Thanks for the pic Matt! Hopefully this upcoming line will be more diverse and better detailed than the Begins line.

I would have bought this, but I cant stand vehicles where the figure is already attached. Cant stand it. Wheres the play value if Batman is always stuck to the bike ?

Hmmm, looks like the The Batman Batcycle one. I'll pass thanks. Besides, maybe in the movie it will look better but, that vehicle looks horrible!

I've been a collector long enough to not expect much out of movie-based toys! I mean really..when have they ever been outstanding? From 1989 to present.
I just hope that we'll get a few nice sculpts..particularly on Joker.

thanks for the pic!
i hope the basic figures are of a much higher quality than what we saw for Begins. the Collector's Edition figure is what the basic figures should have been, in my opinion. i hope they rectify this for TDK.

Ive never been a big fan of the movie merchandise either, but I tend to buy some of the vehicle items and end up with a couple basic figs. More than that and I always have regret.

[glow=red,2,300]That pciture of the Batman toy doesnt really match up with the photo's at all, lol for one they kind of made the grey area's really bright when all hte other picturs(even the stuntman one) show the clothy bits as being dark grey almost pure black.[/glow]

I kind of feel like Batman's toys and movies are coming full circle.
The first Batman film, titled Batman, featured the Joker. The toy line was called "The Dark Knight Collection". The new Batman movie is called the Dark Knight, it features the Joker, and the toy line will be called "The Dark Knight". Funny.
As for movie based toy lines offering something special, I agree that they usually don't.
The Dark Knight Collection and Batman Returns toy lines featured mostly updated Super Powers figures with less articulation. Batman got a new face sculpt, but the body was the same. Sky Escape Joker got a new face as well. The Penguin was only repainted, meaning he didn't look anything like Dany Devito's character. Catwoman got a cool sculpt, and the Batman Returns line featured the first comic style Robin 3 figure, even though he wasn't in the movie. Also, the Iron Winch Batman figure featured Batman's comic style blue costume, which was also cool. The fact that Bruce Wayne got his own figure was a plus as well.
the Batman Forever didn't feature a cool movie style Batman figure in single pack form. The Guardians of Gotham 2 pack Batman figure was the only one that could pass as a movie style figure. Other complaints I have are Riddler's stupid television covered costume, one he didn't wear in the movie, and the face that you couldn't take Two-Face's gun out of his hand.
The Batman & Robin line featured a cool Batgirl and Poison Ivy, but the best was the Bane figure. Even though the Bane figure didn't look like the movie character, it was a comic style figure that rocked. Put it with The Dark Knight's Collection Iron Winch Batman, and you have a Knightfall match up.
The Batman Begins line was the worst of all. Yeah, we got a movie style Batman figure, but there were way too many, and way too many alternate versions. Bruce Wayne, Ra's Al Ghul, and Ducard figures all shared the same body, and the Scarecrow figure looked horrible. Just like the Superman Returns toy line, the Batman Begins line wanted to use the same figure sculpt and accessories to sell a dozen figures. It didn't work.
I would love to see Mattel release Batman, Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent, and Joker figures which all feature their own sculpt. I hope they look like their movie counterparts, and they come with accessories that the characters use in the film. I don't want to see 12 Batman figures, 1 Joker and nothing else. Mattel needs to listen to fans and do Dark Knight right.

yep, the Begins line was truly terrible. too many variants and not enough quality in any of the figures.
and where's the picture of someone holding the large figure, showing the scale?

I just got off work and have to be back at 5 a.m, so Im really tired and cant go into a big post. Ive been lokoing at the released pics. ugh. Im a movie toy guy too. I think Im just gonna stick to the basic figs on this, which will probably only be a couple. Im just not feeling these designs enough for me to spend my oney on the toy incarnations.

that large figure is probably only a prototype, but it looks rubbish. why is it bllue, for a start? and the sculpt gives no appearance whatsoever of an undersuit with pieces of armour attached. it's probably the equivalent of the Action Cape figure from Begins, if it's larger than 5"/6". i hope the final released versions are better than this.
and i hope they make the basic figures 6" instead of 5", they were just too small for Begins.

that large figure is probably only a prototype, but it looks rubbish. why is it blue, for a start? and the sculpt gives no appearance whatsoever of an undersuit with pieces of armour attached. it's probably the equivalent of the Action Cape figure from Begins, i think your right, it might be a prototype of what might be a 13" "action cape" like batman figure. if thats true, i'll buy it; but i hope they make the grey areas black like in the promo pics.

Well, now I see why the bat looked bigger in that one picture we saw. I like it. It's just another step to getting a gray batsuit in a batmovie.

I don't feel too good about the color scheme on that Batman. The idea of a gray-and-black suit in movie sounds good in theory, but if that's the result then I don't want to see it. I think, from what we've seen, that the suit will be either all black or have extremely dark gray areas in the film, so I hope it's just the figure looking like that. At any rate, the movie figures always look bleak in comparison to the real thing, so even if the suit is something like that in the movie, they'll probably pull it off. This just looks like a bad variant to me, whether or not it's supposed to be the actual suit. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the Batman stuck to the bat-pod has this costume on...

This is pretty sad. I'd take nipples over this hockey player any day. It needs to be all gray or all black. And what happened to the big bat on his chest? Hopefully it's just a prototype to show detail. Or maybe this is before Bruce sprays it all black. In it's current form, it's just a mess. The BatPod does seem pretty cool though. I'll be picking that up.

The figure design's great, but the coloration sucks big time. If they're going with grey, atleast make it an uber dark shade of grey, so it looks kinda like black. It looks like he glued pieces of armor on his pajamas!

that's not such a bad thing. Nolan could explain the pyjamas as super-hi-tech pyjamas made by Fox out of nomex and kevlar
