Why is this a problem for people, or a concern?

[glow=red,2,300]Not everybody is against it ,It's only because some people feel that sexuality has nothing to do with the character!Which is not a problem everybody deserves their own Opinion![/glow]

So she's a lesbian. Big f-ing whoop. I have no problem with a lesbisn Batwoman. I think this adds more to the fact that anything can happen in this modern age of comics, instead of the kid friendly ones that we had many many years ago.
My only problem is that it's still Kathy Kane. I was hoping for someone new.

FYI, the team on the upcoming Batwoman monthly title? Devin Grayson and Dustin Nguyen.
With Devin writing, I'll probably pass.

What can I say, I'm not a fan of the Bat family. I never liked the idea of Batman welcoming people in....he just isn't that kind of guy.
Robin I'm fine with, because he's been around so long, and has developed beyond just a stupid little kid.
But come on DC, enough is enough!

Do other guys seriously have a problem keeping their minds out of the gutter? Dead set. How about we bypass red blooded male stereotypes of lesbianism and view the character as a character and not a sex object.

How about we bypass red blooded male stereotypes of lesbianism and view the character as a character and not a sex object. Taken care of. Guys - please, lets keep this clean and on topic. I've seen it spin WAY out of control on other boards. I think LOG's members can handle this discussion, but the staff will be watching closely to remove any offensive posts or lock the thread entirely if needed.

She pushes the envelope a lot...sometimes maybe too much just for the sake of pushing it, but she's different..and I've tended to enjoy her stuff.

It was the tail end of her run on Nightwing that really ruined it for me. The Dick/Tarantula relationship, Dick killing Blockbuster, etc really made me think that she had had absolutely no graps on the character. I don't hate her, like some fans seem to, but I won't go out of my way to pick up a book written by her either.

I have to say, that' I'm really surprised about all the publicity this has gotten. It's not a big deal to me as far as Batwoman being a lesbian, but it's been all over the presses for the last few weeks. Just my thoughts on the subject...

Same here, a character is a character, just like a person is a person. If so many women in the world are lesbians, why should so many people be shocked by a comic book character who is a lesbian? Get over it.

As read on Newsarama -- "Kate Kane shows up in issue #7, her first full appearance is in #11." from 52, #11, courtesy of Newsarama.

This is just a guess, but it looks like Batwoman maybe showing up in Birds of Prey this September: There's an eerily familiar Caped Crusader running around the Birds' territory…one that's freaking out Huntress and Black Canary. But Oracle's life will be the most affected by this heroine's bizarre return!

I think it's a pretty kickin' suit design, striking without being too different or garish. Nice.
As for her sexuality I couldn't care less, diversity is always a good thing (just so long as it's used as character and not a just for cheap titillation puposes), just as long as the book is good I'll be happy.
As for it being Bette, guess that shoots down my hunch, I had a feeling that it might end up being Selina Kyle as Batwoman...

Woah, I never thought of it like that. Selina, it would be quite a shock though, do we think we'd accept her or feel like she's just ripping off Batwoman? Or ripping off Catwoman even?

Doesn't anyone find it ironic that Batwoman was created so Batman didn't seem gay (because some supposedly academic guy tried to figure out the behavior of children and condemned comics, hence comic code and Batmoman were invented). Now decades Later Batwomen returns and as a revenge the make her a lesbian. Brilliant!
This way (hopefully) they won't retell those love stories between Batman and Batwoman

i'm a little behind in the catwoman series i know that selina kyle isnt the current catwoman, but i do not know why i used to be really into batman about 12 years ago, i lost most interest when batman begins came out it renewed my interest, i have got thousands of batman comics i have almost all of them from the 60's (in all related titles) and up, including all of the new ones but i have not started reading them (for i can not figure out where to start...) i am reading most of the graphic novels, one shots, and mini series for now (as well as some regular batman novels, reading ultimate evil now) so i wouldnt mind a little tiny story as to the catwoman switch
anyway that picture (if you've read birds of prey 96) is not batwoman, but batgirl coming back and that could possibly still be selina =) from what it said under that picture, this batgirl (although she looks like it, and it is implied that she is) is not barbara gordan or oracle i guess we will see i am very curious to see how the this batgirl ties in with batwoman...if at all i also havent seen any batwoman appearences after OYL...and i hate to say but she isn't dead is she?

All I can say is: Bring on the Batwoman!
As long as she kicks butt and does not adversely affect Catwoman, I am a happy camper!

I've been reading issues of 52 periodically; I decided to buy #11 last week since Batwoman was in it. She looks good to me, but like dhunter333 said none of the OYL books have mentioned her, I wonder why... And as for the mysterious Batgirl in Birds of Prey, I have no idea. Is it Barbara? Is it not Barbara? On New Earth was someone else the first Batgirl (is that possible - I mean this is New Earth, right? Batman has a son and all now)? All I know is I'm looking forward to the next Birds of Prey and I hope Batwoman as well as Batgirl shows up in that title soon.

[shadow=green,left,300]Was Kathy Kane Cassandra's mother? B/c Cassandra was Batgirl... I don't know. I thought she was a bad idea when they first came out with a movie for her. I thought that they just needed some extra cash...[/shadow]
