The batsuit has gone through many changes through the years and I was wondering, what you like in a batsuit. So I made some categories to see what you prefer over the other.
1. Ears-long or short?
2. Batsignal-with or without yellow oval?
3. Utility belt- Capsular or with pouches?
4. Cape, cowl, gloves, and boots- black or blue?

Not a bad survey/thing
1. Umm Im going to have to go with medium, even though the Batman Begins cowl has that shorter version as well as TB which Im growing on. But JLU has convinced me.
2. Without the oval. Definately. Looks too 80s, although TB brought it back nicely
3. The original pouches. How do you fit things in the capsulars? They're too small.
4. Definately black!

Nice thread, All Star Batman. This question seems to pop up every couple of months, but it's a very interesting topic, so it's good to have an update every once in a while(especially with all the new members joining all the time). I don't really have a set preference with the ears. If I like the artist, I like the ears any length the artist wants them. For example, Tim Sale and Jim Lee, two of my favorite comic artists, draw Batman's ears the opposite from each other, Lee drawing them extremely short, and Sale extremely long, but short ears fit Jim Lee's style, and long ear fit Sale's, so I like them the way they are. But I guess if there were a new, really good artist preparing to draw Batman, and I could choose the ear length(how this could happen, I haven't a clue), I'd choose medium length. I like the symbol the be a huge bat without the yellow oval, and I like the pouch belt. I like the cape, gloves, mask, etc. to be black, although Jim Lee's Batman style has made me realize that blue can work on modern Batman, too. This wasn't a category of course, but it's important to me that Batman ALWAYS have trunks. Without them I feel he looks naked. Mattel got my favorite look perfect with Zipline Batman, and Batsignal Batman after him. I used to not like the classic look(yellow oval, capsule belt, blue mask, cape, etc.) at all, but I like it much more now. Not as much as the look I previously described, but I do like it, especially when it's drawn by Neal Adams.  |

Most importantly: NO NIPPLES!
1. Ears - Short. Although the long eared Batsuit was visually appealing in The Long Halloween, when I saw the action figure I realised how encumbering they would be. Keep it Short stupid.
2. I love the understatement of the Batsignal without the yellow oval.
3. I think the utility belt should be primarily capsular and have a few pouches.
4. Cape, cowl gloves and boots - BLACK!

3.Its seems to be normally capsule but i think pouches would look better.
4.All black
But i have to agree with dasknight, NO NIPS PLEASE. ;D

4. Cape, cowl, gloves, and boots-Black (in some instances) or blue. The tunic and tights would be light gray. And no nipples! EEEiiiwww!!!
I am looking into these things for my planned fan films. I plan to do a vintage Batman fan film, Batman 1969, as well as a Web series set in the present era.

Yep. I'm pretty sure we're all on the same page!
1) Medium-Long...but no where near Kelley Jones long.
2) Without...it's more gothic and striking...yellows a little too camp nowadays.
3) Pouches...how impractical are small little capsules.
4) Black.

1. The Ears on the cowl for me look best inbetween, not too long and not too short
2. I like a plain black bat, no yellow, I hate it!
3. The Utility belt is more believeable when it has pouches, and it should be black
4. Batman's Cape, cowl, gloves, and boots definately black!

Glad I saw this! 1. Ears-long or short? Medium ears, but they should be fairly paralel, not super tapered in where they would touch 2 inches about his head. 2. Batsignal-with or without yellow oval? Honestly I love the yellow oval. It is a comic book and visually it looks great. 3. Utility belt- Capsular or with pouches? Pouches, but not overly large where it looks like hes got a fanny pack on. 4. Cape, cowl, gloves, and boots- black or blue? I would really love a deep dark gray, where its noticable, but not bright enough where it looks too contrasting with the boots and gloves. |
