The following are the details regarding these two animated features. I felt I should post this so people can know what these movies will be about from their comic book counterparts. Sorry if this thread is actually something not needed: Superman: Doomsday In an epic tale of sacrifice, Superman battles an intergalactic serial killer in a superpowered Armageddon - "Superman: Doomsday". After Superman makes the ultimate sacrifice to save Metropolis by giving his life to defeat the foe, those who loved him the most mourn their fallen hero and friend. But a world without Superman proves to be short-lived when the Man of Steel mysteriously returns. Or does he? Based on the best-selling graphic novel of all time, The Death of Superman. Director: Duane Capizzi Producer: Bruce Timm Release Date: Sep 2007 Justice League: New Frontier Live the intense tale of the founding of the greatest band of superheroes ever - "Justice League: New Frontier". In this origin epic, a virtual who's who of superheroes featuring not only Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, but also Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Flash, these very different heroes must overcome their fear and suspicion of one another to forge an alliance against a creature so formidable that it will take all of their powers combined to prevail! Inspired by the best-selling graphic novel and produced by the multiple Emmy-winning animation legend Bruce Timm ("Batman: The Animated Series"). Writer: Stan Berkowitz Release Date: Fall 2007 Source: www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php

Thanks Blinker! i had a fairley good idea of what they were about but this cleared some things up. I hate how long we will have to wait for these. I think they should make a batman one based upon the Hush storyline.

If only it would say which Green Lantern, that would be great. With that lineup, New Frontier looks like it will have the same people as the JL of the DCAU, with the exception of Hawgirl and possibly the Green Lantern chosen.
Modified
Now that I think about it, I guess there isn't any confirmation of which Flash too. I think it is safe to assume which Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter.

Going by the book: the Flash is Barry Allen with Hal Jordan being Green Lantern. So it would have to be them since the film is based on the book.

I am really excited for the Justice League movie. And my guess is that Hal Jordan and Barry Allen will be the two guys in the movie, like Blinker stated if they are sticking by the book, they have to use these two legends!

I'm looking forward to New Frontier. Doomsday doesn't really appeal to me all that much. I never got into Superman. I guess it is because he is more of a science fiction character.

I never liked the fact that new characters like Doomsday & Bane are the guys that took out legends like Superman & Batman.
I might pick up the Superman Doomsday movie just to see the likes of The Justice League, mainly Booster Gold and The Blue Beetle, the other dynamic duo.

Ive always Doomsday was fine and suitable and a cool design. The story was pretty simplistic and gimmicky but couldve been much worse. Bane I always considered to be quite a great character. Original and thoroughly developed before just showing up as a plot device. Unfortunately though IMO he since lost all his edge and most of his appeal. As with Prometheus his character and potential has been all but squandered.
I am really looking forward to Frontier because it was a great book about these great characters and done with tons of style and class.
I am also becoming increasingly more anxious and excited for Superman/Doomsday than I was originally. At first it seemed the least interesting or Necessary. But the more I hear of it's development and direction, it just might be the stand out of these new projects? For starters, Bruce Timm is actually taking a personal hands on part in it's creation and it will be the most original (new) project of the bunch. Not as much a direct translation as the others.

Hey all,
Is there any confirmation that the new movies will take place in the dcau ie the timmverse.
It's funny how the death of superman was already adapted/hinted at in the two parter jl episode with vandal savage. Now that Doomsday is in the negative zone and has vowed to get revenge on superman, it seems like the perfect set up for the movie. I do hope they continue with the 14 year history of the dcau timmverse.
With the justice league movie, maybe it takes place after the pilot 3 parter. Seems like a logical place to stick it.
regards, joshua

New Frontier is essentially a story of HalJordan with the rest of the JLA used as supporting characters. It's a great book to pick up especially since DC decided to finally collect the entire series into 1 book instead of 2 books.

