What's your favorite feature-length animated Batfilm? Why?

I picked Mask of the Phantasm because I really liked the flashback scenes showing Bruce fighting crime in the ski mask and putting on the Bat costume for the first time.
...but it was hard not to pick Return of the Joker as well. They're both just so great IMHO. ;D

I went with Return of the Joker because I think it has everything going for it -- great drama, action, puts a real mark on the Batman legend. Extremely well done.
But I also like Mask of the Phantasm too for the reasons stated above.

In any event, I like both of them, especially BB: The Movie. (I actually think that series deserves more respect than it gets. It's quite inventive.)

Return of the Joker easily. In spite of the fact that I love the original Batman series so much more than Batman Beyond and that the Phantasm is one of my favorite villains, ROTJ (kinda sounds like another Mark Hamill movie) was just such an epic addition to the timeline. Phantasm, Subzero and Batwoman all really slowed down at points and it seemed that the story wasn't really moving along. The final scene with Terry flying away is just so amazing and it is a perfect finale to the series(I consider it to be the end). And the Main Title theme to the movie is amazing.

Welcome aboard Kingpun (cant say I've seen you around before?) I agree, the Beyond music was probably the best from any of the series! I loved Beyond but plenty seemed not to? Anyway, as a Batman Beyond fan myself, I'm curious what you thought of the JLU finale including Beyond?

I loved Beyond but plenty seemed not to? I've always loved Beyond myself. Pity there were so many episodes I didn't get to see. I'll also have to catch the JLU episode on reruns, as I missed it. I'm sure it's excellent, tho.

MotP was by far my favorate. The Batman Beyond RotJ was OK, but the Uncut version was 100 X's better. PJ

[shadow=navy,left,300]MotP...I remember seeing it in theatres and I've loved it ever since.
The flashback sequences are BRILLIANT and Bruce's raw emotion really makes the movie what it is.
Its actually my favorite Batman movie in general...animated or live action.[/shadow]

In response to a post a while back, I haven't seen the JLU finale episode. I haven't been watching either Justice League series that much. I would however be interested in seeing this final episode. I just think Justice League ran into the problem of hero overload. They couldn't use the characters to their full potential because they had too many to focus on. In a perfect world they'd all have their own show.

That's part of why I'm not a huge JL fan either. Anyway, I did happen to see the last episode by accident and got a kick out of it because of the Beyond angle. But back to our original programming: I'm actually rather surprised by the wide margin people have picked Phantasm over ROTJ. Is it because people have a harder time accepting Beyond as part of the Bathistory? Or is it strictly from a storytelling standpoint? Just curious...

Is it just between these four choices? Because I like The Batman Superman World's Finest film, that is a favorite! But if it's between the four up there I would say Mask of the Phantasm is tops!

I left it out because it wasn't originally released as a movie. It's really episodes of the Superman show stitched together. It is good, though.

I'm a fan of the original and first Batman animated movie, it's a classic. However, compare to qualities and plots, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is one of the best animated movies I've seen. It has a good solid plot, INTENSE VIOLENCE, good detective work like Mask of the Phantasm, and good animation qualities.

dont get me wrong motp was fantastic, and batman beyond is one of the best series made, but i had to go with mystery of the batwoman. i mean come on, its the last tale from the batman animated series. its after the animated series and before justice league. and Batwoman. i loved it just because its like you really wanna know who it is. is it Kathy Kane? is it someone else? i really enjoyed it.

For me personally it would be the acceptance of BB, I thought the story was great. Loved Mystery of The Batwoman... but I loved Mask of the Phantasm even more, so that's the one I voted for.

It was a vitual tie between ROTJ and Phantasm. Then MOTB came along...the more I watch it, the more I love it. However, Phantasm is of the highest quality of the 3. ROTJ has my fav hero in it. But MOTB is what I would watch if I had a choice right now. All 3 rock...its not fair.

MOTP for me Like Peev said hands down.they nailed the Joker and I cant get enough of that scene when the amusement park is goin up in smoke and he is in HYSTERICS while Andrea holds him. Also the interplay between pre Joker thug and Bruce was classic-its like Batman and the Joker had an instant dislike for one another before either was even born...classic.I did like ROTJ too just not as much and I enjoyed mystery of the Batwoman(wish we had a fig)and Sub Zero too

I voted for Mask of The Phantasm. Besides loving the film (and the character of The Phantasm) I have the Andrea/Phantasm figure at home & it still rates as one of my favourites in my collection. Second would be Mystery of The Batwoman & like you JOKERFC i had hoped we would get a Batwoman figure. Yay me...i just noticed i'm now up to 100 posts
