fronts, though I'm not big on MM or Aquaman.

I would love to see more of the Question in comics but not plausible. One of stars in 52 and since they wish to keep the mystery of who gets the axe then i doubt he'll be in JLA. Also if they keep to original morals then i doubt he could join a team tainted by mind wiped. Also he's more of a loner (of course that never stopped batsy)..
anyways.
1. Green Arrow 2. Black Canary 3. Green Lantern Hal Jordan **I think these three should take over as the big three of the JLA for lil bit. GL=supes, GA=Bats, and BC=WW.**
4. Red Tornado 5. Metamorpho 6. Oracle 7. Flash (watever's left) 8. Mister Miracle (the real one not the one that Morrison cracked out) 9. Firestorm 10. Huntress

I see... Leader Hal- came full circle-back where he belongs and further chance at redemption and make ammends. Capt. Marvel- fills Supes powerhouse spot and acts as innocent/optomistic/concience of the League. Huntress- non powered harnose/suspicious "edgy" replaces Batman Green Arrow- Also fits the Batman role but further acts as the "Human element" or "everyman" Power Girl- Replaces WW and has a lot to explore. Flash- token Speedster and classic with ties to everyone else in the dcu. Aquaman- token water bassed and back to basics senior member. offers tension and classic feel Hawkman- token tough guy extremist offering tension and classic feel Red Tornado- (or Cyborg) token tech / mech role and capable of taking a dramatic effect beating TORN- Zatana- token magic character adds another female as well as classic. AnimalMan- token shape changer and tree hugger offering tension? Vixen- offers both a token "animal" element and further female role? Capt. Atom- token "military man" offering tension due to "loyalty issues" Etc. Or Dr.Midnight cause he just looks coool

I would like to see the team made up of heroes that I rarely see, ones that only pop up during big events in the DC universe, because I could really care less about what happens to them during such a big event, I think if there were some heroes on the team that I don't know or follow I might get be more inclined to get into big stories more so if the team had a few unknown heroes on it.
My Top Ten:
1. Martian Manhunter 2. Booster Gold 3. Blue Beetle 4. Red Tornado 5. Firestorm 6. The Elongated Man or Plastic Man (take your pick) 7. Wild Cat 8. Dr. Midnite 9. Guy Gardner 10. Dr. Fate
other's I wouldn't mind seeing in the group would be Dead Shot, Catman, Captain Marvel

I just realized Steel is missing from the picture in the article posted earlier. I know Wizard magazine has really been talking about the charatcer a lot lately concerning the future JLA so I wonder if he may become a member in Superman's place.

somebody's gotta graduate the Titans I agree with you there. I think that's an excellent point. I'd pick Cyborg over Donna Troy, assuming WW is in the group. I also like the idea of the Atom. A fun, classic Silver Ager.

I don't really have a problem with most of the heroes in that pic; I think a much bigger League like the one shown in that pic would be cool, sort of JL Unlimited-style. However, I think the big 3 need to give it a rest. Have a couple Super characters on it(i.e. Supergirl, Superboy, Steel), but for the most part, I'd like to see Supes, WW, and Batman take a (perhaps very long) break from all the leaguing. I like the idea of Hal Jordan being the leader. He's definitely powerful, competent, and leaderly enough. Give Nightwing a high up position, too, like Batman has had over the years(of course have him earn it himself, not get in because of his relation to the Bat). Now that I think about it, it seems like a really good idea to let Nightwing take a place on the big, public superhero team, and allow Bats to actually keep to the shadows more.

Its a tough call to come up with an acceptable cross section of heroes without ending up re-configuring "old teams" like the Titans or the JSA? Im pretty content with my selection and I agree some members have earned a place higher on the totem pole... like Nightwing, Cyborg and Troia. Arsenal on the other hand, although enjoyable and capable, has yet to really succeed. In fact, he has "dropped the ball" repeatedly since "growing up". I think my main desire is to see further Hal "redemption" and return to glory. and the inclusion of Capt. Marvel who Ive always adored and found seriously underated and underused! Same goes for Dr. Fate! Ive also really lbeen enjoying the direction of Hawkman and would like to see and learn more. Same goes for Powergirl, she screams for improvement and "solidification" one way or the other. Superboy and Supergirl both still have some maturing and developing to do though before I would consider them JLA worthy IMO. Ive also found Steel a bit "inflated" and wouldnt mind at all if he went into further into the background.

hmm, lets see who is most notably "absent" from the pic... Martian Manhunter, Plastic Man, Barda, Orion and Steel (Beetle?). Also no Nightwing or Superboy. Any other past prominant Leaguers or notable candidates missing?

I guess my vision of the JLA is not exactly what you would call revolutionary. What can I say? I'm a purist and I love my heroes. Here's my roster: 1. Superman 2. Batman 3. Wonder Woman 4. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) 5. Aquaman 6. J'onn J'onzz Martian Manhunter 7. The Flash (whoever it may be) 8. Captain Marvel 9. Hawkman 10.Hawkgirl
Although it would be cool to see Nightwing on the same team as Batman, I think it's time he be separated from Batman. He has earned the right to stand on his own in the DCU. Green Arrow is a character that I just don't feel fits in the league. I realy think it's time Captain Marvel got his time in the spotlight. The Justice League should represent the best of the best. Anyway, this is my list.

Okay so in Wizard 176, the June issue, they interviewed Brad Meltzer who is writing the JLA for the 52 run. He dropped some hints as to who might be members of the new JLA. He said he is trying to incorporate the past and the present in regards to the new JLA. I will try and sum it up for you. Okay so we know that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are missing for the year during which 52 takes place. He said for the original JLA era Batman was his favorite character. He said he loved guys with no powers because you can relate to them. Possibly a hint that a character like Nightwing might appear? For the satellite era which began in 1970, he said Red Tornado was the moral center of the book. He also said Firestorm was vital for the League. He said about Firestorm, "He was like Robin with Batman - the guy who made us feel the wonder of the moment." He also says he knows he isn't meant to write about the Martian Manhunter. For the Detroit League which ran from 1984-1987, he said he really likes seeing Vibe on JLU. Concerning the Justice League International,he said it was "one of the most fondly remembered periods in the League". His favorite member was Guy Gardner. The 90's Justice League. He said that this era laid the groundwork for putting the Big 7 together as we know them. He also said that we have known the big 7 and seen them together for so long that maybe we want more then just the big 7 in the spotlight. His favorite member of this era was Batman. Read between the lines and take it for what it's worth. Wizard sometimes tends to report things the way they want you to think and not necessarily what will happen. I still believe Nightwing and Green Lantern Hal Jordan are going to play big roles in the new league with the big 3 MIA.

Just thought you might like to know more about Meltzer's JLA. On his myspace blog he said:
[glow=red,2,300]"Today we got the Andy Kubert page for JLA zero (told you we had a few more surprises). To say it's spectacular... Oy gazunt.
And apparently, it's the first time he's ever draw Wonder Woman.
We're getting close -- and the preview is in next month's Wizard.

Heres my pick *********** Green Arrow Black Canary Dr. Fate Huntress Supergirl The Question PowergirlBooster Gold Flash Green Lantern (Hal)I agree with you for the most part. But Hal has his own series now, so I'd rather see him replaced with John Stewart. Also since Powergirl is basically a different version of Supergirl, and since PG is already a JSA member, why not replace her with Wonder Woman, or Batwoman.