New Frontier is one of the best miniseries that DC has put out in the last few years, I thoroughly recommend it to any fan of the DC Universe. And much like Kingdom Come, for those that know their DC history or who have a wide knowledge of the characters that inhabit the DCU beyond just the big guns, it's even richer (though it still works as a story just fine for those not as familiar).
As for the main players in New Frontier, to my mind that would be Hal Jordan/Green Lantern and J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter, with King Faraday, Richard Flagg (of Task Force X) and The Challengers Of The Unknown (particularly Ace Morgan) all also having major roles.
Also in notable supporting roles are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash (Barry Allen), The Losers (Captain Storm, Johnny Cloud, Sarge, Gunner & Pooch), Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Slam Bradley, John Henry, Karin Grace and the rest of the original Task Force X, Nathaniel Adam (aka the man who would become Captain Atom), Larry Trainor (who would later become Negative Man of the Doom Patrol), Professor Will Magnus (who would invent The Metal Men) and Carol Ferris.
Plus minor appearances by Adam Strange, Ted Grant (aka Wildcat), Ray Palmer (aka The Atom), Green Arrow, Blackhawk, Dr Fate, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, The Spectre, James Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Robin, Viking Prince, Vandal Savage, Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman), Iris Allen, Captain Cold and Aquaman.
On top of that there's more (mostly single panel) cameos than you can poke a stick at, especially in the last book. The JSA, Doom Patrol, Metal Men, Teen Titans, Joker, Luthor, Vigilante, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Booster Gold, Metamorpho, Plastic Man, Captain Marvel, Black Canary, Alanna Strange, Dr Sivana, Black Manta, Two Face, Cheetah, Grundy, Gentleman Ghost, Sinestro, Brainiac, Dr Light, Starro and so on, but almost none of them actively play a real role in the storyline, they're more just a bunch of single panel hero shots and cameos for the most part.
I really look forward to seeing how this turns out, it's a big story though so I just hope they don't cut too much of it out or dumb or tone it down any...we'll see I guess.
Sev.

It should come out great. I'm also thrilled for Superman/Doomsday... unlike the other dtv's in development, it's not going to be a direct translation. More liberties are being taken with it.

Wish I knew. Exact details havnt been released. But Bruce Timm is effectively re-imagining / re-writing the basic tale from the ground up. Naturally a great deal of the story will require serious condensing anyway for the format which is how the other DTV's are being approached... in a more direct and traditional book to film translation.

Has anything been released as to who may voice any of the characters?
I think it would be cool to have Brandon Routh voice CK/Superman, and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. I am not all familar with Doomsday, does he actually speak?
And with the New Frontier it would be fun seeing Adam West voice Bats, is Robin in this? If so then bring out Burt Ward for The Boy Wonder.
What does everybody else think for voice actors?

If I'm not mistaken, Lucy Lawless is voicing Wonder Woman? Or she at least supposedly confirmed she is doing so in "A" animated DC / JLA project. Not certain whether or not its been confirmed its New Frontier, but thats the safe assumption.

She is going from The Warrior Princess to The Amazon Princess...

Kevin Smith (aka "Silent Bob" of the dynamic duo Jay and Silent Bob) has confirmed on his website he has recenlty finished voice recording for an unspecified role in the Bruce Timm's upcomming animated "Death of Superman" DTV. FYI Kevin also lends his voice to a fry cook in the upcoming CGI TMNT movie lol And for some fun VA trivia, I believe he also voiced GL Hal Jordan in the Duck Dodgers "Green Loonterns" episode.

I just read "The Death of Superman" so I'm ready to see the movie when it comes out. Phew! I hope it measures up to the book, although I don't doubt that Bruce Timm will make it awesome. Oh, and to answer Techo Bat's question, Doomsday only says things like "Ha Ha Ha.." when he's destroying things like trucks, birds, a deer, - the usual.

Phil Morris is said to be doing an unspecified role and Neil Patric Harris is supposedly cast as the Flash. This comes from posters on Worlds Finest.
